Great contribution to the thread.
Nice read Bumblebee, it should help a lot of people.

No wanting to start an argument or anything but i really don't agree with that. I don't think anyone can say that one race is more APM intensive then another when it comes to macro.
And i also don't agree with the OP when he says that there isn't alot of micro a Zerg has to do, but i'll forgive him for that since this thread is really old now and it's such a good read, very helpful for players of all calibre i think

Wall of text!!! Lol jk. Wow nice guide I'm gonna show my friends! I appreciate the amount of work that went into writing that :D

Holy crap, what an incresibly well written guide. Thanks to whoever bumped this. Such a great deal of work was put into this and i believe some recognition is in order

I could never spend such an amount of time wrinting an article this well written. I'd give up halfway. And no, I didn't read it fully -.-

I would say give this guy blue status but the post is so old =/ Maybe if he came back and reformatted for easy easier reading (adding spoiler tags etc) than it would be blue material again?

I am currently in the process of re-writing this guide, and if folks would be so kind, I would like to know any suggestions for improvement?
I will probably first release a guide on increasing your effective APM in a zerg specific context, but this feedback I can use for that guide as well.
I hope this is an acceptable bump, as this is really my only place for getting feedback on my guide writing style before posting another 10,000+ word guide or two. (that's a lot of work, and I want it to be better than this one!)
edit: Pfft. The second guide is at 5k words, and I'm not even 20% done.

excellent work friend, this guide opened my eyes into a new world of conceptual gaming

...so you're gonna be at 30k words when you're done? :O
Might be a little too long to read, other than that, great job

Great read. Am I missing something, or does TL not have a "Favorite thread" feature?
|
A great guide. Thank you. I experience a couple of things that ensure I will never have a consistently high APM (not just the 'age' factor mentioned in my post earlier). Bookmarked for a re-read - so much good advice/info.

pretty cool guide. well written and comprehensive.

Great guide still reading it Im pretty sure you trounced me on ladder a few days ago >.<

Could we get a link to PDF file for this? Great read... thanks a ton!
|
Just came across this again, read it again, great read for anyone who plays with low APM (like me), so worth a bump for justice!
|
Nice guide man. What do you do for a living? You could totally write for gaming/SC2 websites!
Anyways, my feedback to get your article from a 9 to a 10? Pictures. Just to break the pages up a bit.

Now can someone write a guide for players with relatively high APM?
Almost all my wins are due to my harassment / multi-proned attacks, where my opponent falls apart and I win due to superior management/multitasking.
And all my losses are due to sitting in my base and playing the macro game. I just feel so inadequate when it comes the "mind" aspect of the game (if I can't harass effectively or gain sort of macro advantage through other means I just die to equal economy opponents, simple as that -_-), and I ALWAYS rely on my mechanics to win games by simply being faster than my opponent.
T user, ~1100 US masters peak and currently playing in China in mid-masters with ~ 250/160 APM/EAPM (sc2gears).

Ah, the APM hysteria that started when people first found at that, yes, good players usually do more stuff in the space of a minute! So now everyone is a blind spammer.
I can understand that some players spam commands out-of-combat to keep focused, but does this really cover all players? Do you get more productive by spamming commands that doesn't ahve any effect?
I bet some of them are just spamming so that their APM stats look like the pros.

Casting/abilities - Zerg has the Queen which is very frequently used, as it is nearly required for macro. Common zerg attacking units do not have abilities unless burrow is researched. Overlord/overseer have abilities to increase map vision, which is required for competent play. Zerg has one offensive caster, the infestor
What about the corruptor? 'corruption' is an offensive ability.

Hi bumblebees. Can I translate this to Turkish? Of course i will add your link and your name too :D
