"Did you search it?" "YA!" "Well, search it again, because you missed it, three times in a row"
And another tip:
If the ONLY thing good to say is how much that person sucks at Starcraft (or whatever it is)... either take it to the Letting Off Steam thread or post something on another website + Show Spoiler [*cough*] + ... TL is NOT the place for your rage

For whatever reason, most mods are pretty bloody funny so read whenever they say things, even if only for the (potential) laughs.
Also read the post if its by SirJolt. =)

I think that the most important thing, and what makes TL special, is to recognize that this is not just a webpage but an actual community. It has a culture and social norms, and you need to be familiar with them to engage in the community in a way that isn't abrasive to other members. It's well worth spending a few weeks or months in read-only mode to get to know TL before jumping in and taking part in the discussions.
I also think it's very important to bring a large dose of humility when you start posting on TL. We're all smart about something, but very, very few of us are as smart about Starcraft as the established members of this community. It's very worthwhile to spend some time thinking before you post anything SC related: Do I 100% know that this is correct? And still to be ready to admit that you're wrong when a more knowledgable member of the community points out the flaws in your thinking.

As somebody said, don't use.. the B word... unless you're referring to somebody who is *officially* a bonjwa. Even then, it's probably smart to only use it when talking about NaDa, boxer, or somebody else who it is impossible to have anything but love for.
Seriously, I once saw a forum newbie talk about how Destiny and Spanishiwa should be great "bon jwas" (HE PUT A SPACE BETWEEN BON AND JWAS, WHAT THE FUCK?), and he was KILLED verbally by the collective of TL.

If you want to post a reply in a thread, go do something else first for just a minute. You'll be amazed how often you realize that the post you had in mind doesnt't really add anything or is useless.

-Follow the MOD warnings on top of certain threads e.g. When they say each post must contain a picture in the SFW Random Pic thread, they mean it.
-If you aren't Diamond don't post for help in the Strategy section. If you aren't high Diamond or low Master don't post in there either to give advice. They say you can, but fuck it just don't you get banned every time.
-We all know 70% of the community never watches replays/VODs, but don't actually say you can't and just get info from other posts and try to sum up a summary of what they say. Never say you are at work/can't watch it.
-Don't quote someone and just say nothing, or this, or +1. Just say I agree and repeat his thesis for a free post.
-If you want free posts go to LR threads and type OWNED or WOW WTF everytime a battle ends.
-No one actually watches your replay packs if you aren't at least Grandmaster, they just comment and say you're good for a post. I feel like making a blog on getting around TL now. Almost every piece of advice you give starts good, but then careens off into inanity. My advice: don't listen to this guy.

If you have a hobby, chances are some people on TL share it, and chances are there are people on TL who made a comprehensive thread on it.
TL is also a great place to pick up and learn new things. I always search TL along with Google and Wikipedia.
Threads I've found: Cooking Health and Fitness Science help/discussion TL Go Group FPS Servers MineCraft Server Local StarCraft fans
There is a world of information in TL

Chill, get out of the mindset that anything you say is acceptable, and think if you'd be willing to tell what you want to post to a complete stranger face to face.
Be very tolerant in what you read, there are lots of unintentional trolls, and sometimes, you gotta skate over some of the more obnoxious people and read the good stuff.
Have just enough common sense or else it's GG NO RE for your account.
