I'm surprised there is no thread about this yet. This game is insanely good, at least the demo. I never saw TotalBiscuit that excited and enoying a game this much (gameplay starts around 03:00). After i saw the vid I instantly downloaded he demo from steam and man, playing it is even more fun than watching I highly recommend everyone who likes ego shooters to try it out. its so awesome
i always thought this game looked kinda lame in previews but when I actually played the demo I had a lot more fun than I thought I would. I'm still worried that the gameplay will get pretty boring after a while because the melee combat system seems very shallow (only "4" basiccombos, but each 1 is just build off of the the previous one, with 4 more that just add the stun button to the end). No sense of timing or skill required in it. however the gameplay isnt quite about that, but more about just murdering thousands and thousands of orks. i just dont know how long that can actually be fun for. i really hope it doesnt turn out to be one of those games that more about just watching shit die instead of being about the gameplay.
I played the demo a couple hours of ago. The assault mission was pretty fucking badass. Overall the gameplay was a 7/10 not THAT easy on the hardest setting. You can easily die, I was one shotted by the exploding squigs or whatever they are called. Power Axe = AWESOME.
wow, i dont like 3rd person shooters much but this game is fun. It gets pretty crazy in the fights, keep your nades for when they start swarming you. hard mode is the best because it's still challenging but not impossible. oh and when you get jetpack, you become unstoppable.
The shooting is really good, but the melee, it feels like I have to wait after each strike to do one again. It doesn't flow well IMO. I was pretty dissapointed by that, I like spectacle fighters.

well, mix it up start shooting after a melee combo and switch back to melee again

A space marine is not a some ninja-sissy; he's a walking tank. There's some weight behind each strike, son!

there is a huge storage box right beside the ammo in the last room of the first mission. it doesnt look like you can use it, but you can i also only found it randomly, but that axe is damn cool. too bad you can only use it in that last room
Hopefully there's more interesting combos and weapons in the full game. As sweet as the combat is it'll be hard to keep it engaging for hours on end. Multiplayer has a lot of potential, will be cool to see how it works out.
i cant stop playing the demo. i actually like the combat because its more than button mashing. you cant just swing your sword and run in blind. also, it forces you to drop your gun and melee at times so you can get your health back up. sweet game, cant wait until it comes out.
Do you think we will be able to turn on helmets in this game? the helmets look cool
you mean the inquisitor who looks like the evil dude from the fifth element doesn't look retarded?
It's 40k. The story is always
-there is war! -also did we mention there is only war! -you are losing -you are the most badass mutherfucker in the universe. -you are still losing. That's how fucked this situation is. -Suddenly CHAAAAAAAAAAAAOSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! -Everybody dies. Except for the demons, they just get banished messily for a hundred and one years -You fight X enemy lord of doom on the wing of a hypersonic shuttle plunging into a black hole, stripped of your armor and set on fire, armed only with your wits and a set of bagpipes. You both kill each other in an impressively ridiculous fashion, the shuttle then explodes and what's left is sucked into the black hole. The black hole also explodes. -This apparently counts as winning, so the two fingers and an eyeball that remain of the planet's population have a wild party and die of alcohol poisoning. -The inquisition arrives and blows up the planet through use of bombastic music and terrible choirs. -the (GRIMDARK) end.
And you know? I wouldn't want it any other way.
Addendum: I do actually have issues with a lot of the 40k games of late. 40k's story is always about the fact that everybody dies. There is NEVER a happily ever after. The measure of a hero is how many people he takes with him when he explodes in the most spectacular fashion imaginable. It is accepted in the canon that the terms 'winner' and 'martyr' are synonymous. I don't like the trend in DoW where you kind of save people and actually achieve something *and survive*. That's not how 40k works, it's an entropic universe. Every victory costs more to achieve than it accomplishes.
if there was a happy ending then it wouldnt be grimdark as for the game, it fucking rocks. id recommend to people to try it on hard, really makes you use all the abilities at your disposal.
