Day 1 It was a sinister night. Why it was sinister no one would have been able to say. Perhaps it was the unpleasant warmness, the fact that the stars seemed blotted and faded in the moonless night, or the slight tang of sulfur in the air. Perhaps it was something supernatural that was simmering in the night. Whatever it was it didn’t deter the three men as they approached the ancient chapel. “Your source is reliable, right?” Ver asked for at least the tenth time. “As reliable as these things get” Qatol replied with a heavy sigh. “shhh” insisted the third man, BloodyC0bbler “the last thing we need is these bastards to hear us coming”. As they neared the crumbling door of the chapel the gargoyles loomed, silent and brooding, watching the three intrepid, or perhaps foolish, men approach. As they approached, a low, droning chant could be heard in the clear night. Guns glinting in the dark the three men darted towards the door, only to stop suddenly when a figure materialized from the shadows. “Welcome, Gentlemen” GMarshal spoke, a devilish grin dancing on his face, “this is quite the night to be out and about, don’t you think?”. The three men didn’t even hesitate, the supernatural aura around GMarshal was enough to reveal to them that he was a threat. Three guns roared into the night, shattering the silence, followed by a bloodcurdling scream. When Qatol’s eyes recovered from the blinding flash of the guns GMarshal was nowhere to be seen, and BloodyC0bbler lay in a puddle of his own blood , having had both his arms ripped off and his stomach gutted. Ver and Qatol looked at each other as GMarshal spoke from behind. “That wasn’t too nice of you, was it? All I was asking was what you wanted here, and you had to try to shoot me. Now I have to kill you. You should know better than to meddle with what you don’t understand”. Qatol and Ver both raised their guns to fire once again, but they were slow off the mark, in single, impossible motion GMarshal stood from his crouch, jumped and barreled into Ver toppling him to the ground. With a massive, gory bite Ver’s head was severed from his neck, covering GMarshal in blood . Rage coursing through his veins Qatol fired, and fired and fired, each shot knocking GMarshal backwards, blood spurting from every wound. GMarshal toppled crumbling to the ground, and Qatol moved in, his eyes alight with hatred, to take the finishing shot. Pressing his gun against GMarshal’s head, Qatol was utterly shocked when instead of a hand he found he had a bleeding stump, and that GMarshal was looking up at him, a malicious grin stretching across his face, revealing row after row of glinting, sharp teeth, covered in blood. “Fool” GMarshal snickered grabbing Qatol by the neck with both hands. “nothing short of holy silver is going to stop a deamon from the very pits of hell!” GMarshal roared, driving his teeth into Qatol’s neck, causing blood to fountain upward, spraying the still silent gargoyles. GMarshal stood, laughing and laughing, when his mirth was abruptly interrupted by a bolt from a crossbow thudding into his chest. GMarshal laughter quickly turned to screams of agony as the blessed silver tip burned him, dark smoke emerging from the wound as a cloaked figure walked dropped down from the roof of the chapel. "It seems" the hooded figure spoke "that I have found you at last". Sandroba cast aside his cloak as he drew two blades, whose glowing silver sheen cut the night. GMarshal reeled back, and then suddenly burst out laughing. "Indeed," GMarshal growled "it seems you have, but this time you come alone, and you are but a puny human, all the silver in the world won't be enough to overcome me when wielded by something so *fragile*" Without a word sandroba surged forward, inhumanly fast, equally fast GMarshal leaped forward to meet him. Meet they did, in a flurry of blows and parries, attacks and counterattacks, almost faster than anyone watching would have been able to absorb the two clashed and clashed again. GMarshal fell backwards, a huge steaming wound across his chest. Sandroba stepped forwards, thrusting his blade through GMarshal's chest and causing him to vomit blood. Still skewered on the holly blade GMarshal smiled, his grin contorting and ripping wider than a grin is meant to go, revealing hundreds upon hundreds of glinting metal teeth. The grin grew even more, ripping the muscles of GMarshal's face as it opened to reveal a vast gaping portal to the darkness beyond. From the portal a hand emerged, lightning fast, and grabbed sandroba pulling him in before he could even blink. With an ear-shattering scream GMarshal crumbled to dust. sandroba would never be heard from again. The next morning the villagers were amazed to find a huge metal tree, with thousands of spikes standing where the ancient chapel used to be. Waiting atop it was a sinister looking statue, made of dark metal and covered in spikes, it resembled a suit of armor designed for someone with four arms. Above it read the name "shrike" below it an inscription. "I am the executioner, you the judges". As the town stood in bewildered confusion, wondering what had happened and inspecting the nearby bodies, the statue spoke. "Six of you carry the darkness in your souls, the rest are free of that sin. Which shall own me, the pure or the tainted? These left living shall decide” The town knew what had to be done. The menacing spikes of the tree of thorns had a clear function. Ver the Head of Police has been eviscerated Qatol the Detective has died in the line of duty BloodyC0bbler the Veteran Officer has been torn to pieces GMarshal, Eligos, the Deamon has been utterly destroyed Sandroba the deamon hunter has been cast to the pits of hell The Shrike has materialized It is now day 1!
