To my dear gifted HuK,
I’m writing you a letter. That’s right a good old-fashioned letter. It’s a lost art really—like 4gating. Shit. I have a confession to make; I didn’t like you very much at first. You were this little blob, drawing hearts with your waypoints from your scouting probe. You were entertaining, most of the time. But you didn’t seem to have very much interest in winning, which of course I found out to be false. It was just you, your keyboard, and your weird nexus hotkey against the world. Funny how some things never change. So I cruised along doing my thing, acting a fool, not really understanding how being a brotoss changes you. And I don’t remember the exact moment that everything changed. I just know that it did.
One minute I was impenetrable executing the 4gate. Nothing could touch me (in platinum league). The next my pylons were somehow vulnerable, exposed to the probes particle beams. Watching you grow as a player has been the most profound, intense, painful experience of my Starcraft 2 journey. In fact its been almost too much to bear. As a fellow brotoss, I made a silent vow to defend you from the world (read: haters, but mostly IdrA and his fanboys). Never realizing that you were the one who would end up hurting me the most.
When I flash forward my heart breaks, mostly because I can’t imagine you writing “TL” in pylons anymore, how could you? You joined the darkside. Your teammate, IdrA is a child trapped in a slightly older child’s body; he cares for nothing and argues about imbalance all the time. Novel in thought, weak in action.
I understand why you did it, I truly do. I’d do the same. The career that you chose is a very unstable one, you have little time to accomplish and earn what you can before the game craps out or your skills crap out. And at the end of the day, you’re human and just want to know that your future is secure.
I just want you to remember the things that made you; you. Remember the time on your stream, when somebody randomly said “You should wear a hat while playing”, and then you, the fucking boss player you are, magically whip out a motherfucking TOP HAT from out of nowhere and put it on and continue your superb blink micro. Or that time you were being stream sniped by some fucker so you had to make your stream screen tiny and you yelled out “LOOK AT MY SCREEN NOW. YOUR’RE GOING TO NEED THAT MAGNIFYING GLASS THAT YOU USE TO SEE YOUR LITTLE TINY DICK FUCKER ”, had me bursting of laughter at 4am. Or the times you played that funny little random race car game with oGs and at the beginning you would make the ”vrrooom, vroooom, vroom” sound, then every time you yelled out “KILL SUPERNOVA” but in the end everyone killed you and then you had to go buy everybody ice cream—multiple times. It’s these little things that made me a fan. I hope you don’t lose your personality or sense of humor whilst treading the darkside.
Like any breakup, somebody always gets hurt. You were our hometown hero (no pun intended), you were our golden boy, you were our chosen one, you were—dare I say it, our LeBron James. And like LeBron James, you just up and left and made a spectacle of it. Left us with a void in our hearts and unpowered it when you left. I will always cheer for you deep down, I really will. I just don’t know when yet. I just can’t root for THAT team. Not right now. They say time heals all wounds, and if that’s true, I’m going to need a lot of time (talking Blizzard time). I hope you understand why I’m hurt. I’m not asking anything of you but to be yourself and maybe that will help heal these wounds quicker.
Sincerely,
A hearbroken fan, but a fan nonetheless. </3.
Inspired by Californication.

One of the best records regular season and second place finish (GSL Finals?) Sweet.

Writing TL takes 9 pylons (although you could do 7 if you really wanted to). Writing EG takes at least 20, so I doubt we'll be seeing that anytime soon...

I read the title on the left side as "to my dear girlfriend"....
Anyway GL to HuK at EG !

The question will be answered in GCPL in 4 days.

Hmm... Starcraft is an individual sport not a team sport.. like wrestling, tennis, or golf... individuals win and lose. not teams. gogogo huk!

The Lebron analogy is quite apt

I have to disagree. In the game it may be 1v1, but do you think Huk got there all by himself? He had support and help from all his teammates. His team made an effort to make Huk succeed and he did. While he is amazingly skilled and I am not trying to take away from him as an individual, saying individuals win and lose not teams seems to be unfair to all the people who put all that time in along side Huk.

HuK's success lands him large compensation and support of a new team. WHAT A SAD DAY. seriously people.. be happy for huk, anyone saying its sad hes leaving liquid are saying that for their own selfish reasons.

Just a super tiny caveat: stream-sniping just means that you watch a stream to see when the streamer queues up a game, and you do it at the same time to try to get a game with the streamer. Stream-cheating/stream-watching is the situation in which you actually watch the stream as you play the person~
|
It's sad that he's not on TL anymore, but come on he still plays starcraft. It's not like he won't ever stream again and will somehow become as cynical and grumpy as Idra. Personally, I expect everything to go back to normal soon.

So your point is he owes his success to practice partners. This is indeed fair. He does. But that makes his relationship with a team the same as a relationship with a sponsor that put him in the OGS house. There are PLENTY of people that helped HuK get to where he is today, and those people will still be there, helping him now.... I view this as more of a change in sponsors than a change in 'teams' in a team-sport related sense....
