I never saw a Third Strike machine the whole time I was in Japan in winter 2009. I actively looked for one. The one time I played vanilla SF4 against a Japanese guy I got doubled perfected by Blanka. | ||

Not to mention that with SF4 the gap has grown even shorter, look at Latif's awesome run at EVO. Another BW comparison: can you see any American player taking down the BW equivalents of Daigo? (basically like someone beating Flash). MvC3's where I think we actually beat them out. MvC2 Japanese players hardly played so if we beat them it's not really that great of a thing but most of the top Japanese players played MvC3 at EVO and didn't do nearly as well as top Americans. Are Japanese fighting gamers typically better than non-Japanese? Yes, but that gap's closing and isn't so huge anymore. | ||

There aren't really any 3s cabs left in Japan, if you go back head to Game Spot Versus Arcade (6 machines), Game Bingo arcade (8 machines), Kokujin's arcade (I have no idea what it's called/where it is, but i was told he has cabs), or God's Garden (They have four iirc). The japanese 3rd strike scene died pretty much right as sf4 came out, all the big names switched over (Nuki, KO, KZ, Yamagata, Daigo, RX, Kokujin, etc) except Kuroda, and as far as I know Kuroda has quit playing altogether. The current scene of players are pretty terrible, comparatively. | ||

This game is amazing. Even though I am 100% garbage at it, I can see why it has such a dedicated following. Some of my favorite things about this game compared to arcade edition: 1) no shortcuts like in sf4 (ex: can't hold down forward and go df down df to shortcut a dp) 2) the dashes, jumping, spacing, etc. in this game are so much more strategic 3) if you whiff or don't link/cancel a super properly you get completely fucked up by someone who knows what they are doing This game rules, and I love how when you play against a gosu you can barely even touch them if you don't know what you're doing. I cannot wait for the online edition to come out for xbox now  | ||
