So today the closed beta for Realm of the Titans started up. For those who don't know, it's a free MOBA similar to LoL/dota.
I was wondering if anyone else played and what they thought of it so far. From the two games I've played so far, the game seems pretty fun. I do feel as though it's hard to tell what's going on some times due to the visuals not always being quite clear, but the game does look good, and the champs seem at least decently diverse.
I hope this is different from their other games because that company loves making games with terrible programming in that you can't swap mouse buttons ever, something a lot of left-handed gamers do, making it unplayable for them.
Another one of these?! The "moba" community is already divided enough as it is I'm hoping when dota 2 comes around it will become more centralized again, but we'll see.

It won't be like BW and SC2, its the exact same game with a better engine and graphics, don't be stubborn, switch over.
DotA, HoN, and LoL are about as similar to each other as Halo, CoD, and Gears of War are. Don't be silly!

I'd say they're much more different from each other than those FPSes, especially HoN/DoTa vs LoL.
I don't think the DotA genre has enough room in it for multiple games. I could be worng, though. I'm content with LoL, and I don't really see any rason to switch. Especially if this is run by aeria games, lol.
And I don't think DOTA2 will make everyone from HoN and LoL go over, DOTA2 will be the hardcore/pro one, LoL will be for casuals/people who want to play free. HoN will be for people who don't realize the other 2 games exist.
After a few more games, there are a couple things I don't like about the game so far: 1. Some champs have autoattacks that don't even have particle effects, as in when you auto attack, your champ makes a motion and your target instantly takes damage, which feels weird (I am a LoL player)
2. Everything seems to have a long cooldown but does a lot of damage, and it makes for short battles where people get instagibbed, then everyone backs off waiting for cooldowns.
3. Also I don't like the UI. Seems clunky and it takes up SO much space.
I played a few games so far. I don't think its as fun as hon or lol. But since its still only closed beta I won't be too harsh on it. One thing that I really dislike though is that there is no center camera feature. Also some of the champions I played seems a little lackluster and were just not that enjoyable to play as.

Just wanted to let you know that aeria games doesn't make games they just publish them. All the games on their site are developed by different companies.
It's a lot better than lol (speaking as a hon player). I've played 3 games so far, some of the heroes are extremely weak (but this is a balancing issue)
Played this game and it just seems like it tried to take the good parts from HoN/LoL and mix them together.
What actually happened was more like they took half the bad parts from each as well.
Also, they failed their programming as the mouse buttons are not reversible. I honestly hope this company sinks because it seems like they just keep putting games out like that without the slightest care about left-handed gamers.

wait, left handed gamers switch left/right mouse buttons?
I'm left handed, been playing rts's for years, never heard of this. Wouldn't do me much good now anyways, so used to using my middle finger for left click.
How did the makers of this game imagine that it'd be at all popular, given the very divided DotA/HoN/LoL community and the upcoming DotA 2? I can't see them making a game good enough to set itself apart, without being a complete clone.
I have to say I don't like this very much so far. I play both HoN/DotA and LoL and can see that, in theory, it's taken some of the best aspects of both and combined them (denying, summoner spells(ish), etc) but it feels really really sluggish and slow. The attack animations have huge wind up times and the turning speed of the heroes is really slow too. Cosmetically it's not as good as HoN or LoL (I actually prefer LoL's graphics because they are brighter and clearer than HoN's).
Most games involve people just end up arguing about LoL vs HoN and how bad RotT is compared to their game of choice and just feels like any other Moba on a bad day.
That said, I do really like the idea of having a 'summoner spell' that you can change in game (on a cool down ofc). Some of the spells seem really useless though. I think they could cut the list down about 30-40% and I wouldn't miss them.
Now is possibly the worst time to release a moba game. I kinda feel bad for the developers. Since i have a long weekend, I might try it out, but not liking the graphics from the trailer.

Some of them do.
99% of the games either recognize the control panel setting or let you switch it in-game. This is one of those 1% games.
