If Flash doesn't make it back in time then I fancy SouL's chances.

But it is difficult to change as long as they allow six teams into post-season. I also doubt KeSPA would ever change the core format, regardless of the number of teams.

The only thing I don't like is how the 1st team gets an automatic seed to the finals, but given the amount of teams, there is very little they can do. I hope the rumors about Fox are untrue, because I don't know what they can do with a lower amount of teams.

Top five teams only There are 10 teams in PL, so it wouldn't be weird if the top 5 teams advanced to post-season. The result would be one less round (four is a bit long, no?) and the elimination of the semi final seed: Quarter Final A: 2nd vs 5th Quarter Final B: 3rd vs 4th V Semi Final: Winner (A) vs Winner (B) V Grand Final: 1st vs Winner of Semi Final Currently the 3rd to 6th place teams have beyond a dismal chance of winning the championship. A team could fight through three rounds (!) and make it to the Grand Final. However, they become so worn out and studied to death by that point that they get demolished by the 1st place team. Even the Masters of the Universe couldn't get it done last year. The majority of the league shouldn't be in the playoffs. The above format provides some relief to lower seeded teams. --------------- + Show Spoiler [Not feasible] + Top four teams only The grand final seed almost hands the championship to the 1st place team - it interferes with the spirit of competition. If only the top 4 teams were allowed to participate in the playoffs, there would be one less reason to maintain the seed. Semi Final A: 1st vs 4th Semi Final B: 2nd vs 3rd V Grand Final: Winner (A) vs Winner (B) PL is a far cry from MLB, NBA, and other major professional sports leagues (no ticket sales, minimal profit from merchandise sales). The weaker teams would be left in the dust year after year. They would receive less publicity and their sponsors would have less incentive to continue supporting them. But if 10 teams were to become 8 without causing the league to fall under, it might work.

I think I'd prefer it like this: Match 1: 6th vs 3rd Match 2: 4th vs 5th Match 3: Match 1 winner vs 2nd Match 4: Match 2 winner vs 1st Match 5 (final): Match 3 winner vs Match 4 winner In that case you should give the first a 1 point lead in the match, the same way you do when in a dual elimination tournament the winner of the losers bracket meets the winner of the winners bracket. Otherwise there is not advantage at all to finish first.

What Simplistik proposed is essentially the NFL playoffs format without the home field advantage.

They need the stronger seed advantages to keep up interest for 54 regular season games.
