So I asked a friend of mine (cosarara97) if we could make a simple application to open live broodwards streams from Afreeca in VLC, and welp, he did it.
Script: https://hastebin.com/kavomonowa.py Dependencies: vlc, streamlink, python, python-gobject, python-requests
It just uses whatever GTK theme you are using.
Screenshot using Arc-dark theme: https://i.imgur.com/AxUOvKL.png Usage: click the stream, wait a lot (15-30 secs~)

the year of the Linux desktop : )

Good stuff dude, thanks for sharing

I tried it and it worked well, though saving the script required clipboard use from that link.
my python symlink is python3, so dunno about earlier versions.

The streams opened in ~3 seconds. Not sure if it's just time of day, my afreeca plugin, or other factors.

Maybe because you got a SSD? My Linux installation is in a somewhat old drive

livestreamer doesn't support Afreeca?

Streamlink does.

I haven't tried the script, but I think you can make it work with other players by changing the line = ["streamlink", "https://play.afreecatv.com/"+id, "original"] to ["streamlink", "-p $PLAYER", "https://play.afreecatv.com/"+id, "original"]

It's streamlink that is slow. I installed it yesterday to see how it works.

I've created a native Windows application but that will take longer to finish than someone modifying the above Python script. However, if you're willing to wait, I can provide a link in the next few days (it's Easter here, hence delay).

This looks sick thank you!
But I type apt-get install kavomonowa in windows command prompt and it's not installing

Here's how the Windows application looks like so far. There are a few things to do before I give a link: - Refresh stream data (viewers) - Sorting/filtering of players - BW streams from Twitch as well - A bit more UI work
Edit: I've created a separate thread for this Windows application.

Stupid question, but doesn't windows also have GTK?
