Afreeca World is back with an event towards the end of the month, bigger than usual and partnered with OSC + Matcherino!
This event will feature 10 players instead of our regular 4 and will be our first event with a group stage.
We will be having two different groups with 4 invites players in each & 1 qualified player. All group matches will be BO3. The top player in each group will be seeded into the RO4 of the playoffs and 2nd/3rd of each group will play each other in a preliminary match.

An update is soO has been replaced by Rogue & TY is seeded into Group 1 for tomorrow!
Oh the prize for winning the qualifier was to choose your group? Well, "choosing". Pretty sure it's a no-brainer for both players that they'd rather be in group #2 instead of 1.
Okay seriously what is going on with Rogue? Never saw him play this abysmal, even during his earlier days when he had 2 personalities (happy Rogue, who consistently crushed the likes of Zest and herO) vs (sad Rogue, who lost everything and looked like the life was sucked out of him). This version reminds me of the old sad Rogue, but probably even worse :/
GG, top 3 advancing from group 1 are Hurricane, Solar, and Cure.
Cure advances due to head to head being our predetermined method of solving ties. This may be unpopular and we may adjust it for further events but it would be doing no one justice changing our ruling for a running event. I will be more clear with that in the future.

H2H is unpopular? I think when players tied the group and we have to decide which one of them advances, its obvious we should look at H2H first = who was stronger between the two of them and thus deserves to advance more. This is more important in tournaments where there are more "weaker" players. Honing your score on weaker players should only be a secondary factor. Granted it was not the case here but going by H2H is still better imo.
Sad for Rogue and TY to be eliminated, but they are slumping hard. The last match it didnt seem Hurricane played that seriosuly...

Yes, H2H before map score is generally frowned upon by the community and thus not used in big tournaments with round robins. As for Rogue and TY, they are always bad in this type of online competition. Not surprised.
Also for the record the 10th match was fully meaningless for every player in the group and could have been skipped.
