SC2 in Taiwan

SC2 in China

There is something I just want to say about the China scene right now: It is massive and constantly changing. There are domestic tournaments that we see some Koreans, Taiwanese, and Japanese going to without any known English streams to accommodate them. There have already been dozens like this in the past 2 years that I could not keep track of.

Also, I want to say that about 2 weeks ago there was a huge LAN in China that Sen went to and there was no English stream readily made available for it.

Cool. There really needs to be a global SC2 federation that every organisation worldwide needs to be a part of to accomodate for this kind of thing.

Quick question, does tourneys in China use twitch to stream? What website do they use? I understand the Chinese gov't censors some websites but it is twitch one of them?

Who ever runs this site needs to teach twitch how to now lag =P. Pretty good quality and I was watching multiple streams at once without any lagging(gogogo dungeon fighter pvp while waiting for dreamhack).

edit-LOL the guy restreaming twitch is listening to the outsourced theme.

So if HoTS hasnt been released yet in China all the tournaments are in WoL or they play HoTS using servers that are not based in China?

If you have battle net account created in China they you are bound to that region and WoL, however if the account is on any other BN server then it is still possible to play anywhere thanks to global pay.

Fengyunzhibo.com. People in Taiwan mostly use twitch because of internet connection speeds.

However, when you are outside of China, you cannot use fengyunzhibo.com to stream yourself or any tournament, really. You're stuck with twitch. Some people in China can stream to Twitch, but it all really depends on internet connection speeds.

In WCS NA (with the exception of dDream and iG.Xigua, who competed on EU), the players used SC2 Global accounts. SC2 HoTS is still not in China. It all depends on who sponsors an event and who creates the contracts (like how WCS NA is only casted in English, and how WCS EU has multiple different language streams). Does that make sense?

I was wondering how Chinese players train for tournaments. For a long time they werent participating in other tournaments than local LAN's and now we see quite good results from those players which means that they play HoTS already. It must be kinda difficult to play both expansions in order to take part in various tournaments. Unless some of them focused on HoTS exclusively.

Again, it depends on who sponsors and arranges what event. WCG Wild Cards involved only Chinese players, but it was sponsored by Korean company Samsung and the tournament itself was conducted on the KR/TW server even though all players and commentators (with the exception of myself) were located somewhere in China.

EDIT: Oh wait... sorry, I didn't answer your first question.

There are a few training houses, and I want to say that the Chinese guys who have made it in to GM on the KR/TW ladder are equal to, more or less, a lot of Korean Code A players. So perhaps similar training curriculums, but they might cut it down to 10-12 hours a day as opposed to the largely hyped 14 hours each day in Korea. Please take my last statement (largely hyped) with a grain of salt, I actually have no clue if its true or not simply because I have not met anyone who has been to a Korean training house.

However, I will definitely talk to HelloKittySC2 and ask him about it because he is presently in Wuhan, Hubei, China at the iG training house.

Yea seriously so sad, WCS China would be much more interesting than WCS Americas IMO.

There is one more thing that I failed to mention in the video on the China scene: There is no website that will "mono-polarize" (I made that word up) starcraft 2 the same way that teamliquid.net does. Sc2clan.tw does that painfully well for the Taiwan scene, but it doesn't quite have stats for players in Taiwan like TLPD does (to the best of my knowledge anyway). So, basically, the SC2 Scene in China is divided across several websites the same way that one might find the LoL Scene in America.
