ESWC just announced there won't be any SC2 tournament at ESWC 2013 due to scheduling conflicts with WCS Global Finals.
Quick translation :
"According to the plan, we'll announce today three games that will be part of the pool of official disciplines at ESWC 2013.
However, StarCraft 2 HotS will not be part of the selection process, despite our proposal to Blizzard. Indeed, we work for several weeks with Blizzard Europe eSports teams on a reasonable way to coexist and even connect, ESWC events and its 1-3 November finals with the overall WCS project and its 8-9 November finals. To date, our schedules completely overlap ; and the proximity of the final dates, on which no one can move, makes every sport assimilation very complicated. We want to share our disappointment with the players, champions and fans of the title. We wish all the best to WCS events in 2013.
As we have done for 13 years, through the organization of hundreds of tournaments on Starcraft Broodwar, Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2, we will continue in the future, as far as possible, to imagine and produce operations for the development of e-sports, along with Blizzard. Postponed."

Ah bummer, I was wondering if they could improve on last year's shameful performance. Oh well!

Well, seeing how they handled the last one, I won't say I'll miss it that much...
MaNa vs Stephano was quite good, but come on, MaNa vs forGG was just a mess, with crappy schedule (9:00 am ...) and crappy format (how can you claim to crown a "World champion", as they believe they do, with a Bo3 finals...).
There was like 50 people max in the crowd, I felt so bad...

Well ESWC was always a letdown. So I dont care much about this. If there are scheduling issues its compkletly ok. Maybe next time again

This is not in any way a good thing. First NASL (probably) now ESWC. As good as WCS is shaping up to be, we always need competition. I don't understand why anyone is ok with Blizzard's rules when it comes to shit like this. Monopolizing is NEVER a good thing so why are we so content with Blizzard doing exactly that?

What evidence is there of NASL not having another season? Unless there is some actual evidence to support this, saying that Blizzard has now killed off two tournaments, one of which was just plain bad last time, is just hyperbole.

There goes Stephano's last hope.

Have you missed all of the recent discussion related to NASL? There is no official confirmation yet but it's looking extremely likely.

For starters, there's currently three WCS tournaments each day, each going a handful hours or more. Given that you're not allowed to stream other big tournaments during that, it makes it literally impossible to have another daily tournament/show besides that.

This is going to end bad for SC2 and it's players..
there shouldn't be a plan to kill all sc2 tournaments to only exist WCS...

These are the kind of hiccups were going to bump into now that we've gone with the WCS system. t'll be back next year I imagine

expected alot of shut downs when they announced their LoL like world tournament system. So unsurprising but still sad.

ESWC has been one of the worst tournaments for years and years. While it sucks that WCS is creating friction with independent tournament hosts I wouldn't be concerned til this starts affecting better and more prominent tournaments like Iron Squid and if NASL doesn't actually do anything this year.
If prize money for the year is down despite Blizzards big injection, then I think Blizz need to rethink their policies and become more lenient towards having other competitions on while WCS runs

Did ESWC pay the players?

I feel bad that another tourney won't be hosting SC2 since more exposure is always good for the teams, sponsors, players and of course audience but if ESWC does another last year-like event, I think it did a bit more bad than good. Money tho.
