How come when I go on fish server I can see and read the text in the main window fine and type in korean there, but if I go into a game I can't read other's texts or type in korean anymore

If you just set your system locale to Korean, you will be able to see korean and type it in the bnet menus and what not, but not in game. IIRC if you want to be able to display and type korean in game, I think you need to switch your whole Windows to Korean,

Or change the unicode thing under the Administrative tab to read korean.

I have the same problem as the OP.
I have changed all the regional language settings to korean. (format, location, keyboards, system locale - all korean)

Yet i stil cannot type korean in game lobby.
The korean is displayed perfectly but I cannot type any korean.

You mean it displays as gibberish or you can only type abcdefqwerty?

Have you changed your time settings? Thats what fixed it for me.

EDIT: NVM thats format..idk then.

u see the KO in bottom right corner but still cant write korean?
edit: nvm
try changing to KO ingame using shift + alt, then "alt gr" once so u type korean. no idea if u did it so before

Outside of BW, I can read and type korean.
Inside BW chat channel, I can read korean but cannot type korean. (I can copy and paste korean though).
Inside BW game lobby, I can read korean but cannot type korean nor can I copy and paste korean.

I know what alt- shift does but what is alt - gr?

even with changing your "fonts" with shift + alt?
when u are in "KO" the "alt gr" key will change between "asd" and "ㅁㄴㅇ"

I already tried toggling with alt+shift. doesnt work.
what is alt + gr? Do i have to gress gr at the same time?

key is located at right side of "space" (unless u have funky strange non-standard keyboard)
i think ctrl + alt works too

It turns out that i just have to hit the 'gr' key and now i can type korean. i dont have to press alt.

I never heard of the 'gr' key b4.
I use a keyboard with nothing printed on the keys. its a blank keyboard.
Thanks for showing me this key for switching languages. very useful

yeah I have same thing as OP but I never changed my time setting (only changed system locale, and obviously the keyboard setting). Never really played around with it much though, will probably try it soon. Haven't tried to play on fish in a while though.

Also one thing I don't get is when I toggle to the korean keyboard (alt shift to toggle between I default english and then microsoft IME korean input, and altgr to toggle between hangul/english on microsoft IME korean input) the right control key doesn't work. It's annoying to hotkey things as 8/9/0 when it's set to that. Did anyone else run into this problem? Because I'd like to play more on fish and be able to try to type very very simple korean phrases to communicate some but don't want to always alt shift so that I can have access to hotkeying 8/9/0.

I dont have to alt shift to go back to english.
I just press the key right next to the space bar. (Just that key alone)
Try that and see if ur right control works.

no I mean the korean keyboard has english and korean so I never need to use the english default one (the altgr switches between hangul and english), but the korean keyboard for me the right control doesn't work (this includes control-c or anything with control function)
