Edit: Upon further research I see that the Cops and Robbers DLC and the Big Surf Island aren't being released for PC, do not support this game. Support games that support their PC fanbase.

Sim City 4 is amazing, I don't know where you are coming from saying it is worse than SimCity 3000. Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition has nothing but pure depth, strategy and amazing additions to the game. I suggest you download of the mods from Simtropolis, but otherwise, this game is a whole new level of Sim City and brings a justified end to the Genre. It's great!

Modding aside, original game is just as good by itself. The game actually requires skills to a grow a city full of highrise buildings, before that even a reality you have to tackle problem like pollutions, traffics and money! Sure you can have alot of poor sims living in shitty ugly high rise buildings, but the real goal is attract medium and high wealth sims. To do that you must also have very good services such as good police, education, health coverage, which all cost alot of money. High wealth jobs are also part of the requirement such as high tech industry, but non would actually pop up unless you stastify the condition like high average EQ and low pollution. Everything might seems easy at first but as city grows, the problem become worse and worse, you might find a high wealth cordon simply abandoned due to long communte time. So it's really upto you if you want to turn a city into a slum or a paradise for the richs. It is very satisfying when you achive all of the above, and no doubt Simcity 4 is the best one in the series.

Still I'm really excited about this and for £9 on steam that's a hell of a lot of game for your money. Especially with the inevitable ton of mods that will follow shortly. I've been playing M&B since around 2007 when it was still in development (paid a small price to get early copies pre-release, and help fund the development) and got Warband last year. I've been looking at With Fire And Sword but it doesn't seem to be that good, especially from the feedback on the official forum. I'll give it a while and see what issues are taken care of via patches.
