yeah, it's kind of hard to pull off with the insane apm required, i practised it alot in 2v2 games where i think it's actually even more powerful than in 1v1s, plus you have some more room for mistakes and learning

Surely the whole point of an invitational is so that players DON'T have an easy ride in the early rounds? That's what seperates them from open tournaments like Zotac.
There are enough elite players out there to fill a 16 man invitational that is competitive and has exciting games from the first round to the last.
Throwing a few celebrity names in there might create some buzz when the tournament is announced but when it comes time to play the games and they can't hang with the players who ARE there based on skill then the matches between them will inevitably suck.

I will make my first post on TL.net (yay) just for this. Pretty awesome so far, even if a few matches were less interesting it's really a blast to see the amount of work you two guys have putted up for this.
And I'm sure the next tournaments (emphasis on the S ) Will be even greater. Keep up the good work.

Same time for tonight as yesterday?

It's true that HD & Husky designed the brackets for entertainment value, but why is it decided that this entertainment value did not extend to matching perceived skill levels in most cases? I doubt HD & Husky wanted one-sided games, and while matches like Orb v. Idra, Artosis vs. TLO, and Day9 v. Tasteless were almost certainly done for entertainment purposes, I don't think they expected CauthonLuck v. KawaiiRice, Jinro v. White-Ra, InControl v. Nazgul, and Nony v. Moonglade to be so one-sided. Can you really say, before the matches, that the outcomes between these players were certain? Hell, even now I'm not convinced that some of these matches were truly lop-sided in terms of player skill. From what FA said, his match vs. White-Ra, for example, seemed to have been just a build-order win for White-Ra.
And there have already been some upsets. I don't think most people expected Ret to pull a win from LzGamer, yet he did.
Sure, there were other players they could've invited if they strictly wanted contests of skill. They could've invited Haypro or Demuslim. They could've invited Huk or Sheth or Machine. They could've invited some Korean players like Fruit Seller or Maka. Or better yet they could have not made it an invitational and instead held open qualifiers for all. But given that this is an invitational and they wanted some "known names" who might not have gotten to play, otherwise, I don't think the choice of players and brackets are particularly bad. There's at least a 50-50 split here between "known names" and "current pros," and in terms of brackets, there was at least an attempt to make the "known names" play other "known names" and the "current pros" play other "current pros."

We are currently waiting on Orb vs IdrA, TLO vs Artosis, and Day[9] vs Tasteless to be sent to us.
They are all scheduled to play within the next 24 hours. Once we have those replays we will be posting our next livestream date/time. I fly out of San Fran today so it wont be posted until late tonight/early tomorrow should we get all the replays in time.

Some of you guys are forgetting that Battle.net was done the last few days, so some of these players are going into these matches with very little practice. Massing games the night before their match isn't going to help them either.

Did you really think this was going to be a super serious tournament to find out the best of the best of the best? Just watch the intro, look at the 3rd place prize logo, and with all due respect, day9/tasteless. It's a fun tournament with big SC1 names/TL SC2 streamers a lot of fans can recognize that just happens to have a really big prize pool. Yes if HDH followed the EuroSC2 scene closer maybe some slight changes could have been made, but I doubt anyone expected the kind of lop-sided, quick games we've seen so far. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but the roster has solid players more than capable of providing entertaining matches. The results so far just make the RO8 that much more interesting, so just relax and enjoy the rest of the tournament!
Props to HDH for handling their first tournament very well. They've gone to great lengths to accomodate both the players and the fans. Looking forward to more tournaments by them, I'm sure they'll apply the lessons learned from this one and improve in the future.

I think some of you need to tone it down with the criticism.
Yep I played like shit. I have my excuses but I'm not going to go through them because frankly it doesn't matter. Nazgul was the better player and it showed.
On another day I'd win or give much better games. Vs another opponent same deal. I have no idea why you guys are babbling about "name recognition" when I sit on top of the platinum league each time I play and I do just fine in other tourneys.

Winning wouldn't be fun if you never lost a game. You've gotta admit the fashion in which you lost was quite humorous, and maybe you don't see it now because you might still be upset considering the prize pool, but you live and you learn.
$10 says you'll watch the replay a couple weeks down the line and laugh about all of it.
Not to mention you wouldn't get any "criticism" which I don't believe any of it was meant in a harmful manner if you weren't a good, notable player.
It's only beta, there will be many more opportunities to seek vengeance against nazgul, and win as well.
In the end it's no big deal man. Also the thread I made was all in good fun.

Can you please tell me why you think those players have name recognition?
Hint: It's because they're good.

I had a great Starcraft Sunday yesterday. Thanks HD & Husky; despite the problems, it was fun to watch. Also thanks to thegunrun & GLHF.tv (also Day[9]).
From what day9 said, I take it that the issue with LiveStream is when you have thousands of viewers, going offline then going back online will cause major issues. I guess Ustream has a different architecture, or since GLHF.tv is online 24/7 they don't have the same problem.
Major props for GLHF & thegunrun for being very professional with the setup. The image overlay was great. I didn't even notice they prepared fake Game 3 files sometimes since I intentionally look away from the screen when they load the replays. Playing music during intermissions is also great. These little things really help with the overall audience experience. GLHF.tv is a great host. Maybe one thing to suggest is to add some overlay text/image that says "x Minutes Intermission - Next game: aaa vs bbb". That will help people who joined in the middle of the intermission period.
The commentaries were also great by HD & Husky. Very entertaining, with little pause or mistakes. I like commentaries that explain how things and strategies work, so not just pointing out what's happening on the screen. Perhaps you guys should mention the sponsor at the beginning of each game, just to make them happy .
I love when the community works together like this. Let people do what they are best at. GLHF at hosting and streaming, HD & Husky at commentating, and Day[9] at being awesome .
Looking forward the next 3 (hopefully) epic matches: - TLO vs Artosis - IdrA vs Orb - Day[9] vs Tasteless!!!

Nony has to get through Nazgul first. Ooh, that's gotta hurt, playing your own teammate and one of the best European Protoss.
As for Idra, he has to get through Orb and Ret.
