Q: It’s your 3rd consecutive Ro16 appearance
A: I’m happy that I won a Bo series after a long time. I’ve been slumping a lot lately, and I think I can use today to get back up again.
Q: Your reason for slumping?
A: I practiced pretty hard, but because I wasn’t performing well, my fans started to worry about me. I also became very confused. However, in order not to make those worries again, I’ll have to start doing well again.
Q: I think it’s your first slump since debut
A: After losing for a while, I became used to it. It was really hard for me, but thanks to my manager and coaches, I was able to settle my mind and endure it. Even today, I was only able to win with their advices.
Q: Your ZvZ hasn’t been good
A: I’m usually really confident with my ZvZ, but because I lost unexpectedly, my record was bad. However, when I saw that teams were sending out Zergs to snipe me in Winner’s League, I became enraged and couldn’t play the games calmly. As a result, my records have been falling as well as my skills. I think I can find confidence in ZvZ again.
Q: You must have wanted
PianO to advance because your records were bad against FireFistA: I wanted Piano to advance (laughs). Although I was worried when Firefist advanced, I thought that I must win.
Q: You must have had a time because your team’s records have been dropping at the same rate
A: I was acting as the ace player for the team, but I was surprised by performing poorly and it was indeed hard for me. I feel sorry for my teammates as well, because it feels like I affected them.
Q: Your build order for all 3 games were identical
A: A lot of it is mental game. Because my record against him was bad, and because I’ve been on a losing streak, I used a safe build, and Firefist saw that and went for 12 Hatchery all the games. It was surprising to be in the same situation all 3 games.
Q: You tried a Sunken rush in game 1
A: I tried it, but because he found out quickly, I didn’t feel good. However, I used that to become more spiteful and I ended up playing better.
Q: Ro16 players are really strong
A: It’s fun to play against good players. It’s more enjoyable to prepare for it, so I think this will be a fun Ro16.
Q: Your teammate

Q 3연속 16강에 진출했다.
A 다전제에서 너무 오랜만에 이겨 기분이 좋다. 최근 너무 부진했는데 오늘을 계기로 다시 뛰어오를 수 있을 것 같다.
Q 최근 부진했던 이유가 있다면.
A 나름대로 열심히 연습을 했는데 성적이 나오지 않아 팬들이 많이 걱정하셨던 것으로 안다. 나 또한 무척 당황했다. 하지만 이제는 그런 걱정 시키지 않도록 잘해야겠다는 생각이 든다.
Q 데뷔 이후 슬럼프에 빠진 적은 처음인 것 같은데.
A 너무 지다 보니 지는 것이 익숙해 지더라. 무척 힘들었는데 감독님과 코치님께서 마인드 컨트롤을 해주셔서 견딜 수 있었다. 오늘도 그 조언 덕에 이길 수 있었다.
Q 저그전에서 좋지 않았다.
A 원래 저그전을 굉장히 자신 있어 하는데 의도치 않게 패하면서 성적이 좋지 않았다. 그런데 위너스리그에서 나를 상대로 저그를 스나이핑으로 내보내는 것을 보면서 혼자 발끈해 차분히 경기를 풀어나가지 못했다. 그러다 보니 성적이 계속 좋지 않았고 실력도 점점 떨어졌다. 이제는 저그전에 자신감을 찾을 수 있을 것 같다.
Q 김재춘에게 유독 약했기 때문에 임진묵이 올라오길 바랐을 것 같은데.
A 사실 임진묵 선수가 올라오기를 바라긴 했다(웃음). 그런데 김재춘 선수가 올라오는 것을 보고 걱정은 됐지만 꼭 이겨야겠다는 생각을 했다.
Q 팀 성적이 같이 떨어지면서 마음 고생이 심했을 것 같다.
A 팀에서 에이스 역할을 하고 있었는데 이렇다 할 성적을 내지 못해 정말 당황했고 너무 힘들었다. 팀원들에게도 영향을 미쳤던 것 같아 미안한 마음도 든다.
Q 세 경기 모두 빌드가 같았는데.
A 심리적인 요인이 큰 것 같다. 상대 전적도 밀리고 최근 연패를 하다 보니 안정적인 빌드를 사용했고 김재춘 선수는 그 점을 노리고 12드론 앞마당 전략을 선택한 것 같다. 세경기 연속 그런 상황에 놓이니 신기하기도 했다.
Q 1세트는 성큰 러시를 시도했는데.
A 1세트는 성큰 러시를 갔는데 들키는 바람에 기분이 좋지 않았다. 하지만 오히려 그 부분에서 독기를 품었고 더욱 잘할 수 있었던 것 같다.
Q 16강 선수들이 쟁쟁하다.
A 잘하는 선수들과 붙게 되면 재미있다. 준비할 때도 즐겁기 때문에 더욱더 재미있는 16강이 될 것 같다.
Q 지난 시즌 같은 팀 동료인 진영화가 결승전에 올라갔다.
A 축하하는 마음도 있었지만 나도 그 자리에 올라가고 싶다는 자극을 받았다. 이번 스타리그에서는 더 좋은 성적을 거두겠다.
