ESL Open Cup #222: GuMiho, MaxPax, Dark win

TL.net ESPORTS 4 Posts April 09 2024 19:18 GMT #1 2022-23 ESL Pro Tour - Open Cups: Week #222 (April 8st) by Wax Week #222 gave us an even TPZ trinity of winners, with GuMiho winning in Korea, MaxPax triumphing in Europe, and Dark surviving the gauntlet in the Americas. The Korean server competition became even more competitive in Week #222, as Reynor touched down in Korea and joined the fray. The Gamers8 champion made it as far as the RO4 in his first outing, bowing out 0-2 to Dark in a ZvZ clash. The weekly title ended up going to GuMiho, who beat DRG (2-1), Creator (2-1), ByuN (2-1), and Dark (3-1) in an all-Code S series of tests. With Reynor out of the mix, the EU server cup gave us yet another clash between MaxPax and Clem in the finals—the 33rd in the history of the competition (including both NA and the EU servers). This time around, MaxPax came out with a 3-1 victory, making him 16-17 all-time against Clem in EPT cup finals. Clem tried to make up for his loss in the American server cup, but suffered the upset of the week as he lost 2-1 to NightMare in the quarterfinals. In turn, MaxPax took out NightMare 2-0 in the semifinals, only to be defeated 3-1 by Dark in the grand finals. Reynor also made an appearance in the American server cup, but was taken out by Astrea in the quarterfinals (Astrea was then defeated by Dark).
