Week #212 of the Open Cups served as a reminder about the strongest player who WON'T be competing at IEM Katowice, as MaxPax took an impressive weekly double in EU and NA.
The week's competition started off on the Korean server, where Solar went through Coffee, NightMare, Dark, and Cure to win the weekly title.
Next, the European server cup gave us the first leg of MaxPax's double, as he defeated rival Clem 3-1 in the finals. Both Clem and MaxPax gave it another go in the Americas Cup, which resulted in finals rematch between the two cup kings. This time, MaxPax took a 3-0 sweep, giving him a perfect, lossless victory.
Happy Maxday! (monday, or in danish mandag) The one day a week where there is a Protoss hope that you can actually root for without foolish wishful thinking.
If Protoss was actually relevant and the council didn't specifically try to nerf Maxpax, then he would consistantly be a top 3 player. (disregarding offline competition of course.)

How are they specifically nerfing MaxPax? :S
He’s clearly a talent but people sure do go overboard with the hype sometimes!
Proxy SB builds were kind of obnoxious though to be fair. DTs are still damn potent but got a little retune I thought was fine.
I do agree that Toss got overnerfed defensively, they feel especially fragile nowadays and are reliant on power units, one of which in the Disruptor is a very inconsistent and vulnerable unit but also got moderately nerfed.
The second batch aren’t good nerfs IMO, and Protoss still feels a little undertuned, but it’s hardly some anti-MaxPax shenanigans!

- Offensive batteries shouldn't really have existed in the first place because it's totally against what it's intended. Offensive SBs still can win against defensive ones with existing Nexus, even at half mana ... And if somebody still wants to do it, well do an offensive Nexus at the triangle or at the linear ?
- The Void Ray nerf was counterbalanced by how the queen can't transfuse anymore off creep. Queen walks vs Void Ray at 5-6 min was the main PvZ outcome until before IEM 2022 ...
- The DT not being able to instantly swipe doesn't sound a big deal. When they can Shadow Stride it's roughly equal to the cooldown if they were walking instead, but with the difference they can get past sim cities or cliffs. It's bad but not that bad.
- The Shield Battery overcharge nerf is the only one I find really hard to justify there.

I'm a Protoss fan, but that post is embarrassing.
MaxPax got significantly nerfed in PvP, because of the current Map pool. It makes 1 gate expand especially hard, as there are only like 1 or 2 maps with easy to defend naturals. It was probably done with other matchups in mind, but in PvP it pretty much only effects him
