WTL returns January 21st - 23rd with a 7 team playoff gauntlet.
I love that it's a relatively flat prize distribution. They should kick up the promotion a notch for the next season, and allow English broadcasters/casters. It'll draw in even more viewers I think. It presents another strategic layer that has been missing for far too long.

Foreign language casting has always been open, the WTL vs The World thing was the exception.

Altough, from the infographic: "Respect to BW legend - Ryung"…what?
It's a meme from CN community that the legend Chinese zerg F91 (who is also the founder of SCboy and WTL) had been killed 100+ drones in one match once play against 14 years old Maru xD.
I'm super happy to see the evolution of the WTL, since the end of the proleague, there was a hole in the esport of starcraft 2! The addition of cash prizes is a step forward, which I hope will make the scene sustainable in the long run. Otherwise, the playoffs are stacked, I'm very hype!

Wait I still don't understand how this has to do with Ryung...

I just want to state that I'm really glad to see a flatter distribution of prize money. I know it's sort of a minor topic to be discussed, but I think it's really important that leagues don't remain so top heavy (hi GSL). It basically gives exclusively the very top players a livable wage and no one else. Which of course kills the scene. A lot of players put a ton of time and effort into these matches, even if they lost, and I know a lot of tournaments don't even pay out to every player, which feels wrong to me. So thanks WTL

On the other hand, Asus ROG shows that many sponsors likely don't have the scene as a priority, but audience and ads being more important. 8 invites based on EPT points + top heavy prize distribution was very telling. WTL might be able to do it, but it is the exception more than the rule, and this until the game flames out.
