"Hey guys, it's been a while. I just wanted to let everyone know I'm going to do my military service. I wanted to end on a high note by finishing with a GSL title before I retire and go to the military. But I failed to keep the promise I made to the fans and let them down, and that has weighed me down a lot. After falling short in the GSL, I thought a lot about going to the military, asked around for advice, and I finally made up my mind. I’m sincerely sorry to all the fans for not living up to their expectations and support. However, if there is a new RTS, or still a Starcraft 2 scene, I promise I’ll return. I’ll always be grateful for the love and support I got from being a professional Starcraft 2 player and try to keep my chin up in the military. Nothing’s confirmed, but I’m hoping to go between January and March. Until I ACTUALLY go, I want to use the time I have left in a meaningful way by streaming on Twitch and communicating with the fans, having fun and leaving all stress behind"
Shocked he'd voluntarily leave before Katowice. He got top 4 last year which would be $40k with the regular prize structure. While he got a rather fortunate bracket last year and that probably wouldn't happen again even just a top 8 or top 12 would be a lot of money.
This tweet showed that PartinG still puts an unreasonable amount of pressure on himself. He doesn't owe us fans anything. We are only hopeful, not expectful. He has repeatedly said that he felt stressed by professional competition, that he had the weight of expectation on his mind. His promise to his fans is not a commitment to us, only to himself.
This is kinda expected considering how Parting has dissapeared in large tournament since Code S S3. Now I kinda feel bad for Protoss in the coming IEM, unless Classic and Hero can get enough EPT points to make it.

Let hope herO win ST so that Trap does not feel alone when coming to the stage next year.
Aw. Poor Parting, pressure is one hell of a thing. But good on him. He also said he's been going to a clinic, so he's looking after himself. Best of luck to him, he'll always be a sc2 legend. Goodbye, bigboy!
Very strange decision to start military service now. Current EPT system has just one year left, and after that there might be no big SC2 esports anymore, and IEM Katowice on it's way. Is he forced to go right now? I mean, he isn't the oldest player (Rogue and Trap are older, not to mention Zest who somehow still postpones his service), can't he postpone it a little more?
He has a good case for being the best Protoss the game of SC2 has ever had. I hope he returns when his tour is done. The game needs him not just for his skill but for his big personality.
