It's like GSL tradition that in order to have a good finals we have to sacrifice the Ro4 and possibly the Ro8.
It's also tradition that if the Ro8 and Ro4 are good, the finals will suffer, see last season as a perfect example.
This tournament has been awesome up the Ro8. Ro16 Groups C and D were absolutely INCREDIBLE and Group B was really good too.
What I'm getting at is that as things look now barring some extreme upset we're going to have a Maru/TY final and the last time these two met it was one for the ages only the TvT meta is a lot more fun now than it was then. We won't have mass Raven late games like we did before, although we will definitely see Ravens still.
Maru vs TY is as even a match as you can get in the pro scene. Their winrates against each other in premier matches is an even 50%, but Maru DID win the GSL title the one time they competed for it.
I'm really looking forward to that, and I'm obviously cheering for that coveted G5L trophy. Maru just has play solid and not do the kinds of stupid stuff that Zest did and he should crush Armani. Hopefully Zest getting bopped should wake him up and make him go into that match ready to kill a nerd.

Armani is basically the closest thing to a royal roader you can get these days, I wish him the best of luck. He's going to need it.

Also Wax. Cure TvZ riddle: Cure got absolutely shellacked by Armani and DongRaeGu in GSL Code S, but then went on to eliminate Reynor and Serral from King of Battles.
The answer to this is obvious. Cure played against Reynor and Serral online, and Armani and DRG offline. Cure's powers cannot be fully awakened offline. He's made some progress this year, but he's still not there yet.
For whatever reason he's just that much stronger of a player online. Hell he even made his TvT match with Maru competitive AND he knocked out TY in TvT.
If Cure can somehow learn to channel his online power into the GSL he'd legitimately be fighting for that top Terran in the world title.

It's impossible to not see a Maru win, can't wait to be proved wrong!

I can see Armani upsetting Maru in a 2-1 fashion in a group stage or in a online tournament..... but in a BO7? in a GSL semifinal??? No way right? Like.... the only option for Armani is if Maru's shoulders is so swollen that he is force to play with the nipple red mouse of the keyboard.

Armani can probably take a game, but Maru is destined to lose to TY in the grand finals.

4-0, such a disrespectful prediction

I want to watch Maru splat Armani's bugs.
I think Armani is a RO16 player who made it through to the round of 8 and played against a terrible Zest. I wouldn't be surprised if Zest didn't practice at all for their match.
If Maru goes anything worse than 4-1 I'd be impressed.

TY will finally beat maru

ARMANI 4 - 3 MARU
In a 4 hour Bo7 Series, enjoy watching.

The difference in the sizes of the players in the header should tell you all you need to know about how this match is going to go.

Armani is getting 9-1 odds online. Might be worth sprinkling a little on him.

I hope Armani wins just to see all the sc2 burning.
Excellent preview as always.

It’s rare to see a semifinal this lopsided

Rooting for Armani. Always great to see someone new reaching the semifinals in tournaments.

+ Show Spoiler +Maru made it look easy in the last game. His CC first really caught Armani off.
