Hopefully this doesn't affect SC2 but it probably will since the article states the following:
The brand we’ve come to know as Splyce will cease to exist according to a report out of Dexerto. Richard Lewis published a piece revealing the brands parent company OverActive Media has made the decision to shut down the brand “as part of restructuring.”
According to the report employees affected by the decision were told they could stick around until the official shutdown in December or leave the company now with a severance package.
“The majority of the staff took the payouts so a lot of people left Splyce yesterday,” one source told Lewis.
In CS:GO and LoL, the buyout terms and contracts being signed are ridiculously unsustainable. Sometimes teams will request hundreds of thousands or even a couple million. Then we have players forcing their way out of teams (coldzera and MIBR for example) and it just goes to show how esports is not doing as well as we think it is.

May a mod edit the title. I meant to say CS:GO and not LoL.

At least in LoL they're going to use their Mad Lions brand that they also own, so its possible they'll just shift the SC2 players over as well?

that's what happens when the gm and head coach aren't on the same page

that's SUCH a terrible analogy
Why do you even need an analogy here? It's already pretty simple: New ownership decided only one of Splyce's existing assets had value (the LEC spot)

It would not be a surprise for me if they will drop TY and Stats as a part of this process. Both have not been doing so well this year. Stats and TY will be picked up by other organizations anyway. So I wouldn't worry too much.

Well with a bit of luck, they will just forget we even exist, a few thousand can't be much next to a CSGO/LOL team salary

If Splyce drops TY and Stats i could maybe see TY retiring and switching to a full-time caster role for Afreeca. Might even cast both GSL & ASL.

Why though? He is still in the running for Blizzcon, 10th place in Korean Circuit in WCS points. Not to mention his top 8 finish in GSL S3. Seems good enough to keep competing as a player, even without a team.

A lot of players were stuck as free agents until after the WCS announcement if I remember correctly. Also, throughout the year, Blizzard cut a lot of staff related to esports and WCS. A lot of players don't have these big name teams either, but instead individual sponsorship. There's no new blood either in the scene.
Without WCS or GSL, would companies still want to sponsor players to play the game?

This sucks, skillwise I don't see Stats or TY retiring even if they get dropped but of course Stats has his military service to consider and TY has the casting job at Afreeca.
Let's hope for the best though.

If Splyce really disbands,I think DPG should seize the opportunity to sign the two legendary players.
