If the WCG organizers are reading this forum, your event this year for SC2 viewers was a big mess in terms of promoting this event to SC2 viewers. I don't understand how you can have such a big prize pool ($50K for 4 players), how you got top players like Maru, Reynor, and Neeb to play, and how you paid for Tastosis to come over (it's not cheap to hire Tastosis), but then you do everything poorly to get the foreign community to watch SC2 at WCG. Here are some suggestions on how you can improve your event for SC2 viewers:
1) Please post the time of the SC2 event to the Teamliquid calendar as far in advance as you can. Your event was not on the Teamliquid calendar and nobody knew of your event until today.
2) Please post the event to the Tourneys forum with details of the time of the event and the tournament brackets, so people know the details of the event. I had to create a thread asking about WCG about 12 hours before the games were played because there was no information about it.
3) Please do not switch streams during the event. SC2 was originally streamed on https://www.twitch.tv/wcg_tz3 in the SC2 channel on Twitch. This is fine. But right now, the stream has switched to https://www.twitch.tv/wcg_gamesports on the Crossfire channel. Switching streams is bad enough, but switching streams to a stream in the Crossfire channel is really bad!
I would suggest that even if you decide to show SC2 on the Crossfire stream, that you also show SC2 on the SC2 stream too (https://www.twitch.tv/wcg_tz3 ).
4) Make sure your event is entered into Liquipedia with the time of the event and the bracket of the event, and that you continually update your event.
-----------------------------
I am flabbergasted that WCG spent so much money on the prize pool, got some of the best players to come and play, and hired the best English casters possible for SC2 (which I assume means WCG wants foreign viewers to watch this event), but did so poorly to promote this event to the foreign SC2 viewer community. I just hope that you can fix it for this event and fix it if you do WCG next year. This is a great event, the stream seems to be smooth, but the promotion of this event was done so poorly.

I personally don't think they have a PR team to promote this abroad.

Which is really weird. Because they hired Tastosis and paid for the plane tickets + hotel for them too. That wasn't cheap. If they hired Tastosis, then they intended for foreign viewers to watch this event.

Man I really want WCG to be good again, why can’t they get it fully together?

At most they had a schedule which you were able to follow, but you still have to wait a long while since you had to wait for other games to finish first. It's viewer friendly if you like multiple games, in this case say Dota2, Warcraft3 and SC2.
Best you can currently do is to go to https://www.twitch.tv/team/wcg and check through all streams.

They also have B2Warcraft and Tod and Rotterdam for WC3, that's basically the best commentary you can get for that game also

Hey hey hey,why do you think the organziers want to promote this event to SC2 fans?lol Almost all Chinese fans don't think so.We call this event TXCG instead of WCG.

WCG had been TencentCG 6 years before. Even WESG do better than WCG.
|
Maybe imma just wait till it's over and then file through the vods.
Haven't watched WC3 in ages but with Tod and Rotti casting I will most likely give me some :D

I believe that only Shanghai could hold a decent (or even good) esport tournament. The quality of WESG is "acceptable" and that's probably the maximun level that inland Chinese cities can have for now.

this was a launder right? why bother getting tastosis, who are really expensive but literally are worthless to Korean and Chinese audiences? the players is one thing, but tastosis are so expensive. the organizers literally didn't care about recouping any money from foreign interest.

It's in Xi'an.

Typical Chinese events just like WESG or whatever. Big prize pool, bad production, average game quality. Just basically an event you can come and grab some money. Noone is gonna remember these events 1 week later.

Really pathetic in this day..

WCG is badly organised as always. Also it does not mean anything anymore. In the beginning it was still considered as an important tourney, but now this is just nice to get some Warcraft 3.
|
Real question is, how much does it cost to hire Tastosis? And will they do a bat mitzvah??

These tournaments always feel like money laundering schemes

They're only showing the schedule for 6 games, and SC2 is not shown.
Clash Royale and WC3 more important than SC2
