eSports spawned from dedicated hobbyists competing for the love and the prestige and the challenge For maybe some of the older amongst us, that’s absolutely fine, eSports being a viable career is a cherry to put on top of a great game, can still have a great scene on a semi-pro or amateur basis too. I’d love to see a revitalised WC3 tournament scene for sure, as a player who isn’t super good I’m as excited on potentially having a wider and deeper player base again too.

Night Elves didn't win a single Major in 2019(even if they were still broken when TH000 beat Moon) and are not monopolizing the final stages of the tournaments the way they were doing before. KOTG probably needs to be looked at again but you can actually beat NE with decent ratios atm(Orc are still struggling, UD's mu is skill based and HU, especially chinese ones, seem to be faring pretty well against NE).

There are players from China, South Korea and CIS region who are pro players. Semi-pros from other countries like Germany, France, Sweden. The Scene is pretty big and VERY active for a 17 year old game.. Check out the Back2Warcraft channel @ YouTube. They have tons of videos from tournaments big and small. Highly recommended.

I agree with You about the money issue. as for tournaments - The Tournament scene is revitalized :D there is a tournament literally almost every day. Big and small. Showmatches and LANs are coming back. Even TakeTV is going to organize a LAN tournament in the same location as his famous HSC. It's going to be called The Iron Couch and ToD is going to help with organization. Warcraft III is very much alive and doing very well. Especially in China and Europe.

KotG + Alche combo is ridiculously strong, especially after hitting lvl 6 (basically unwinable if you don't have a massive advantage as a player playing against this combo). And MGs are still ridiculously tanky. And NE t1 is just a joke, tbh.. They can play it the whole game and win. So if You want to win vs NE, you better make it quick. It's not as imbalanced as in 2nd half of 2018, but it's still pretty imbalanced vs orc (at least).

Iron Couch is gonna be sick, I’d love to see Grubby come do some casting. Him and ToD are up there with my favourite SC2 casters, and both you can tell have more passion for the WC3 game, despite both obviously not hating SC2 I’m pretty excited really, WC3 was probably the game I played and enjoyed the most ever, but it was in an era of syncing replays to audio files if you wanted to improve, or discussing the game in forums, streaming hadn’t matured etc so I never really made the jump to playing it seriously 1v1. I’ve picked up more about playing it well in a few weeks of hardcore stream watching the likes of Grubby, ToD, Happy and Back2Warcraft than I was really able to do over the entire time I played over a decade ago. I’m pretty hopeful, the community needs to do the groundwork to keep new players around, and I think it’s looking promising. Guys like Grubby who have a popular platform across different games are getting eyes on the game, and he’s done some really good tutorials for people who are new to RTS completely. There will probably be a bunch of people who know Warcraft primarily through WoW and might check out the game for the lore and stuff who might stick around too. I’ve had some success getting some of my SC2 buddies on board, we have a really small but really tight scene over here and we all know each other from our yearly amateur LAN. Guys who are just burnt out on SC2 completely or aren’t but do want another competitive RTS experience. A bunch of us tried Brood War with Remastered, we all love that game but it’s so incredibly hard to get to a standard you can even really ladder at all vs vets. Warcraft 3 is more exciting to them because it is actually a very different game in how the strategy works and is less mechanically taxing than the Starcraft games, there’s more room to breathe and think and you have more space to engage in big micro battles.

I’m sure at least some new players can get used to it, or might even enjoy that system, if it was changed the WC3 vets wouldn’t move over to Reforged. It’s not all that restrictive as unit numbers are a lot lower than in Brood War, which absolutely is a fight against the UI that I am not good at, but I love the game and watching the pros so was happy they kept the game the same.

Even tho it isnt perfect its far better balanced then wc3. Night Elves aren't that broken anymore. Activision-Blizzard will surely sponsor new tournaments after Reforged's release. Which race is StarBuck playing? Rail/Verdi is Human according to Liquipedia. I hear much different opinions of my friends who play at very high level. Many of them complaining to elves. Top 20 on EU server is elf populated. Starbuck is mostly random, sometimes he main UD or HU. Verdi was HU earlier, yes. The patch before this one was infested by NE at every stages. They are still strong at the moment but they aren't dominating as much looking at the latest tournaments. Well, I am not following scene much for past 4,5 months but when i played I know so many players switched and played kotg+alchemist combo which was sick. I m glad if things changed but I see many WCG competitors on EU event complaining about elf again. I mean if Grubby is complaining there’s probably a problem. Not because he’s always right but he’s mr positive and focus on improving. He plays a different race each stream night, on his Nelf night he has swapped to going Warden in all non-mirrors on a few days, because he felt Keeper is too good/boring and wanted to mix it up. So yeah I think it’s safe to say Nelf is probably a bit strong, although I believe a patch is coming soon To be honest he had insane win rate with elf. Its not only KOTG broken, giants taking 6 food, double taunt, chimaeras without AoWing, etc. ToD complain often and [plays only human. He is natural whiner but he had point, obviioulsy, as long as wc3 Blizzard officials responded to his tweets couple of times. Five months ago NE were indeed broken; ToD always complains about Human being weak but they were actually the only ones to steal tournament wins in that patch. sounds like terran to me.but human also looks like they are the most advanced race in wow ,almost like protoss thanks to gandalf and dem hobbits
