Group nominations is the best nonsense of every season. This is the only time the guys bring their personality! Was really hoping that MC gets through just to bring the trash talk and nonsense but that roast by Rogue was so savage and utterly satisfying to watch.
What I don't get is why Maru didn't bring Cure to his group if he really wanted Cure to advance. Going by expected results, if Maru gets out first with Cure getting out second, Cure is doomed in the ro8 anyway.. Cure could have just ditched practicing TvT if he was in Group A and focused on smashing Patience and Impact.
edit: also, they got rid of the MVP voting that made zero sense anyway?

This is something i also try to not miss even if i can't see all the games. It's funny and stupid but... Every time people told me about "faceless koreans" i'd show them this and tell them : "Let's see what they can do in a language their own language".

Thanks for the write up. Hope they never stop doing group selections like this.

Wtf is that, Rogue has been getting stomped by Inno. Didn't know it looked like that, would never have guessed, makes the matchup even more hyped =D

I would go even further saying Maru has not only set up a really nice group for himself, and one for his teammate Cure too, additionally he has a group of death for the one player he fears most: TY.

Pretty sure he's more scared of Rogue and/or sOs than TY. But all three of them are in for a rough trip, so Maru's probably satisfied regardless.

He confidently stomped Rogue in Super Tournament just before BlizzCon iirc, while he really struggled against TY in the finals. Has TvT or TvZ changed that much for him to be more scared of Rogue than TY?
About sOs yeah probably, rough losses

Love this article, thanks.

Maru said several times last year that TY is the only player who worries him.

Practising becomes a problem and so on

Always love your article Wax Thanks

That Rogue vs INno banter was really funny tbh

Good article. But I really think the rules of this process need to be tweaked a bit. Why are top ranked players given further advantages to hand pick their easiest opponents? The phrase Maru holding court really is appropriate. As a viewer I would prefer Maru or any first ranked player being challenged before the semifinals.

ROZLCOPTER maru make a wish foundation too good

It creates too big of an advantage not to mention the confusion. Although it also creates funny situations and interactions between players so I can see why they keep it.

Not having Dear and Bunny fighting over Maru/Cure's love would indeed make this so much less fun
