Interesting to see all the Terrans go through though, considering the foreign Terrans seem to have a lot of problems with Protoss.

Still Gumi and Cure over Stats, and Bunny over Solar are at least a bit surprising to me. All three terrans have always had the potential, but i did not expect all three of them to go to the Ro16.

Other than Solar, we haven't seen any Zerg players who you'd expect to make the ro16 fail to. Zerg in Korea has been Rogue, Dark, soO, Solar, and a lot of inconsistent players for awhile, but before you feel too bad, Zerg players hold the 4 longest active Code S streaks and 5 of the top 6.

Not a single Code S champion in LoTV with only Rogue and Serral winning a GSL title; very little red these last years! Still six Zerg to go this season but I would expect other Rogue, soO and at least another one to get to ro16.

He's the guy who learns the already established strategies and plays them the best. It's not surprising he's out in the beginning. He'll be back with a vengeance when the meta is more established. For that same reason, as well as Terran's relative strength, Gumiho is a serious contender this season.

Stats has reached the semifinals in a premiere tournament IMMEDIATELY AFTER every design patch or expansion since 2015.

Woah, I've attracted the counter fact checking of Wax himself. Great honor, that. Don't get me wrong, Stats is my favorite Protoss. I've been singing his praises for a long time. Incredibly consistent. With 19 semifinals appearances in the last 3 years, many of which placed higher than 3rd/4th, I argue coincidence. All I can really say is I wasn't surprised.

Cure and Bunny absolutely look like typical weaker Terrans who definitely aren't ro8 material, but Gumiho over Stats isnt surprising really. Gumi is a ro8 or better player, you cant be surprised if he advances easily. He didnt even get to play stats though.

So Stats' long streak of doing well on new patches is considered a coincidence but when he doesn't do well once in over 3 years it's proof of him not being an innovator and struggling to adapt.
