Along with the new information that as many units are going to be taken out as added in, what does this mean for the Hydralisk?
I think certainly nothing is sacred here because Goons were in a cinematic and are used plenty and the decision to remove them certainly was made. But IMO the Hydralisk is much more iconic than the Zergling - but we have not seen any hints that they wil be returning. Anyone have any information to the contrary?
EDIT: Note that we know for sure something is going to be removed given that Zerglings now have an evolution ...

Actually the Hydralisk is 2 units with the Lurker. Tough choice.

Nothing is more iconic then the Zergling, that's the unit that caused the verb "To Zerg" to become so widespread

Blasphemy.
Look at the SC game cover. Look at all the leagues and symbols. It's almost always Zeal, Marine, Hydra.

the hydralisk shows up in the new artwork and has always been an integral part of the zerg hive, I wouldn't worry about them ever disappearing
also it's completely useless to start wondering now which units they are going to replace
|
The goon was a very limited unit in that it had relatively low damage output for its price, but was necessary since it served a few specialized roles that no other protoss units did, especially since leg upgrades came so late in the tech tree.
The hydra is actually used in a lot of different situations

Hydra, Zergling, and Ultra are in the load screen of the hi res movies from ign. Fairly sure we're safe with those.

maybe they will add a new strain of hydras to morph into
and maybe remove that caca unit, the queen. no more need for infesting ccs.

There are alot of units iconic - zergling - hydralisk - mutalisk - marine - vulture - tank - zealot - dragoon - high templar You could probably list even more! I wonder which will be taken out ..
Btw I love the new banelings :D

Dragoon was the weakest important unit for toss so they took it out and replaced it
hydras are no weakness for zerg and not to powerful
|
The Hydra is the only allround unit for the zerg, so unless they introduce a similar (ranged / anti-air) unit they can't take it out.

It wasn't taken out for its weakness, they could just have buffed it. They took it out because it lacked a clearly defined role.

i just hope they keep most of the original game, dont take out unecessary things
|
They seem to have ripped out atleast half of the Protoss race so don't keep your hopes up.

I dont think that vult is that iconic.
A guy one a hover bike who throws grenades? come on.
The carrier is more iconic than the vult even.

I think we are saying good bye to both the Vulture and the Carrier, I hope the Goliath is still in though, love that mech.

I think the most important units in SC are
Zealots Archons Arbiter Carriers Lings Hydras Ultras Lurkers Siegetanks I want to say marines but every other game has a gunman Ghosts

vulture is only iconic in the sense of competitive sc. Noobs, like real noobs, 3v3 zc don't use vulture. And maybe thats who they are appeasing too.

Iconic is about style, not use.

There is a drawing of a hydralisk, or a hydralisk-type thing, in the artwork section of sc2.com. So, I don't think we've seen the last of them.
