When they said that there would be the same number of units, anyone think that they might convert 2 existing units into one - e.g. as an upgrade, and therefore all the units currently around will still be around?
I wonder if you can have a stage 1 defiler --> current defiler; upgrade defiler --> a queen that can have some combo of queen abilities + defiler abilities :D
Although if they are removing units, my guess will be: P (scout - seeing as they seem to be putting in a lot of air, or DA) T (Valk) Z (queen) because they are the most underused ones and their purpose can probably be combined or put into another unit.

I can't make new threads yet, so I'm gonna go slightly off-topic and hijack this one with a bit of theorycrafting about the SC2 expansion.
It seems that Blizzard seem pretty adamant that the number of units will be the same as in BW. So, assuming it "just works" when it comes out, will we maybe not even see a paid-expansion? I can see the merits to it - they are making SC2 alot with competition in mind. Leaving out an expansion ensures that the community never becomes divided and alleviates the risk of putting out a "bad xp".
Maybe they'll do a single player XP or something, and release a free multiplayer xp with just maps and things.

Alot of people are predicting that carriers will be taken out, but I disagree. Warp ray + phoenix + mothership is definitely not enough air for the "air superiority" race that the manual brags about. What will Protoss use as their feared air unit? 1 Mothership? I don't think so. Carriers are probably going to stay in, unless they are replaced by another type of air unit that serves a similar purpose.
People have also been asking about stalkers being able to teleport across uneven terrain... I think they'll be able to teleport down, but not up. Here's why: since they can only teleport as far as they can see, it implies that if they can't see up a cliff (even if another unit can see it), then they probably won't be able to do it. However we have already seen that they are able to teleport down a cliff, which makes sense. I have a feeling they will be able to teleport over water as well as long as they can see over it.
One thing that I want to add is that Blizzard made a statement about making the races even more distinct this time around in SCII... so the phase prism is a pretty cool addition, as it looks like it's going to double as both an air transport unit and a mobile pylon. I bet the terran dropship will only drop units, and the overlord will either stay the same or have a new ability. This way, the races are more distinct than before already... not to mention the fact that you can warp units onto the battlefield as well. I bet all troops are deployed out of pylons and phase prisms now as a collective whole, meaning if I build zealots on an island I can warp them out of any pylon or phase prism on the map. That would be sick. Maybe there will be an option to rally the units to be warped in a certain location on the map that is in range of a pylon or phase prism so they don't get stuck undeployed after they are built. This feature would really highlight the protoss warping technology that was bragged about in the game manual.
Also, along with everyone else, I'd like to say that there is nothing to worry about with micro =) I'm sure Blizzard knows what they're doing.

The phase prism thing + rally point could make for some SICK frontlines in PvT I'd imagine.
Here's a screenshot of stalkers blinking up a cliff btw:
All those warp boxes look like the logo of... hm some console, nintendo? Can't place it =]

Colossus seems to be a pretty weak unit. yeah it kills lings/rines fast, but it looks like it has quite a few weaknesses. Lingbombs, aerial attacks, missle turrents. The fact that it is treated as a ground and air unit for attack purposes is a big loss to its base raiding abilities. for example. try to take on the terrans and you have all the turrents and bunkers on it.

Which follows the idea that the Colossus is replacing the slow, splash-damaging Reavers.
