Its possible that the Colossus is an air unit, or will be treated like an air unit. I have 2 facts to back this up.
a) http://www.starcraft2.com/screenshot.xml?10 - Missle Turrets are clearly firing at them. So unless Missle Turrets fire at everything this makes them an air unit.
b) In one of the gameplay trailer's (I forgot which one), the Colossus does NOT affect the Zealots' pathfinding, as you can see Zealots walk under it.

Ground units like Zerglings can attack the Colossus when they cant other air units.

It's an entirely new concept, most likely. Not ground, not air, large walker. It indeed doesn't affect zealot pathfinding and attracts missile fire (which is logical since it's 12323 meters tall) but, as shown in the video, is affected by ground-based kamikaze lings.
Start thinking outside of the box, this is not SC, it's SC2, therefore, ground and air are not the only options.

i noticed that too, its been posted some other times..
its either that turrets hit ground now, or that colossus are considered "air"
but those Banelings took out a colossus, that would have to mean that splash affects air?

XG3 posted that it's so tall turrets can fire at it, too lazy to find the post :D

I dont think they are considered air. They are just tall enough for the Turrets to make it a target. The Banelings can attack them. I think the Zealots walking under the Colossus like that is because the legs are so thin and they'd be pretty spread out.
|
I think they are considerd both. Which is pretty awsome because you can choose to either counter it with anti-air or anti-ground.
Edit: SCOURGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I noticed what you say... but let's say that in sc2 turrets cant attack very tall ground units (like colossus) wich make sense cuz the top of the colossus seems to be at almost the same height as air units. Now it would be interesting to see if an air units with air attacks only is able to hit the colossus.
Also, they doesn't affect zealot path cuz they have those thin long robotic legs... so let's say they manage to avoid zealots when they're walking. This is their main particularity, the terrain does not affect them...(I'm talking about path finding)
but again... this is only an opinion of myself.....

Haha not ground not air is a very cool concept. In original SC the most we got out of that is perhapes archon vulture scv probe drone who do not attract mine. But in SC2 the jetpack(reapers) and collosus really adds another dimention to the game.
I wish those jetpack dudes can activate their jetpacks at ANYTIME with a hotkey stroke, like "w" or "t" or soemthing like that, so when you use them to fight zealots, they can attack and jump back and attack again, you can also use them to attract mines, touch the ground then jumping out to make the miens follow :D
You can even dodge reavers scarabs! :D

yeah the most awesome part of the colossus is that units can run right underneath them, so i'm thinking maybe it is considered as both also
look how tall it is, corsairs should be able to attack them

they are ground units tall enough to be attacked by both air attack(ground to air, air to air) and ground attacks.
Wasnt this mentioned in the gameplay trailer?

Colossus seems to be vulerable to attack by both ground and air units since it is so tall... Meaning its going to be a badass ground unit killing machine yet vulnerable to many forms of attack. Pretty cool concept if you ask me! Ground units can also pass underneath making it easier to bring the attack in small corridors gj Blizz Looking forward to seeing terran and zerg concepts next!

I have one concern though, if the Colossus is indeed a Ground/Air unit hybrid, how will units that have different attacks for ground and air (Like Goliaths, Wraiths, etc) react to the Colossus? How will they choose which attack to use?

you say it my friend...the more often I watch this fucking trailer, the more I get hyped....dunno...I should at least remove my zealot desktop, it distracts me from work.....but NO I won't do that! =)
