EPTtoday I bring you an interview with Dmytro “DIMAGA” Filipchuk,
an Ukrainian StarCraft 2 - Player that many of us probably know very well.
Dimaga has been around since Broodwar-Days and the SC2-Beta.
He saw many Highs and some Lows and is well known for his dynamic and sometimes aggressive playstyle as Zerg.
For some time now he is back to SC2.
I wanted to catch up a bit and find out what he is up to these days!
Hello Dmytro, thank you for doing this and a very warm welcome!
1. For a brief period of time in 2015 / 2016 you were taking a break from StarCraft 2.
In the beginning of 2017 you (re)joined the Team Cascade.
Is “StarCraft 2” at the moment your full time job?
Yeah it was at the time of Heart of the Swarm, I decide to take a break and start playing Heroes of the Storm a lot :D
A little bit later from fun games I decided to try a little bit serious HotS and it was not that bad, but long story short, all teams that I was in was disbanded, always someone left it and at the end i decided that's enough for me and in few weeks LotV came out so i started to play StarCraft 2 again
I was in cSc last couple of months but actually early June they kick me and few other guys due to reshuffling, so right now I m teamless.
StarCraft 2 still my full time job but my level nowadays not that high to compete on top level tournaments, so I mostly streaming all my ladder sessions and some fun games with viewers and 2v2 with BRAT_OK or some PUBG but I don't have that many time lately because 17th of may i become father of two boys \m/
2. For some time you played in Heroes of the Storm (together with White-Ra and others).
Do you still play it sometimes?
Yeah as I said I was playing it a lot probably near 5 or 6 months, but I never played it again after lotv came out ^__^
3. You are one of the few players that I know, that also played a lot of 2v2 (mainly with Brat-OK).
What do you like about 2v2 most?
It was really refreshing after 1v1 to play 2v2, it has a lot of new strategies and synergies,but right now we have quite big experience in 2v2 and it become a bit predictable and also the most annoying stuff that is mech terran + air protoss is overpowered in team games and very hard to deal with it.
But nevertheless we still love to play some fun and crazy strategies like mass ghost + swarmhosts or 1 base broodlords and a lot of more crazy stuff but of course on some lower MMR accounts

4. You have been playing StarCraft 2 since the Beta.
What do you still love about the game?
Always trying to be better and better, but there is no perfection in this game you always could do something better.
Compete spirit, dealing with stressful situation, micro, macro, mind games - I love everything and there is a lot more in StarCraft 2 that I didn't count!
5. At this point in time (July/August 2017)
do you feel there should be some changes in the game or is it ok like it is?
I m not that good enough to talk about changes but overall everything seems pretty ok, maybe only in even late game PvZ protoss is too well rounded but it's hard to fix.
My only suggestion would be to nerf feedback of high templar a little bit: drain all energy and deal no health damage, so they still can paralyze infestors/vipers in the battle but not kill them, so it would be a little bit more safer for zerg in late game to micro all this expensive units that is very important.
Right now you can lost all this expensive units to 50 energy spell, feels too risky to even trying go to attack.
6. You started out a long time ago with Broodwar.
Will you take a look at Broodwar:Remastered? What do you think of it?
Yeah for sure! I will try it and of course will stream it, but I'm total noob in broodwar I didn't play it since StarCraft 2 Beta came out.
Hope it will be fun to watch me struggling in BW:R for viewers :D

7. Recently, you became a father of two boys - how are they and how is it for you, being a father?
Yeah, thanks to God everything is fine, We got huge support from my and my wife`s mothers, so me as a Father mostly streaming :D
But when it's my turn to sit few days in a row it feels pretty tough, especially when you have no time to sleep at all, but lately it become a little bit better, because they start sleeping more at night, near 4 hours.
But HEY! when you see they smiling and giggling it's just amazing feelings!!!

8. Do you still have time to work out?
No, but probably it's just me being lazy ^____^
9. You are born in Ukraine - Do you live there at the moment?
Yes, living in the same city as before.
10. Some of the most memorable moments of you career as SC2-Player are already some years ago. I imagine you get frustrated sometimes about your situation, for example not qualifying for WCS-Events and such. How do you deal with the frustration and the setbacks?
Yes, it can be really tough periods but you can't fix what is already done, so you just accept it and move forward!
Now some lighter stuff
11. Do you follow any other sport outside of gaming?
A little bit of boxing and MMA, very rarely watch any kind of sport on TV.
Overall i'm not following any kind of sport close enough.

13. Some years ago Carmac successfully told people that he was you - did you ever try to be Carmac?
Once, and it was failure :D
Long story short: Carmac did online interview so he shows only his eyes and pretended as DIMAGA.
I actually didn't see this interview, so when I got interviewed the day after, Carmac was trying to explain to me that I should show only my eyes on Skype and pretend to be Carmac, but we had not enough time so I misunderstand what he wants from me, and of course I show my face and started to pretend that I am Carmac.
It was total failure from me so no I never pretend as Carmac after that :D
