We'll announce the acquisition of a new SC2 star on Sunday, after the WCS final.
Scarlett @AcerScarlett 24 Aug
Unfortunately our new @AcerEsport player was knocked out before the round of 8~ So he will be announced tonight at 8 CEST instead !
Scarlett @AcerScarlett 23h
After my break when I start practising with the new @AcerEsport player, I won't be losing ZvTs anymore
Team Acer @aceresport 24 Aug
For reasons beyond our control we can't announce our new star until Sept 1st. Details:... http://fb.me/6r2SzExW2
The player in question is still under contract with his old team until the end of August, a fact that was not entirely certain until today, so he will officially join Team Acer on the 1st of September. The team requested that we announce matters in this order, waiting until the official end of his contract before making public that he is joining our team. We had tried to contact his team over the matter for a number of weeks, but matters did not become entirely clear from their end until today.
A photograph of our new player with MMA, Scarlett and inuh.
I still wait for the time Huk will return to Liquid ^^ . On topic: they need a toss, don`t think it will be Stardust, since his team just got stronger with the acquisition of Jjakji,,, so probably some korean toss.. don`t think it will be a big name.. but who knows.
Our new SC2 player will be simplhy uNstoppable. We hope he isn't underwelmuing, but explodes, leaving the other stars like dust.
HyuN? Welmu? Stardust? :D
Ima say either Welmu or Stardust. Unless this is a curveball
Why Stardust? I can see how a team like Acer has more resources than miY, but he seems to be the star there along with jjakjji and quite content with where he is at.

Hey, he's a free agent. Maybe missing the game?
Acer is really family like as a team and I don't think IdrA fits with Nerchio.
People didn't think HuK would fit with IdrA either. Or Stephano.
EG pays big bucks for people to get along. Not the same at Acer. Yes, they do have a lot of money but the team is run differently when it comes to marketing, etc.
I would expect someone from Azubu, but you never know. Maybe Acer. Idra (i doubt it lol) It would be smart of them to add a terran or protoss, they are zerg heavy. But it is good to see acer adding another player they have become quite a strong team.
I'd see Welmu. Hyun I Don't think that quantic would let him go. And no reason for Stardust to leave mYi. And Acer had another finn, Elfi earlier, so they know the accent :D
The tweet makes me think SuperNoVa, a Supernova is pretty damn unstoppable, it's generally not an underwhelming event and it can destroy nearby stars leaving them in dust.

Figuratively too. People are like "meh is supernova even decent anymore?" and then he beats fan-favorites. And then he goes back to being not very good. And then the cycle repeats itself.

Well, he kinda went 3-2 against Rain and First (who are pretty darn good in PvT and First only really loses to Bomber) and have beaten Soulkey in TvZ (i do not know if i should count this as serious achievement though).
another announcement of an announcement.. gehehehehe. Ive seen plenty of people mentioning madbull... god I hope its true, the guy certainly needs to stay in the scene^^
When is the Kespa-ESF player lock ending? Might be someone really unexpected. What I do know is it will be a big pickup, otherwise they wouldn't announce it the way they did.

Yeah a team would never make an announcement of an announcement unless it was for some big player oh wait, Karont3 did this when they signed a silver league caster. It's most likely a legit (Korean) player but saying that it has to be someone big is stupid~

We've brought our schedule forward and we'll announce our new StarCraft2 player tonight at 8pm CEST!
They fear the leaks, that's cute.
Btw is it me or did you change your sign from mouz to Acer ?
You are correct, Acer was always my second favourtite team, but after ATC I decided to roll with Acer for now. Still love mouz .
Another update btw:
Scarlett @AcerScarlett 1m
Unfortunately our new @AcerEsport player was knocked out before the round of 8~ So he will be announced tonight at 8 CEST instead !
Well, in that case it definitely Naniwa, Grubby, or Welmu.
And my money's on Grubby, who's the only player who is actually teamless.
Naniwa advanced to the ro8, so it's not him. MC maybe if SK is moving away from sc2, and MC could use the teamhouse in bad tölz just as MMA to play WCS EU. But I actually think it might be Duckdeok. Grubby would be sick but I don't think so, Grubby in a team, I'm not sure we'll ever see it again.
On August 24 2013 22:07 ErrantKnight wrote: I would say Welmu or duckdeok, MC is too expensive, same for Polt and Grubby has been solo forever.
But whoever it will be, you can be sure in two month he is going to have crazy good vZ.
Everyone said Welmu in the start, but then Scarlett said on reddit that nobody even got close.
I'd put my money on Welmu, but I'd like to point out that the website hasn't been updated since Welmu joined the team. So, that's not proof for anything.
On August 24 2013 22:51 Musicus wrote: Duckdeok pretty much confirmed at this point. Can't be Grubby or MC right?
tbh I wouldn't be surprised with either Welmu, Grubby, MC or Duckdeok
edit: However I don't think it's Welmu because they strongly anticipated that the player would reach the end of the tournament (with the original announcement date) and Welmu was never a favorite for this tournament.
Not that it's necessarily needed for the player to be present at GamesCom during the announcement, but Grubby's already gone back home, unless his wife left him behind.

Well Ranged also just stated it's not Welmu and Scarlett also basically said it's not him on reddit, because everybody thought it was him.

I wouldn't expect Grubby to be back on an actual team any time soon, if ever. I'm sure he's doing quite well for himself as it is, I doubt even a "life changing salary" that IdrA/HuK used to have in 2011 would make him reconsider.
And I don't expect MC to be leaving SK any time soon either, unless they decide to completely abandon SC2 (in which case there would probably be rumors floating around)

Acer have said that their soon-to-be player did not reach Ro8.

Polt maybe? Duckdeok or MC seems possibility, but it is unrealistic.

But date of announcement seems to suggest they were expecting that soon-to-be-player get at least Ro8, if not Ro4.

If we go by Scarlett's comment, it's a "new star" that didn't make it into the Ro8 in the WCS finals. Up to that point it's not been said that this player even participated in the WCS World Finals, right? But under that assumption, new star can only really refer to Maru duckdeok Innovation Welmu (if we don't take the new to seriously in every regard... all of them have been around for a long time; but they haven't been thaaat successful previously)
Yeah honestly the only player that seems more likely than Maru would be finale.
And if it is Maru, we can probably expect Prime to disband very shortly. :/
I thought Prime was recruiting a LoL team ?
I don't know man, they've always had either someone doing well in individual leagues (MarineKing, Polt, ByuN, Creator, now Maru) or they did well in GSTL. And now they won't have any of that if Maru leaves.

The vast majority of this thread is wild speculation. Personally, when posting in something like this, I wouldn't bother reading every single page for small snippets of information. Just because you do doesn't mean you can act so goddamn obnoxious to others. This goes for nearly all of your posts I've seen in the past year.

Scarlett and RaNgEd both confirmed it's not Welmu.
Okey, thank you. It is quite weird, i didn't expect Acer to pick up a korean. I would vote for a Protoss tho.
Well we do happen to be a GSL team now :D So future pickups will most likely be Koreans

So glad to hear Acer finally signed another good Terran
So what do we have now.
-Terran -eliminated before the ro8 in the WCS S2 finals -most likely korean (as any future pickup)
So Innovation (almost impossible), Maru and Polt left.
But maybe Scarlett is a sick troll .
Polt's not entirely out of the realm of possibility, but I imagine with his recent results, he's been keeping his sponsors happy and his sponsors have been treating him likewise.
Couldn't it also be Grubby joining a real team? If Nathanias is trolling, else i'd say Maru is the most likely, given that Prime isn't really rich enough to keep him.
It had been planned for Team Acer to announce the acquisition of our new StarCraft2 player tonight, at 8pm CEST. However, due to unforseen complications, this is not possible, so all we can do at this moment is provide an explanation, give you a hint and let you know the official date we can 100% make the announcement.

The team requested that we announce matters in this order, waiting until the official end of his contract before making public that he is joining our team. Meh I don't really like them. I don't like Nerchio, ParanOid and Bly too much and I would like MMA and Scarlett on other teams. Atleast they are rich enough to fly their players around, but still meh.

I know that this is unlikely but with our info so far it's either Polt, INnoVation, or Maru, and that picture looks most like INnoVation. But my guess right now is Polt.

However, due to unforseen complications, this is not possible, so all we can do at this moment is provide an explanation, give you a hint and let you know the official date we can 100% make the announcement.
The player in question is still under contract with his old team until the end of August, a fact that was not entirely certain until today, so he will officially join Team Acer on the 1st of September. The team requested that we announce matters in this order, waiting until the official end of his contract before making public that he is joining our team. We had tried to contact his team over the matter for a number of weeks, but matters did not become entirely clear from their end until today.
that's definitely a photo of Cella.
I know that this is unlikely but with our info so far it's either Polt, INnoVation, or Maru, and that picture looks most like INnoVation. But my guess right now is Polt.

it really does. this could be interesting.... if its true, STX is dead.
We can strike innovation off the list because he's not going to leave stx especially after they just won pro league. It can't be polt because the press release says player is still under contract to old team and can't announce till sept 1. Polt isn't on a team. He's self sponsored by coolmaster. That leaves maru? That would be kind of surprising but not shocking due to all the prime money rumours. Plus he just won osl so can cash in and get a salary now. Plus maru would continue the trend of prime players leaving after winning gsl/osl!
Then again, scarlett tweeted new player is out before round of 8 and she tweeted that before she knocked out maru. It really can't be innovation can it? He said he hates travelling to foreign tourneys and doesn't care about fans. I wouldn't imagine he'd join a foreign team, unless stx really is dead.

Meh I don't really like them. I don't like Nerchio, ParanOid and Bly too much and I would like MMA and Scarlett on other teams. Atleast they are rich enough to fly their players around, but still meh.

So is Bly. And I love Nerchio for his dry humour and honesty.

EG hired Jaedong. They did not "borrow" him.
You're right of course. I was just talking about the whole situation in general. There was a lot of speculation when Jaedong was being signed to EG that he would be on loan (which of course was false).

Maybe you think of JinAirCheck he joined WesternWolves recently, but i do not remember the deal there.
This is very odd to say the least, that STX would drop their biggest star like that considering they said they would continue to support the SC2 squad. Or maybe Acer simply has a lot more money to spend on SC2 than they've been letting us know.
:/
Let's hope Bogus can get back to his top form and prove to be worth Acer's money... he did get destroyed by Maru and PartinG and now got eliminated pretty quickly by TaeJa and NaNiwa. :\

After my break when I start practising with the new @AcerEsport player, I won't be losing ZvTs anymore
Looks like it has to be Innovation at this point... Scarlett said it wasn't Duckdeok and it was probably a Korean so Welmu and Grubby are out of the picture. MC, Maru, and Polt don't really fit the silhouette. MMA is already on Acer.

Innovation is sacred, I don't want to see him flying all over the world playing in foreign tournaments, or god forbid playing in WCS America/Europe . Also no Innovation in Proleague T____T.
Same with Jaedong, he is overexposed, except he just had his BW legacy going for him when he was signed, not SC2 dominance.
I certainly hope people realize that STX will probably be dissolving as their main sponsor is in a huge bunch of debt and dropping a ton of side projects to meet a bottom-line.

Jaedong is exposed a lot but he is doing extremely well in every tournament he enters (I think he's had 1 out of his 7 tournaments that he didn't make semi finals?).
Innovation will probably do just as well, or better if he went to all foreign tournaments. I imagine he would stick with WCS KR, you can't change anymore unless I am mistaken anyway.
If by any case it is Innovation my mind will just crush. Why? If STX would close, why SKT, KT, CJ won't pick Innovation? Jin Air is out cause is saving money to pick Jaedong back :-P

Maybe Innovation would like to earn more money. And with his level he can roll through a lot of foreign tournament.
Money wise acer (or any foreign team really) is better than kespa.

Honestly, if you have the skill of Inno/Jaedong, and you don't mind travel, there is no reason not to go to many foreign events. Even if you don't win them all, placing deep is such a good income.
You heard it here (probably) 27th since i have only skimmed through the time.
he's going to school in texas... and he's hinted that he's probably not gonna practice as much for WCS season 3, so i have no idea what acer gains by signing him.

Probably not " too much " but he's asking for more than they're willing to spend on sc2 players.

I do (Even if i was actually talking about the foreign tournament money) Especially considering that STX is a company that can't manage their finance for shit when some foreign team can actually balance a budget (EG/Acer/Millenium/WW just to quote some).

No probably not more than jaedong, I just mean maybe EG doesn't see value in spending tons of money on another sc2 player at this time and they're happy with their current roster.

I do. Especially considering that STX is a company that can't manage their finance for shit when some foreign team can actually balance a budget (EG/Acer/Millenium/WW just to quote some)
At the same time, STX is a company that has total assets worth of $ 23 billion USD (and is few billion (I think 9?) in debt though).
But the original poster was indeed talking about price money from tournaments, so that's something different.. He probably would be able to win a lot of them, but on the other hand if he would want to go to foreign tournaments in the off-season, STX would probably let him, because why not...
No probably not more than jaedong, I just mean maybe EG doesn't see value in spending tons of money on another sc2 player at this time and they're happy with their current roster.
Most likely the case.
I mean let's be honest, Jaedong has been performing really well lately and generating tons of hype, and the support crew of aLive, Revival and Oz have been doing unexpectedly well as of late. I mean Revival's really hit his stride recently, having shown nothing but glimpses of hope in GSTL in the past; aLive and Oz may not be back in their Code S Top 4 forms (+ IPL Champion, MLG Top 4 respectively) but they're getting back up there for sure.
Plus, let's be honest, after this weekend I expect Bogus' stock to decline a bit and for good reason.

All the clues point to Acer.Innovation as crazy as that might sound. Per Acer Tweet player lost in the round of 16 at WCS Finals that leaves Welmu, Duckdeok, Grubby, MC, Polt, Innovation, Maru, MMA. Scarlett strongly hinted in a tweet that the player is a terran. That leaves Polt, Innovation, Mari=u, MMA. We can eliminate MMA as he is already on Acer, Scarlett also said the new player will be playing in GSTL. That probably eliminates Polt as he is studying in Texas. So we are left with Innovation and Maru. The profile in the blacked out picture provided by Acer looks a lot more like Innovation than it does like Maru.

Only thing that bugs me about it is, that STX comfirmed they would keep the SC team directly after the PL finals. Still think it's Innovation.

Well she wasn't planning on playing until October regardless according to her post in her fan club so maybe she just means that's when and where she'll be playing when she comes back and not exactly when GSTL starts.

GSTL starts in october? link source? that leaves them like 2 months to do a full season when the other season was 4-5 months long.

I don't think Innovation wants a bank full of tiny pieces of paper with "I.O.U" written on it.
Only thing that bugs me about it is, that STX comfirmed they would keep the SC team directly after the PL finals. Still think it's Innovation.
Have you already forgotten LG lying for months to IM?
With such a large stacked team I'm glad that at least they have a ridiculous number of sponsors. Otherwise, how are they feeding themselves and whatnot!? D:

I think it's innovation. They tweeted that they can't announce him before 1st September. Probably because of some kespa thing since there would be no reason to delay the announcement of Polt and Maru is very unlikely
I don't know that it could be Innovation. Kespa usually is involved in some kind of high level negotiations and such an announcement would probably require a sit down press conference where all the people involved could come out and get photo ops to illustrate the great work they did working through the difficulties in transferring or loaning a player to a foreign team. Or at least a little bit of an official announcement timed to coincide with the team announcement.
Whereas I could see Maru wanting to go from Prime to another team. I mean, after the way Barbie dissed him in that OSL promo? Yeah, totally.
i wonder if "knocked out before wcs finals ro8" means that the player was never at wcs finals in the first place, having been knocked out beforehand, and the change of time for announcement is simply a misdirect to make it seem like he is at wcs finals. would open up lots of possibilities. i'm having a really hard time believing it's innovation.

THats why it can't be announced before 1st September. Kespa wants to announce it officially prolly
Everything does point to innovation :/ Aside from the silhouette, they said they had difficulty communicating with the other party and it wasn't clear at first whether or not they could announce him before his contract ended at the end of august. This all sounds like Kespa. I hope it isn't so.
STX is also almost probably definitely likely disbanding. It's one of those pieces of information you hear second hand, but from a ton of random people, and fits what you already know about the situation.
Because the silhouette of Acer's picture matches perfectly with the picture of Innovation used on his Liquipedia (notice the round cheek and glasses bump), I'm inclined to think that this was Acer being cheeky and misleading.
After all, last time they were signing a Zerg, and it ended up being MMA (and Cella).
As far as the HyuN/StarDust/Welmu hint, I can't really think of anything. They all did well at Assembly, and they are all European champions. Polt is also an Assembly winner/ European champion. But this train of thought feels like a stretch.
Between the three candidates (assuming it really is a Terran and Scarlett didn't mislead us on that one), there is no twitter lockdown on acerpolt, acer_polt, acerinnovation, acer_innovation, acermaru, and acer_maru.
Acer keeps their players and site members tagged as http://www.aceresport.com/uk/profile/####.htm with the number being something between 1 and ~11450 currently. MMA was high 9000s. The most recent Acer player is Trackmania Royal at 11320. So, uh, if anyone has the time and is really bored, I suppose they could go through all numbers between 11320 and 11450 and see if this new player has a profile yet, since they planned on unveiling it tonight.
Anyways, despite not technically being on a "team", I'm going with Polt. To me, it makes more sense than Innovation.
Edit: Oh, well that "STX might be disbanding" rumor kind of pushes it back towards the more obvious Innovation.

Yeah I browsed around there too. The only thing that caught my eye was http://www.aceresport.com/uk/profile/11448.htm which is "ImBaTosS" and registered today. Wasn't that the ID Scarlett was using at WCS? Maybe this was the profile placeholder, or maybe it was just someone who is a fan of Scarlett and registered on the site. Either way, it's unfortunately no help.

Gone through the first ten from 11450. It seems to be sorted by date, so I doubt that <11440 would have the Acer pickup.
Hahaha when I wrote my post there was no 11450, so I have no doubt that this was done in response as a troll. Unfortunately, most players don't have registered usernames as AcerName. It's just Name, like MMA and Scarlett. Quick, someone register AcerInnovation!
Edit: and someone just made AcerInnovation as 11451. I'm guessing AcerPolt incoming as 11452.
How is Revival, aLive and Oz results unexpected? They are your run of the mill pro's.

That's exactly it. They are run of the mill pros. Which is why I don't think anyone was expecting them to make a finals anymore.
aLive and Oz haven't had any results comparable to these for over a year. And in Revival's case, he's never placed more than Top 8 in any event prior to WCS AM last season.
If the account was never created (or if Imbatoss is the placeholder), Acer is losing available user names for when they actually make the profile, lol.

HuK currently trolling on twitter (saying he's switching to Terran and enjoying his Acer monitor) reminds me that, technically, being knocked out before the Ro8 can include everyone in the general WCS tournaments.

I'm having a hard time believing it's Innovation. However, when talking about player transfers, I think it's fairly clear that if a player (even your star player) wants to leave your team to join another team, then it's inadvisable to try to keep him on your team, since he won't be playing at his best, may cause issues with team atmosphere and morale, etc. (See like all the SlayerS and TSL drama.) So I guess it's hypothetically possible Innovation wants off STX for whatever reason; I cannot really imagine another reason why they would let him go, unless they were (as you say) disbanding or what-not, but then I'd expect him to go to another KeSPA team tbh.

Hmm, I wonder why EG or Liquid aren't able to recruit these big name players. Lucifron and Vortix went to Mouz, Jjakji to mYinsanity, and now possibly Innovation to Acer. If you think about it, the last TL recruitment was in January 2013 (about 8 months ago) with Snute.
Is TL just not recruiting or are these players rejecting TL offers? It's been an awful long time since Liquid recruited another sc2 player. I wonder what's going on.

TL has never been the mass recruiting kind of team, although their team is looking kind of small these days with sheth now permanently retired.

At one time Liquid had 9-10 active sc2 players. Then Jinro, Haypro, and Sea retired. Nony left the team and Sheth became inactive (not to mention Huk leaving).
In 2010, they recruited 5 players, 2011: 3 players, 2012: 2 players, 2013: 1 players. It's not really about recruiting, but more about replenishing their retired/inactive players. At the rate of players retiring to TL recruiting more players, it's going in the wrong direction. I just hope they recruit to replenish their roster.

TL recruits good people as well as people who are good players. If you look at all the people on that roster they are usually really good human beings. TL players have a high standard so I think they take a lot of time when they decide to sign someone. Not to mention Team Taeja is back it appears. I would expect to see TL to add a player or two in the upcoming months, just because Sheth is done, Ret I haven't seen much from. Now that I think about it. Only Hero, TLO and Taeja seem to be the most active ones.
As far as the acer thing. A new Terran player would be good and would help Scarlett's game out a lot I am sure to have access to that kind of practice. Innovation would be huge, didn't know he was on the market haha. Maru I could see because Prime just seems like it is dying and now that he has won a big championship he can demand a bigger contract. But its probably someone random like Marineking or or or or watch it be Flash lol

haha pulling an EG I see Can't wait to find out who this player is but I seriously doubt it's Innovation. I can see it being Maru though. Prime is in trouble, possibly going to disband and he can probably fly around with a foreign team collecting money considering his skill level and such.

I'm 99% sure that Acer simply turned Nerchio into the silhouette...
I think the first tweet of HyuN/StarDust/Welmu is our best clue (everything else just feels like massive trolling and misdirection).

Is TL just not recruiting or are these players rejecting TL offers? It's been an awful long time since Liquid recruited another sc2 player. I wonder what's going on.
Liquid has always been known to not recruit the absolute best players in the world, but players with good personalitys or who seems to have great potential like HerO and TaeJa, they really started to shine after joining Liquid
I think it will be Welmu but if it is Innovation, well sucks for STX!
I love Inno, I hope that he doesnt join Acer. I despise Acer and if they poach him from STX... Tbh I dont know what I will do, I will never like Acer either way. And when they ask me for 500€ to fix my laptop screen thats discusting. Shame on you Acer

You are aware that the company behind STX is on the brink of bancrupcy?
Anyways, with the latest Tweets it's pretty clea in my opinion that it is HyuN, so my bet is on him.
I really hope its not Bogus, proleague is likely to not have EG-TL back and if they lose the defending champions ace player as well it would be another big blow.
Actually kind of looks like INnoVation's silhouette, omg.
it really does. this could be interesting.... if its true, STX is dead.
STX still has a ton of protoss. Enough to win another PL championship :D But departure of their main star is definitely impossible unless STX is dead. But anyway, this is all a large amount of trolling by Acer&Co.
Might be wrong on this, but didn't some KeSPA player recently join a foreigner team even though he will still remain on the KeSPA team? Could be another variation of this type of deal.
Maybe you think of JinAirCheck he joined WesternWolves recently, but i do not remember the deal there.
Yeah, this is what I was referring to.
Previously known as "ALBM", Kim formerly played under the Jin Air Green Wings banner. Kim was enthusiastic to join our ranks when we approached him, eager to take on the challenges of a foreigner team. He will continue his dominance under the WesternWolves tag with approval from Kespa and Jin Air Green Wings.
So, I might be misunderstanding the wording of this, does this mean he will also remain a part of KeSPA/Jin Air Green Wings? Or did KeSPA just give approval for him to join immediately and ignore any contract obligations?
If the former, possibly Innovation cut a deal similar to this. Acer has more to gain out of sponsoring a player in the foreign scene, and if they covered Innovation's travel fees so KeSPA didn't have to, it would be a win-win situation.

If Acer starts playing in proleague I'd see Innovation. If the don't (and I don't hink that Acer could compete in proleagure) there is no reason for Innovation to leave Kespa, even if STX fails.

Just out of interest: why do you think Proleague matters so much? Are the players actually making more money with proleague then with WCS and Dreamhacks?

I don't think Proleague matters that much to the players on their own. They value Proleague because of the teams they play in (and because of its history) and because most of the sponsor exposure for the team sponsors is based in Proleague, but as far as I know most KeSPA pros are dying to play in tournaments overseas. As a rule of thumb, if you offer a player a good deal he'll take it even if it means abandoning Proleague.

Proleague isn't very valuable for foreign teams. Foreign viewership is very low, and its really expensive, and intensive to participate, and your players are basically bogged down in a tournament that lasts for many months. It's very important for Korean teams obviously, but I really don't see it as being viable for foreign teams so I don't think any foreign team apart from EG-TL would ever go for Proleague.

It's going to be him or Maru. While Maru sounds a LOT more likely, the shadow on that picture earlier posted kind of makes it seem like it's Innovation.
Edit: I don't think they're trolling us about that it's a Terran. A Protoss doesn't suit in Acer, they all hate Protoss players lol. And they've plenty Zergs.

Honestly, I don't think it's INnoVation either but looking at some of these comments... It's the exact same story before EG signed JD. Even if it's unlikely it's not impossible.
It would be cool if the OP would be updated with all the information that we have gathered. People aren't reading the entire thread and posting stuff that is just, blah.

My guess is the new player should have been Flash, but they just figured they were negotiating with a scammer-imposter all along.
Let's play a guess game, what other unforeseen circumstances can prevent you from announcing a new player you just acquired?
4 Terrans got knocked out in group stage, 1 was MMA, the three others Inno, Maru and Polt. Polt is studying in USA, is under a fairly new contract with a team (doubt its him). Leaves us with Maru and Innovation, this picture cannot be Maru o_O!!
Guys, we already know its a Terran and its a Terran that dropped out in the first group stage. There are only three possibilities: Polt, Maru, or INnoVation.
I think acer is just trying to generate discussion and all of their tweets should be taken with a grain of salt. Pretty disappointing to find out they're postponing the announcement.
On August 26 2013 01:08 Packawana wrote: Guys, we already know its a Terran and its a Terran that dropped out in the first group stage. There are only three possibilities: Polt, Maru, or INnoVation.
Cant be inno or maru and polt is not in a team atm so polt for sure.
Kind of incredible but I think it might just be Inno, Polt doesn't properly have a team to interfere with this kind of announcement (CM Storm is his personal sponsor not a team, they signed a longer contract than that I think, plus I don't see why they would interfere, they could sponsor Acer and get even more visibility), Maru has way too many ties to Prime to even consider this. So I think if all the clues given are true (not just given to add to the hype and the suspense) it should be Innovation, don't want to know were Acer made cuts for that it seems to me as they were not in the best financial position (the company I mean) (didn't find their financial results but their stock exchange informations are telling me that their stocks have lost a lot of their worth over the last months 3.13 USD per stock when I checked).
How about Alive? Why is everybody disconsidering him?
Would be amazing if they could snap Innovation, would be a huge plus for the foreign scene if we could see him competing in Dreamhacks and other tournaments. But chances are slim, even if he would want to leave STX, I'm sure one of the bigger teams will sign him before Acer.

If thats true and considering that Naruto dislikes it maybe even Grubby? The most realistic ones in my opinion are Welmu and Polt.

Or just made a photo at gamescom, after all all are in place, why not :D?
There are many reasons for not taking the actual shot:
- Lack of time -- players need time to rest and practice - No good studio available -- need good lighting etc. - Did not want to risk being seen together by Slasher and "paparazzi"

ya, with all those kespa players in top8 wcs hes gonna be fucked
If that's Inno, Axiom and Acer share a teamhouse, don't they ? He has Ryung, Alicia, MMA, Scarlett as training partners if he wants to. That's already pretty good and I'm pretty sure he has his own network of players who would want to practice with him. And there's prolly Cella there.
This is a risky move by Acer. By teasing us and letting us fantasize, they will probably make a lot of people disappointed. They should have waited until the actual announcement.

It's a terran so probably not.
Is there other source for this than Scarlett's tweets? Considering that she told the new player to be "a son of Aiur" in a tweet earlier I wouldn't trust her alone.

EG and JD, i do not think many believed too.
But EG is known for recruiting the top names. I find it tough to believe that Acer could support Innovation.
I think Acer is far more rich than EG
It's not about how rich a company is. It's about how much they spend on esports. EG spends far more than Acer on esports that it's not even close. LG is super rich and they spent nothing on IM. A rich company does not mean they automatically allocate a ton of money for their esports budget.

Yeah dont trust her, all the possible tweets from acer and scarlett dont match up to a single player. It's just a bunch of curveballs to keep people curious and guessing.
It could just be MC, it fits the "son of Aiur" requirement and he's known for having a really solid T off-race, and he was also knocked out before ro8.

That would be pretty strong statement about the economic state of the Team Acer, I can't think many more expensive players. Better yes, but few understand or even have as much publicity value as him.
Scarlett won't be losing ZvTs anymore because she won't be playing ZvT with the new guy! (And a restraining order on MMA somehow =P ) I'd say pick your protoss dropped in Ro16.

Only if MC suddenly went soft and lost 20 pounds (all muscles of course). I love the BossToss but his figure is nothing like the person in the photo. That person looks kinda tall and thin, too tall for a korean, though maybe thats just the photo.
Is it just assumed innovation can't practice with kespa players if he's apart of team acer? It's a sponsorship... these players go where the money takes them since it's currently their career and livelihood. I imagine everyone in kespa understands this and would probably be perfectly okay with innovation, or any other kespa member, taking an increase in pay.
The big question is, what does it mean exactly "knocked down before Ro8" from the Scarlett tweet. It has been made at 6 p.m. in the afternoon, so it doesn't really say whether he has been knocked out already on Friday, or from the final match. The fact that she wrote it so late may be indicative of the latter, if it weren't for the fact that she was playing in the last final match of Ro16, so she probably had better things to do than tweeting about their AoaA (anouncement of an anouncement). Also, if the kocking down of the player means he has to be announced earlier, why doesn't that apply to Friday-koncked players a day earlier? This tiny details would disfavour the Innovation theory.
Given that contract details are pretty diffcult to get if you are not an insider, the only other information I could think of is looking at the signup dates of the other players and see if there are some "round" multiplies of a year:
It will never be a kespa player the caliber of innovation or rain. The other week, some unknown team recruited an unknown player. One of the comments was something like "This team is really becoming something to fear". *Looks at the roster* - 1 not-so-great koreans (Apoc I think?) and 4ish unknown players.

It's clearly a Protoss. Scarlett won't lose anymore ZvTs because the new Protoss Acer will defeat the terrans.

I don't think it's going to be welmu by the color of the hand on Scarlett's shoulder. Welmu is a very pale kid and the pigmentation of the hand that's on Scarlett's shoulder is a bit darker, so by context I'm going to go with the new player being a Korean.
Among the koreans, I'm not sure anymore whether the new player will actually be Terran anymore. Still, Acer.Innovation would be cool but I'm probably going way off lol.

innovation will never be a member of Acer, just like Lebron James will never be a member of the Charlotte Bobcats. Stars dont play for mediocre teams. I cant believe how many people think this is actually going to happen or they just like to live in a dream world. Innovations team just won proleague, and STX will match anything Acer would give him to keep him on the team. Plus, he gets to keep living and training with other high end Koreans, and not mma/scarlett/nerchio. STX easily has players just as good if not better and people dont even know who they are because they arnt foreigners or past gsl champions. Yeah it would be cool, in a fantasy world.

Nobody can be sure of what other people thinks. Innovation said multiple times in interview that he doesn't like to travel, and generally he doesn't want to attend foreign tournaments. Not saying that's exactly the case, but there's a possibility that he really doesn't like to go to foreign countries, and travel a lot.

Seeing as WCS NA season 3 starts in September, does this mean Scarlett will not be competing in WCS Season 3?
Yeah she'll miss season 3 premier for sure. She said she is letting her wrists fully recover. BTW just think she finished top 8 in WCS with bad wrists.
Based on Scarlett's twitter posts, this new player is a Terran (and pretty good at TvZ when it comes to that), was at WCS and got knocked out before the Ro8. There are only 4 Terrans knocked out in WCS Ro16: Maru, INnoVation, Polt and MMA. MMA's already on Acer, so he's definitely not the one. That leaves us with Maru, INnoVation and Polt. Polt isn't on a team (although I'm not sure how binding his CM Storm sponsorship contract is, but technically that's not really a team), so I don't think he's the likely candidate either, based on Acer's latest announcement.
Meanwhile, Prime and STX Soul have long been rumoured to have run into some financial difficulty. Not sure about Prime, but I DEFINITELY remember that before the Proleague finals, the Woongjin Stars coach said something about both teams (STX and WJS) having gone into receivership. So it's not unlikely that either Maru or INnoVation, despite being faces of their respective franchises, could be released. Now out of those 2, I'd say INnoVation is far more renowned at TvZ. Maru, in his OSL run, mostly amazed us with his TvP (4-2ing Rain) and TvT (4-0ing INnoVation). Plus, in the teaser picture released by Acer today, it really didn't look like Maru but kinda like INnoVation. I'm guessing this new player is INnoVation.
Although why would INnoVation go though... even if STX can't afford to have him anymore, I'm pretty sure the rich kids KT and SKT would be dying to have him (I shudder at the thought of Flash/Rain and INnoVation being on the same team). Ugh.. I'm so torn.
With this much hype and speculation if its anyone less than Innovation or Polt or someone of that caliber alot of people are going to be disappointed. Including me.

It will backfire only if they won't announce Innovation. Which is very possible given their love for troll tweets.
If that stencil cut out thing is at all accurate, it definitely won't be Maru...he's too short. It really does look like innovation, I would be shocked if that were the case!

basically. with SC2 in such a tenuous position in Korea and teams like STX basically hanging on, having a player of that caliber jump ship doesn't look so good. it's a big blow to proleague in particular. a dip in form would also be likely, even if there are some team house to freelance success stories

I agree that it would be a big blow to the Korean scene, I guess mostly the Kespa side since eSF has always had to deal with this. None of them could prevent EG from taking their players if they really wanted to(other than the super loyal ones like nestea).
But for the overall scene I don't think it would be such a bad thing, at least on Acer Innovation would be able to go to many international tournaments like Jaedong has been doing, thanks to EG Jaedong has become one of the most popular players in sc2. If Innovation gets paraded around the world he could receive the same treatment. I think it would also be super interesting to see him play on axacer in GSTL.

innovation will never be a member of Acer, just like Lebron James will never be a member of the Charlotte Bobcats.
I have to agree, I think the hints are just trolling on the part of Acer/Scarlett. Even if STX is doing so badly financially that they wouldn't re-sign their star player, I'd be extremely surprised if none of the other KeSPA teams would have picked him up. Though, to be fair, Acer isn't really a mediocre team, at least in terms of the foreign scene, but it doesn't have anywhere near the brand recognition of EG/TL/the like.
These people who think that innovation would be a bad pick-up are weirdly misperceiving things. Acer is arguably the best foreigner team right now. This team would be a huge blessing to his TvZ (Scarlett, Nerchio, Bly) and MMA and Innovation could probably learn a lot from each other. It would also give Innovation access to all the foreigner tournaments he wants to attend. And this fills the roster of the Acer team out with the best terran in the world. This is a huge gain for the foreigner scene and it frees up room in the Korean scene for more talent to emerge there. Sure they lose an important player but it's not the end of the world. He has been losing a lot, lately, anyway. Who knows, maybe he'll be staying in Korea?
Maybe he won't even join Acer. O__________O
I'm becoming a big fan of Acer, though. Too many teams to like! -goes to check for acer hoodies-
If it is Innovation proleague would be the worst hit, the defending champs losing their ace player would be a pretty big blow, especially if EG-TL don't return as well.
Apart from that it would be interesting to watch him all kill nearly everyone in GSTL.

I'm pretty sure that Nerchio and Bly are "huge blessings" in the same way that Speed and Bee were "helpful practice partners" for Jaedong back in the days of Oz...

In what way? Because Kespa would be losing control of their best player?
basically. with SC2 in such a tenuous position in Korea and teams like STX basically hanging on, having a player of that caliber jump ship doesn't look so good. it's a big blow to proleague in particular. a dip in form would also be likely, even if there are some team house to freelance success stories
Agree. These inter tour really became JD's salvation. He's a huge fan favor now. If only kespa could loose their restriction, players like Bisu, Stork might already have a chance to shine. Since the korean sc2 scene is going nowhere, i really hope these BW big names got a second chance by join international teams. Innovation certainly will benefit a lot from all those international tournaments if he joined Acer.

You really can't compare the two at all here. Your ability to win in a team game like basketball hinges on your teammates' ability, whereas SC2 is a solo game. Yes, there are a lot of perks with playing on certain SC2 teams (travel, comfortable living, etc), but ultimately your ability to succeed rests on your own shoulders and not your teammates. SC2 players will go where the money/opportunity is.
You have to keep in mind that Bogus wasn't a top 5 player; INnoVation is. When you go from zero to hero in a couple months, you absolutely HAVE to ride your success and try to land a big contract while you're still relevant. We're already starting to see INnoVation struggle a little bit (he's still amazing, but he can be stopped now). The longer he waits, the more he risks losing the hype around his name, which could cost him a big contract.
It doesn't matter if Acer is a "worse team." If INnoVation likes what they have to offer, that's where he will go.
Also, I think people really overestimate the "practice partner" aspect of teams. I forget if Revival or Oz said it at IEM Shanghai, but they apparently didn't play against each other much even though they lived in the same house (with Coach Park, mind you) for Proleague. Most pros seem to practice by grinding out ladder games because you get to experience a huge variety of play styles, builds, etc. Plus, the WCS map pool is now being used for ladder maps.
I feel a little silly for typing all this when we really don't know if INnoVation is going anywhere, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Player should go where they can make the most money. In Korea player like Innovation can only make money from the salary. Considering he was a nobody in BW he probably made some shitty salary and because STX is in financial trouble it looks like Innovation won't get a pay bump. Joining Acer a player like him can make decent money from the foreign tourney (MC makes $250K in 3 years and he is not even that good of a player, Taeja and Hero each made close to $100K in 2012 in tournament winnings alone). And he will also be a lot more popular. So unless he is blinded with elitism like the poster above he should just go where the money & fame is.
PL would be hurt but imo PL is actually a pretty insignificant part of than SC2 scene. I mean, SC2 is not a team sport and forcing the weird team format doesn't make it one. There is little to no teamwork involved in the PL matches. It's like tennis. There are team cups for tennis but with way lower money/prestige and I doubt anybody give a fuck. Yes it worked in BW for some weird reason but we shouldn't expect it to work in SC2. It would be perfectly fine if PL is a side thing, not the main reason Kespa players play SC2 for. What a huge waste of talents.
In fact, I'd love to see more Kespa players joining foreign teams, and WCS EU/NA even. I think that would be a good trend for SC2.
MarineKing could be a good guess if you think about it.

Could mean his last match with Prime. - Wouldn't be able to announce until September 1st because of his Prime contract not ending till then. We've basically heard nothing from MKP since everyone was talking about how he might retire

You're making a lot of assumptions on how the team operates internally. Just because a player gets signed by the organization and wears the same shirt color as the others doesn't mean the team interactions work as smoothly and that training is going to be productive. Getting the most out of joint practice depends a lot on communication, as well as genuine commitment of both players to practicing with each other.
On the topic of Bogus in general, it's questionable if he would be able to remain a top player for a long period of time (even on STX). We all know that these apparent god-tier players in Starcraft 2 tend to come and go very quickly, and there have been very few of them who were able to make a comeback after their first initial downfall. Especially considering that there's no way of knowing how he will adapt to an environment radically different from the only thing he knows, and how he will handle being taken out of his comfort zone. It's a massive risk.
It's just a weird move and doesn't seem very well thought through, especially in the long run.

Well damn, now it's probably Acer. INnoVation? But why did he decide to go the Acer instead of another Kespa team? Or even a bigger foreign team (EG?). Certainly there would be big bidders for one of the best players in the world, did Acer really come out on top?

they did not sign him, they have him on loan until November. for all we know, Jin Air could have stipulated the return of JD in their sponsorship contract. and if EG pull out of Proleague, which is looking more and more likely, they don't have much of a reason to keep a Korean team house.

kespa's "power" has nothing to do with it. if EG got JD on a loan (ie, if JD was under contract with T8 at the time of his transfer to EG), then the contract is binding. they could always work something out, of course, which is what happens in soccer all the time, but contracts are contracts.

To add on to that. I doubt a man with JD`s intelligence would let himself be handed around without any say in it. It will be his decision where to go. Pretty sure they are in control of him since he signed with them, i doubt they would get rid of the team house tho with how much better they have been doing lately.
they did not sign him, they have him on loan until November. and if they pull out of Proleague, which is looking more and more likely, they don't have much of a reason to keep a Korean team house.
I don't know why people cling to this idea that kespa has any control over jd. They couldn't even keep innovation from leaving instead of joining another kespa team.
I doubt he will waste his time before he has to go to the military living in a cramped apartement with 20 other dudes, almost never leaving korea.
he lives in a team house right now, bro. and we have no idea how important proleague is or is not to JD. but I would bet he is a little more interested in it than you seem to be.

you have no idea how the EG team house operates. and considering they spent 4 or so months under coach park (which for some reason largely coincides with JD improving! how weird!) I would imagine the differences have been pretty minimal. at any rate, your original post made no mention of the relative "freedom" of one team house or another.

This is incorrect..
I would certainly like clarification on this point if I am indeed wrong on it. I thought it was common knowledge that the circumstances surrounding JD/EG/T8 were a little unique?
The rumour was declared false by EG officials. It was all about making it seem like KeSPA was still in control of JD.

But this could also mean his skills might degrade
Polt & Taeja might disagree.
Taeja is not the best example since his training doesn't seem to have ever changed.
oh and I guess it might be worth pointing out that that reddit thread is apparently a bunch of bullshit in regards to STX disbanding. the korean article in question is just speculation, though it appears to confirm/assume that Innovation is joining Acer.

The article might be sensationalized but stx is most definitely disbanded as a sponsored team. Some of the players might stick together and play as " soul ".
It is Innovation for sure. And yes STX SouL isn't going to last long, it's just a matter of time when it will be announced. /sad face, I actually hope Innovation stays at a Korean team.

it's a little easier to be invested when you are winning than it is when you are playing sub-500 starcraft on a last place team.
Now with stx disbanding. Who will be the next sc2 kespa team to lose sponsorship and go under? How long is the sponsorship for team 8 anyways? Will they be around for more than one season?

Team 8 is kespa's orphanage for players that used to have a team. I'm assuming that it'll stay around for as long as kespa is willing to pay for those players to play.

T8 is now sponsered just like every other Kespa team.

Also I can't imagine INnoVation in that green acer hoodie lol.
Maybe because on acer he can go to foreign tournaments, have more freedom and still play in korean teamleagues.
As for EG maybe they don't want him, who knows.
That what Kaoru said about how they manage to recruit MMA. In EG, they have to stream & use Razer mouse and keyboard, wheeas Acer let them use their iwn stuff

Apparently not: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Pro_gear But it's may be old. Anyway, I just talked about what Kaoru said, i Acer, they are more "free" that in EG, and that's why MMA go to Acer (partly)

My guess is that they might have used this very image to create the silhouette composit.

I don't find anyone mention this(tell me if I am wrong): Fomos released an article about STX SOUL and Acer. In the article: STX SOUL staff told Fomos that they actually had contacted with Acer before, but no contract has been made. It seems like Acer approached the player himself during the season final and made some decisions, which makes STX SOUL embarrassed.

I remember there being some controversy about this with the Korean EG signings - foreigner custom is to contact the player personally, but this is considered 'under-the-table' to Korean teams.

In the sports I follow its considered foul play to contact a player who is under contract with another team, I don´t think its some Korean thing to consider that dirty.

In football, I believe it's illegal to talk to a player with >6 months left on his contract.
Arranging a deal with a different team in the middle of a running contract could disrupt the player's performance and motivation for the rest of his current contract period, or even lead to a situation where the player can effectively blackmail his current club to release him for a low/no fee because he no longer wants to play for them. It could also lead to a conflict of interest if the player had to play against the club he made a deal with for the duration of his contract. Even if the player has no conscious intent of playing dirty in any way, it can still affect his performance negatively, thus reducing his contribution and value to the team that's still paying his wages.
It makes sense if you think about it, especially in the kind of profession where there forcing a player to perform to the best of his perceived ability is impossible, and where player psychology and motivation counts for a lot of his performance.

pff this happens ALL the time, it's not foul play at all. Just look at football, every player of name switches team while the current contract still lasts..

That's not what he meant. In this cases, the new team contacts the former team first, not directly the player. Officially.

Yes, but the teams contact each other first here. Big difference. Whenever a player is approached by a team, this mostly leads to drama and the transfer not happening (at least not at that moment).

Why would joining Acer be bad for his results? Acer.Cella won coach of the year awards in the past. Scarlett and MMA have been posting significantly improved results recently.
Hell, if you look at recent team leagues, teamstory cup had Acer beating MVP, Acer beating Axiom, Acer beating Quantic, Acer beating Team Liquid. (They ended up taking second in the offline finals to MVP, but they did post at least one win against...looks like every team in group stages).
SC2L is theoretically a lot worse for Acer, since it's not an allkill format, so they can't rely on Scarlett/MMA to allkill, and yet somehow they're still sitting top 2 at the time of posting this.
Point is, Acer's Korean division is posting results (with 100% of their two Korean-based players qualifying for the global finals). Not only that, but the results coming out of these players are improving compared to 4-8 months ago (before being on Acer, MMA was in a slump, and Scarlett has improved significantly from the teamhouse as well).
This is not like when Acer signed MMA, and we were all thinking "well gosh, Acer, what are you going to do with him?" We know exactly what Acer will do with Innovation--he's going to train in the Axiom-Acer teamhouse, get coaching from Cella, and play in the GSTL.

Lol STXs stab at Acer now is hilarious. There shouldn't be any doubt that it's 100% Innovation. All this has unfolded gloriously for Acer.

And not to mention to have a true ace player like innovation is such a confident boost to the team. Also, inno's lost in MLG was affected by the PL matches for sure, I can believe that he can lost to sacsri if he had even a little time for the preparation. No they have fucked it up for everyone because they didn't properly think it through. If Kespa teams are running the risk of having their star players poached every time they send them to a foreign events, then they will try not to send their players to foreign events. We went through this shit with Puma, this is not how this kind of thing is supposed to be handled.

PL is the major focus for the KeSPA teams. We know this from all the interviews with the players, managers and coaches throughout the years. The team comes first. When a player got far in the OSL/MSL then yes they would set aside time and line-up training partners to make sure that player had the best opportunity of winning. This situation is a little more perplexing considering the STX Brand has been struggling for a while so it's not as simple and straight forward.
As for the MVP award. I believe Trap cemented their victory with picking up that win over ZerO in the final. Bogus has been making SK his bish ever since SK came from behind to beat him. I think you could make several cases for the players on the STX Roster. Stars were the team to beat and had one of the strongest line-ups all season. STX really picked it up in the later Rounds to show everyone, "Hey, we have a pretty darn good line-up too."

Trap did: pulled lead back to STX and together with that crushed momentum Woongjin was getting. If woongjin won 4-2 there after losing 2 games i'd bet MVP would go to sOs for same reason of momentum. And MVP was given only for regular season (overall and race ones) and formal final.

Trap deserved MVP card though. And for not getting to MLG inno can blame himself, he lost 1-2 to Sacsri (Soulkey lost 1-2 to LabyRinth lol, SKT1 player too LOL). IEM is valid point though. Though it does not like he cared at all about it.
Well I disagree, trap did great. But come on, the two ace matches against skt1 are clear the true final. And not to mention to have a true ace player like innovation is such a confident boost to the team. I agree man. The Trap victory over ZerO was pretty instrumental in securing the victory over Stars.

This I agree. Kespa weight PL way more than Individual leagues. the problem is, does the sc2 scene agree with this now. Korean sc2 scene is not as big now. The future lies in international scene.
innovation clearly is not on such big contract with STX as Flash does. This team league/individual league thing got into his mind, that's why he agreed on joining Acer.

I understand this. But I would still say innovation is the true backbone of the team. Unfortunately, over the years, people would remember the MVP instead if innovation's stunning performance throughout the whole season. The thought might run through innovation's mind that he feel unfair, which is, unfair.
Can't believe Innovation is going to Acer. I mean I am happy to see him compete in foreign tournaments, but I'm surprised he choosed Acer. Guess they have big plans if they managed to convince him to sign for them, because I'm sure that every team would like to have him. Looking forward to see how they develop in the future.
Anyway, I'm sure more and more top Koreans will sign for teams that will allow them to go to foreign tournaments in the future.
Just look at Jaedong... Signing for EG was the best decision he could have taken. He achieved so much: won lots of moneys, he's basically qualified for Grand Finals, travels all over the world and is pretty much the Korean with the biggest foreign following every where he goes. And besides that he seems to have found the passion for the game again, he seems to genuinely enjoy the game now.
And now look at Flash, who was pretty similar to JD when he left for EG. Compare their last year and see what's better for the players.

Well done Acer, way to go to fuck this up.
The only way they'll have fucked it up is if they don't get Innovation, lol.
No they have fucked it up for everyone because they didn't properly think it through. If Kespa teams are running the risk of having their star players poached every time they send them to a foreign events, then they will try not to send their players to foreign events. We went through this shit with Puma, this is not how this kind of thing is supposed to be handled.
Then that would be a moronic overreaction by KeSPA. Remember when everyone said, "Koreans will no longer attend foreign events!" when EG snatched up PuMa? Take a look at the situation now. Are eSF Koreans (who are in the biggest danger of being snatched up due to their finances) no longer attending foreign events? Please. Just provide for your players' financial stability, and the likelihood of being blindsided by a deal like this will drop drastically. If STX weren't falling apart, then I highly doubt Innovation would decide to leave. Would Flash leave KT? Of fucking course not, he gets a huge salary and many perks besides that.
This isn't to say that Acer behaved perfectly, because they absolutely should've contacted STX. But did they "fuck this up?" No, unless they don't get Innovation. Given that STX is handling this professionally (lol, Coach Lee), I think this will be resolved peacefully (and I would hope they don't decide to force Innovation to stay just because they're salty).

I like what Acer has been doing in recent years. MMA and Cellas pickup GSTL with axiom ATC and now Innovation. Acer is investing quite a bit into sc2 and I like it now pick up a couple of toss

Yeah, tbh, I don't care if Innovation goes to a foreign team or not. I just think it's idiotic to keep a player on a team against his will. If a player wants out, then you let him out, whether by asking for transfer fees or terminating the contract, etc.
It is Innovation - was knocked out before the round of 8 - innovation was out in ro16 I won't be losing ZvTs anymore - Its a terran player STX disbanding? - Innovation is the only terran player that was out in ro16 that is possibly going to be teamless. Acer.Innovation - Acer will get an amazing boost for team leagues and MMA and Scarlett will improve alot playing with him in korea.
By now it's one of these open secrets, like the Stephano-to-EG thing back then. It's very unfortunate, this is absolutely gigantic. And yet the impact fizzles away because Acer gave too many hints, assuming they could make the announcement a day later, only to find out they have to wait a whole week. And by that time everybody figured it out.
So this thread will tinker on for another week, and then there'll be the announcement, and everybody will go like "Eh, we already knew it.", when in fact everybody should freak the fuck out because this is huge.

Why should acre contact stx soul. The player is responsible for knowing there contract. As far as I'm concerned its between acer and innovation. Unless it is like a direct trade between teams where stx soul gets something out of it from acer, than it doesn't matter

The company is several billion in debt iirc. If they go under, the team is likely to disband.

the same Innovation who said he isnt interested in outside Korea? :p
You can't say, maybe it was his intention all along, maybe he's worried about STX going down and not having control of what will happen to him if that happens. Maybe he thinks his monthly paycheck doesn't fit his new status and it's tough to negociate with his management. There's ton of valid reasons from his pov.
What I'd love to see even more is for Innovation to join WCS EU next year. The region is weak now compared to KR and NA. And please somebody pick up MKP before he retires
The shitstorm surrounding this whole deal could very easily explain why Innovation have been playing a bit sub par. Acer jumping the line is imo shameful but I guess we'll know soon enough what Innovation himself wanted.
everytime I see these they always make me think I unlocked a new character in Super Smash Bros., and there's this silhouette of a player challenging me.

I'm not sure about the exact time frame, " a month ago " might be a bit longer than it actually was but the sponsored STX team has already been disbanded for a while now. It's just waiting to be officially announced once Kespa knows where each of the players will go.
