not surprising at all. Wonder who EG will pick up considering how bad Revival has been for them.

Well there is a bit of truth to this, it's not 2011 anymore, when Koreans didn't compete too much abroad, or 2012 when there was a major tournament with big prize pool every other weekend.

It's been an excellent run, Stephano, you will be missed.

I suppose we'll need to find someone else to pull drunken antics at tournaments.

Good show, Stephano. I wish you luck in life.

It is sad. Stephano and Naniwa is the only western pros that could stand up to the Koreans. Yoda is dead and there is only Luke left.

so you're saying its going up?
when the guy winning the big bucks decides to leave?

lol Stephano isn't winning big bucks anymore. The exact reason he chose to leave, as he stated in an interview. He said he found winning fun, and that's why he was motivated. When he stopped winning he lost motivation.

Sad day, Kind of wish he would stay and take a few coerces while continue playing, but I understand that if he's not enjoying it anymore better to go out on top rather than on the bottom. Hope he continues to stream on occasion and stays in the community. Wish him the best.

This was my exact reaction.

He wants so desperately to be right.

what is your prediction on prize money in 2013?
i've made mine, and behaviour like this doesn't indicate that 2013 is going to be a banner year for SC2 prize money.

I think Stephano has made excellent decisions in entering pro-gaming and leaving it, not because he isn't good anymore, but because he has proved himself and made money to live and pay for school.

It's a shame, he could've gone on winning but I think he got bored and lost his will to win. But who knows, in sc2, a lot of players have come back from retirement.

Is there really gonna be another "SC2 is dead" fight seriously at this rate incontrol can make a mild quip about dota 2 to 2GD and people will treat as a sign of SC2's death.

That pic of Stephano is so good. Perfect.

Sucks to see though I enjoy watching him clown on people.

Very sad to see but I think most saw this coming. Didn't seem like he was practicing much of late, nor did he seem like he was ever in a good mood. After winning became harder and harder for Illyes, he lost his passion, drive and general enjoyment of the game. It sucks, because with a proper regimen and work ethic he couldve been one of the best - korean or non-korean- players in the game and would have grown a respectable legacy. As it stands, Starcraft loses one of its most talented and colourful personalities.

GG Stephano.

GL to Stephano! Disappointed to see such a great player go, but I totally support his decision to focus on other aspects on life.

He got done what he wanted to do in getting that money. No surprise we've known he was leaving pretty soon. Good luck Stephano
