After skimming through 15-20 map editor bug questions on the Blizzard forums, all with no responses, I noticed when I fired up the editor that Blizzard does not provide technical support for it.
So I have a bug that I'm hoping the TL community might know how to fix. One day when I was working on my map, all of a sudden all the cliff edges glitched and now looked like this:
+ Show Spoiler +
This issue has made mapping so difficult I've given up for now on my map. Reinstalling the beta didn't fix the problem, which effects all old maps I've worked on and new ones I create. I saw a couple of other people with the same problem uploading similar glitched pictures as their map images at Curse. So since this isn't just happening to me, perhaps there is someone out there who knows a fix. Thanks!

Don't worry it will get fixed eventually by blizzard, but prolly not before the end of the first stage. One the second stage starts I'm sure they will keep the map editor as an option and it will prolly be fixed by then.
Also check you graphic settings for the game. That might be the issue if you have the game on low to medium settings.
Hope ya find a fix gl.

I don't see what the glitch is! Those cliffs look pretty amazing! (and that map looks fun to play too)

Check the pic in higher quality. The textures are a bit... funky. I agree the map looks fun to play though.

Yeah I have this issue as well in my map, kind of annoying and no idea how to solve it.
I can't even remember what triggered it, as originally (and on new maps) there was no issue,
I'm leaning towards the graphic card drivers, you running an nvidia card?

Tertle, actually I have an ATI Radeon HD 2600 in my iMac running Bootcamp.
And thank you gents for the support on the map . I'll be sure to publish it when I can get back to work and make it shine.

I've had that issue on some cliffs in the editor, I don't know how to fix it and suspect it is something on blizzard's side.

The cliff tool bugs out in other ways too, sadly. As it did in the Warcraft 3 editor. Hopefully they fix it!

Looks like the editor doesn't know how to properly handle the height you've assigned the cliffs to. Since your base is down in the water, the highest point is very high. Instead of assigning more triangles to create your cliffs, it is extending the ones you already have to a point in which they are clearly visible... and look like shit (because of how blatant they are).
I'd be surprised if this is something Bliz can quickly fix... is it is born from z-base versus max z-height. The editor is clearly stretching and not assigning new triangles. If so, they it means the editor doesn't automatically, assign new triangles OR can't. Given that they want to keep triangle counts low so many computers can run SC2, I'm going to lean toward "can't".
So, solution: make your water very shallow. May need to start over entirely with very shallow water.

sk, I think you may be onto something with the editor stretching old triangles. However, the water level should not be the issue. The ocean floor in my map is the unplayable base layer of the map like the outer space background on maps like Scrap Station, not a height I assigned myself. The glitched cliffs exist between all levels, base, low, medium, and high.
I'm beginning to lean towards what a lot of people are saying that this issue is Blizzard side. Still, if anybody has an idea I'd be happy to hear it.

Blat: I'd have to look at how those maps are made, but couldn't they be assigning those to a background set and then building the actual map on top of it?
You posted this in their forums right?

The cliffs return to normal during normal play. It's just something wrong in the editor. I have encountered this problem as well.
|
Lock game view settings is the only way I fixed this. This restricts you from other features though.
|
Blip, I'm back in business! Thanks man . I don't know what features are restricted but I'm sure I can work around all that.
And sk, yes I made a post on the Blizzard forums first, but after a day or two without answer I noticed none of the other map editor problem posts were being addressed either. Turns out the loading screen for the map editor says Blizzard doesn't directly support the editor and there isn't customer service for it just yet.

Hopefully you already fixed this. But i'm going to post the solution anyway. + Show Spoiler +View > Show Terrain > Show Hidden Terrain Cells Ctrl+T. Make sure it's off.
