It isn't. They are going for a rebuild. Makes no sense to trade one star and become mediocre. It's better to go all in on picks. The moment they traded Gobert, it became likely that they would trade Mitchell as well. He doesn't seem like the kind of transcendent star that you do a rebuild around.

Maybe, or maybe he'll be in good shape to start the season. Carrying less weight is, long term, important for bodies like that.

He'll be in better shape as long as he doesn't get any overuse injuries from playing too much. But NBA teams are smarter now. Dallas will sit him for most of the preseason, watch his regular season minutes and hold him out of a few games. It will be like he never played during the summer.

i unearthed some old Danny Ainge footage. Bo knows Football , Bo knows Baseball, Bo knows basketball too! Danny Ainge don't know baseball. He was hitting .185 at the time playing for the what was the worst team in MLB by a wide margin. He was hitting something like 8th in the weakest batter order in the game. Ainge was hitting behind current and future superstar Rick Bosetti.

It is interesting that this collection of total losers playing for the Blue Jays would go on to incredible levels of success. Ainge in basketball and the Blue Jays in baseball.

When you work your ass off... no matter how bad things seem .... you just don't know what can happen.

On a personal level, sure. On a professional level, the Celtics must have been investigating and discussing it for a while since they are rumored to likely suspend him for an entire year. They probably leaked it to gauge public reaction before going for it.

i hope the celtics would do the same to a player if it ever happened in the future (and im sure it probably has happened in the past), i dont think i've ever heard of a player getting suspended if they were cheating on their partner. kind of a double standard tbh

and if they really felt that strongly about it, why not just fire the guy

It won't happen to a player. For one, they are unionized and it has to be negotiated. More importantly, coaches are considered management and players are not. While this may not be a manager having an affair with a direct subordinate, Udoka is high enough on the food chain that he probably has some sort of morality clause on his contract same as many C-suite level employees.

I would think it has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with the power imbalance. At my company whether or not you were single or married, if you had a sexual relationship with a subordinate you would be gone. The HR reasoning is consent gets messy when there is a power imbalance. From what I read it was consensual but then it ended and he kept making "unwanted advances". I believe him being married mattered not at all other than more dramatic for the media stories. I also think that if he was not doing as well as a coach they could have turfed him and got out of the contract.

Morality clause in a contract is a catch all term that means if one party does something that harms the reputation of the other party, the other party can terminate the contract or take other remedial action.

I have to say that this is a masterclass in bad management and faux-victimhood by the Celtics. Its a pattern Hollywood likes to employ with their shitty movies as well. Step 1, leak something that will naturally generate interest and a modicum of negativity from Twitter eggs. Step 2, cry about Twitter eggs while pretending they are the NYT and NBC.
