Idk I always have had this philosophy that LBs and rushers are very risky from year to year. Technique is key in succeeding at that position, but once your technique is figured out, you can be stifled. There are only a few players who have been successful long term as a rusher, and that is usually due to having very skilled players at other defensive positions that help relieve the pressure.
For example, Von Miller in Denver is a beast no doubt, but they also had a really good secondary to back up the line (Champ Bailey, Chris Harris, Aqib Talib, etc.), passively making his job a little bit easier. The Cowboys don't really have that imo, their secondary is really lackluster. I feel like D-Law (which is strangely enough my nickname through high school) had a lightning-in-a-bottle season in 2017 and there is no precedent for him, with his current lineup around him, will succeed over the long term.
His contract is MASSIVE, and I think that locking up someone with the potential to have a monster run as a pass rusher is really a smart thing to do, but I think that it is not out of the realm of possibility that Lawrence drops off significantly unless the Cowboys put other weapons around him on defense. It really depends on if LVE can have a great sophomore season, because I think he is the secret weapon on the defense, he is a fortified stud.

Pass rushers are going to continue to be important given their impact upon the passing game, but the league is definitely trending towards prioritizing secondary players (just look at the Pats). More and more QBs have the 2.5 second release time skill set, which makes it incredibly difficult for even elite pass rushers to get home. Getting 3 seconds of lock down coverage is becoming more important. For that reason, we may be seeing peak DE value right now, which will decline over the next decade.
Edit: This is one of the reasons why I think that I would prefer that the Niners trade down instead of taking Bosa at 2. I’d rather that they get an excellent DE talent AND an excellent CB talent (plus whatever else they’d pick up) instead of just an elite DE talent.

The giants are extending sterling shepard for 4 years 41 million. This makes him the 21st highest paid receiver. I think it is a over pay and like some confirmation bias reasoning on why they traded Beckam, that they already have their number 1 in Shepard. I could be wrong but the guy seems like a decent #2 not a #1 to me. Likely Eli is the problem anyway.

Adam Thein got the 4 year 64 million extension. Good to see him get paid.

I missed Nebraska's spring game, but the blogs say it was good and a lot of people are breaking out. I'm down for a new thread. Anyone doing graphics?

Russell Wilson. 4 years. $140mil. Crazy.

Not sure he’s worth that, but he’s a unique talent and a standup guy, so not a bad outcome.

Hes not, IMO QB's are just so over paid right now that it hamstrings your whole org. As good as he is you were better to trade him for the boatload of shit you would have got and try to draft someone and put a super strong team around them. Its like the Vikings, they got better QB play and did worse.

JC got it right. This is why Brady continues to dominate. He has weapons and he makes them better.

Patriots just picked up Demaryius Thomas. Interesting to see how he looks coming off a bad injury

Yeah man, but I think even if he is slowed he is so big and strong he could be a possession type like bolden was at the end of his career.

Its funny how I care so much about the undrafted FA my team signs even though they value you them less than their 7th round pick who I care very little about.
