Paying the 12-18th place players 15k is already pretty generous imo. No offence but those players games are usually not as exciting or hyped in these kind of big tournaments because we know all of them are not even remotely close to having a chance to winning it For example 15k is already a big step up in pay for players such as coffee, Astrea, gumiho,

I don't see them deviating from the top heavy distribution, their reasons on doing so are pretty clear in the first place.

Poor Spirit, but I think Maxpax would be much more fitting. I hope he competes and doesn't let the pressure get to him. He could win it all, it would be glorious. Or at the least, push Serral or Maru in a 3-4 match.

Certainly wouldn’t have been my first choice in how to use that kinda fund

Sadly that means the korean qualifier might be a bit bloated. Three slots after eight of the best Koreans already have a slot is...tragic to be honest.

Stats/Shin/Bunny/Creator/Rogue/Nightmare are at least as good as any EU player who hasn't qualified yet, and better than most of them.

Might be...but then there are ~10 more slots for koreans most people have never heard about. I guess there's some "world cup" theming for EWC, but is there actually some higher-up at ESL/EWC who's gonna look at SC2 and say "hey why don't we have more players from Latin America" or something like that? Why not just try and get the best players in? I think just all EWC-qualifiers are region-locked? So it might really be that theme to have global representation...well, somewhat. It technically also aligns with the original ESWC who even had national-locked qualifiers.
