After learning of the extremely Top-heavy EPT 2023/24 prize spread, we wanted to hold a tournament specifically for those affected by this, so it excludes some top players:
No top 10 of EPT EU, top 2 of EPT Asia, or top 4 Americas standings
No GSL/top 16 Koreans.

The prizepool will be $500+. The Goal for the maximum price for this first Edition is $1000 Currently we are at $600+.

Support the prize pool:
Matcherino: https://matcherino.com/tournaments/60666/
$5 Replay pack on Platinum Heroes Kofi ($1 of every bought Replay pack goes towards the price)

Prize split:
1st🥇25% ($125-250)
2nd🥈15% ($75-150)
3rd-4th🥉10% ($50-100)
5-8th🏅5% ($25-50)
9-16th 🏅 2.5% ($12.5-25)

As motivation for players of all levels to sign up:
$10 for best 5-6k player (once per qualifier)
$10 4-5k player (once per qualifier)
$10 0-4k player (once per qualifier)

Please use your in game name in challonge, so we can verify your MMR over sc2 pulse. Avg MMR over the last 30 days with a minimum of 30 games played on the account will be used to put you in an MMR tier. If the account does not have 30 games, it won't be eligible for the MMR prizes.

16 player distribution:

4 PH players in 1 qualifier (in-house)
10 open in another qualifier
2 Invites

Qualifier dates (open to change if needed)
Qualifier 1: June 24th 18 CEST (In-house Platinum Heroes, anyone who is not a clan member will be kicked)
4 spots, sign up here: https://challonge.com/xyb1b7cc

Qualifier 2: June 25th 18 CEST
10 spots, sign up here: https://challonge.com/9zg8z7it

Everything single-elimination bo3, Qualifying matches bo5

Approximate main tournament schedule:
(all matches are bo5)

Round of 16 Day 1: 8th of July, 18 CEST
Round of 16 Day 2: 9th of July, 18 CEST
Round of 8: 15th of July 18 CEST
Round of 4+ Finals:16th of July 18 CEST

Streams: https://www.twitch.tv/rotterdam08 Rotterdam as main English stream for tournament and qualifiers. Additional Casters (other languages for main tournament and any Language for qualifiers) contact Tassad#9815 for the invite to the Discord.

Depending on the success of the tournament we can possibly host more with a similar format be it as weekly or bigger off season.

So hyped!! The up and coming/semi pro scene has been shafted by the 2023/24 top-heavy prizes lately, nice to see support from the community.

No Top 8 EU could have even expanded further
Seed 9 and 10 are Gabe and Showtime, they are not realy Semi pros or up and comers either

Still an absolutly great Initiative, so ignore my petty nitpicking comment

Prediction time:

This will be a prediction of each match. After the games have concluded this week there will be a recap followed by a Power rank for the final weekend, which will feature the RO8 onwards.

DnS vs HiGhDrA

Dns is the way more accomplished, experienced and higher seeded player as he actually is the first Seed of this tournament as he has the highest amount of EPT Points. Anything but a clear win would be a surprise here. However, this is pvp and DnS has shown he can certainly drop maps to weaker players in this matchup before, therefor with some good preparation I have to give Highdra a small shot of upsetting.

Score: 3-1

goblin vs Iba

This series is actually a match with interesting positions of both players careers. Goblin was once one of the brightest upcoming talents of protoss and the next big hope but in his carrer so far (he is still youg with 21 and showing growth) he has not broken into the phopeceized echelon, which other talents broke into like Maypax or Reynor. Iba meanwhile so far shows everything and maybe even more, then Reynor achieved at 12-14. Can he take the next steps and become the prodigy he is looking to be?

Score: 3-1

NightPhoenix vs HateMe

This series is the first rly close one, which could go either way. On the one side we have the new young star of the Ukrainian SC2 scene with the Protoss Nightphoenix and on the other side we have the austrian veteran and teacher HateMe. Both actually clashed before in a BBBB this year and Nightphoenix won handily with 3-1 with some unique strategies. Will HateMe now be better prepared?

Score: 3-2

Gerald vs Aristori

This match is similarly one-sided on paper and in reality as DnS vs Highdra. Both players compete vs each other in the polish scene and Gerald has always had more success and better results in his career. On top of that, Aristori is not the kind of player to cheese his way out of a bad matchup, and PvZ is not volatile without this.

Score: 3-0

ShaDoWn vs Fjant
On paper this might be another onesided series but during this year Fjant has shown and developed some capabilities to upset and taken games of Protoss with certain strategies, especially at HSC and DH with builds from Lorimbo. If Shadown is not ready for this he might run into a problem here, and he has lost series to the likes of Mixu in macro games before.

Score: 3-1

Spatz vs ArT

This PVP is a very close matchup. Spatz has gotten the better of ArT in the past and is 12-5 vs him on Map Score but ArT has shown time and time again, that if you give him time to prepare for a series anything close on paper might just look like a stomp as some BBBB for example and other results show. Both also tend to have close and entertaining matches if you like scrappy pvps. This series will be fun to watch and a nail biter.

Score: 2-3

Vindicta vs Mixu

The only Terran in the tournament has found one of the few zergs here, and Aligulac gives him an 80% chance to win this. Both also ran into each other earlier this week and Vindicta won 2-0. However, maybe Mixu was hiding some strategies to upset? He has shown some progress this year but in a different matchup (PVZ).

Score: 3-1

trigger vs Rodzyn

This PVP should be very enjoyable as Rodzyn tends to always produce great and longer series in tournaments. However, there doesn't seem to be much potential to upset besides the typical volatile Status of PVP. Trigger is Seed 2 in this tournament and has had the best results this year so far in his career, even showing he can beat some of the best in Korea.

Score: 3-1
I hope you enjoyed this preview and I haven't shown too much bias towards my players, make sure to mark your calendars and watch the tournament to support. If you can support the players, you can do so here:

You can support the players directly by donating to the matcherino or by purchasing a Replaypack here: https://ko-fi.com/teamph/commissions

The tournament is hosted by the SC2 team Platinum Heroes, who are in WTL and have players like DnS, Shadow, goblin, Vindicta and more on their roster. You will see many of them in this Tournament. If you want to see more events like this and support the players and the team, pledge here: https://ko-fi.com/teamph
