That 2v2 was actually pretty epic

Man that 2v2 really changed everything. Suddenly the momentum was completely with China.
|
What a start for Team America
|
Neeb play fantastic PvZ, and Astrea really taking advantage of Byun bad habit, sending out unit fight everywhere despite its the Chargelot army.
|
I hope for SK they practiced 2v2 seriously, they should have an advantage here because P+P has many problems
|
|
TEAM USA!!!!! "SHOUT OUT TO THE GUY WHO SAID KOREA 4-0"
|
SK still has a chance but they put themselves in dire straits
|
could be a 4-0 but not the way some people imagined

so many archons and SK is out !

What an upset! I am disappointed I won’t get to see ByuN and Solar in Paris but Neeb and Astrea is nice too! Hopefully France don’t get upset, DnS has a big responsability and the 2v2 will be of extra importance

But ByuN and Solar aren't exactly the highest level Korea can offer. And their 2v2 games I saw were pretty appalling.

Inno Parting Hydra (didn't parting win the first big event in lotv beta?)? I'd still say the lvl of that team was higher.

Inno/PartinG/Hydra was a very weak team - there's a reason Marinelord destroyed them. Inno was playing LoL instead of SC2 basically whenever the SKT schedule allowed it. PartinG was fully irrelevant after the first big LotV Dreamhack (which incidentally Solar won and not PartinG) and retired from SC2 in favor of some Chinese mobile game halfway through the year. And Hydra was just Hydra, and in his last year before military.
Now granted, I think ByuN and Solar are both tremendously overrated, but at the very least they are full-time SC2 pros, unlike the entire 2016 NationWars delegation.

so tense... Clem's army is still solid, maybe there is a chance
1-1 vs no splash looks good now

what an antitiming from Skillous, 5 sec before +1 (not like he would have won the battle but still)

Skillous is an absolute gateway man

Clem should have gotten 2-2 instead of headbutting into Skillous honestly

Also too often just stood there without kiting against the zealots.

It's so hard to get a good sense of where's the game at when there's a thousand zealot constently darting around trying to surround you. You sit around for a second and suddenly the protoss poses 2 robo and a robo bay.
I really like Skillous play by the way, he's starting to become my favorite protoss

I think China winning would be a great because I think TIME and Cyan are dreadfully underrated because they don't have that many non-Chinese tournament outings every year. They're also the only first place from the group stage left.
That said they're probably not going to Paris in person, are they? They're both skipping Valencia.

I disagree, I think the lineup is great, I love to see those underdog teams. A victory for any of them would be a great accomplissement for any of them.

I like the new format. Teams who prepared specific strategies for 2v2 managed to shine. In previous format, the nation with one monster player would rely on him only.

Having underdog teams is one thing (which I personally like!), but the real bummer is the offline part...if neither Russia nor China can travel, only one of the four matches can actually be offline.

Oh FFS
Seriously, I'm just as happy as anyone else about offline being back and all that, but the amount of players were are losing to it is getting a bit absurd. We are not playing for half a million dollars in a giant arena, it's a 10k$ tournament that has 2v2 as a central feature and is played in an inhouse studio. At some point you gotta ask if anyone would actually care, at all, if a team was online.
Also, why even let them play just to cut them latter!? Chinese players not being able to go abroad is not exactly new information, hell Time has been ruled out of DH Valencia for weeks!
I'm just hopping we aren't losing Russia too, but I guess they'll get kicked out too.

Is this official or simply just a joke from a poster?
If it's official, and it's unlikely that the Russians are able to travel, that makes the Poland/US matchup the final, no?

Official. I don't know what to say… They asked the official if they could play online after the game with MEX and the official agreed at that time. But now the players got a new e-mail. To be honest, Chinese sc2 fans were ready to have a ‘honer failure’, the answer from the official gave them new hope. But the offical broke the agreement destroyed the hope.
I just hope their break is cause of actual reasons but not political reasons. If the Peace also lose the chance, it would be really a pity. And this match would be incomplete(or disgraceful if they make a decision because of politics).
And I guess they would revive France and MEX .:)

The only fair way is to have another revival round among the 4 losing teams in the Ro8. To be honest, I am disgusted with how KR got swept and dont want to see them again in this NW though.

I think that they should be allowed to play online. The players shouldn't be punished for things they aren't responsible for. I think it was a mistake for SC2 to be brought back offline at all. The online era of SC2 has been great for the players, and I haven't found the experience lacking in any way as a viewer. I don't think it's right to prioritize offline over everything else. The players should come first, they've sacrificed a lot to become professional SC2 players. It seems wrong to take everything away after everything they've accomplished because of something that they can't control.
Maybe this isn't the place to say this, but the world is being split into two right now, and I really wish that SC2 would be one place where we didn't have to think about that stuff. Where we could just forget about the fact that we're supposed to hate each other, and just see each other as humans. Maybe that's corny, but I can't understand why we should let a tiny handful of powerful people prevent us from enjoying some SC2 together with our fellow humans, no matter where they live.
There's so much more I want to say but I would certainly be crossing a line if I haven't already. Suffice to say, I think that teams Peace and China should be allowed to play in whatever capacity they are able to. If that's online, then so be it.
