Hi everyone! High Diamond protoss here. Lately i've been experiencing difficulties in the PvZ match-up. Mostly because my colossus balls aren't that effective anymore. The infestors immobilize my enitre army and well... you know the rest.
So, I've decided to try some other builds and army compositions! There's just so damn much information on the TL forums, it would take me long time to gather everything! So I made this thread, if you're going to complain and tell me to go search the forums, just don't bother commenting, I have and it's just too much.
Anyways, I was just on a pretty long break from SC2 and now im back. I've heard of lots of stuff going on at the moment. Like stalker/sentry/ht/archon, Stalker/sentry/archon/colossi and zlot/voidray/ht mixes.
Now, when do you go for what army composition? How do you stop the infestors? How do you transition out of the FFE?
Thnxs in advance!

Well, there was this huge Tournament (Dreamhack) this weekend. Maybe you should go to Day9.tv, watch some of the recorded excellent PvZ Games (almost all of them were) and refresh your knowledge by some own research first, instead of asking us to describe the whole Matchup to you after your abstinence.

It all depends on your situation. My normal transition out of a FFE consists of 4-5 gates, a robo and a twilight council. I take a pretty fast third in most situations unless i notice the zerg player being unusually greedy (3-4 hatch before gas) in which case i do a blink immortal 2 base all in with +2 which is normally pretty successful because of how 3-4 hatch players really rely on roaches to survive.
The composition of blink stalker sentry immortal allows you to take a fast, safe 3rd while easily scouting your opponents tech. Blink stalkers can deal with mutas while you tech up to HT and archon. The only weaknesses i see in this play style are players who get aggressive with hydras(very unlikely because of how zerg players feel about hydralisks) and ling infestor mixes (easier to hold off while playing defensive because of terrain and forcefields). Late game is all about scouting your opponents choice between ultras and broodlords and reacting accordingly. I find that staying on blink stalker immortal archon HT with sentries mixed in does extremely well against ultralisk players. Being aggressive with warp prisms to bide time while throwing down 3-5 stargates can easily stop broodlord players.
As for infestors, they are tricky to deal with when being aggressive because of their ability to freeze your whole army and allow roaches and lings to get a perfect surround. If you play defensive and expand quickly while harassing with warp prisms you can really catch many zerg players off guard.
Now only if PvP made sense like this match up ^_^

The truth is, a colossus stalker ball with some HTs in the late game still works, but you cant be passive. If you apply contant harassment to the zerg (warp prisms) and attack expos with zealot warp-ins, zerg player tend to get maxed on low-tier units.
Then your colossus army works just fine with proper forcefields.
A few immortals dont hurt either. And never get more than 3 colossi.
