Shortly after the departure of their previous mid laner nl Fabian "Febiven" Diepstraten H2K has announced his replacement will be former KT Bullets and Millenium player kr Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook

H2K are delighted to confirm that Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook will be filling the midlane role during the LCS Spring Split.

The former KT Bullets star was keen to stay in Europe after a very successful stint in Korea which saw his side go undefeated in winning the IEM Season VIII – World Championship.

He will now turn his attention to the EU LCS

Richard Wells – H2K Gaming CEO

“We’re ecstatic to have secured Ryu’s services for the 2015 season. It’s very easy to look at a couple of recent games, where someone is playing essentially as a merc, and say – he’s not playing so well. We have firsthand experience that he is not only playing on a high level, but that once he is settled we feel that he will be one of the absolute top mid players in the west.”

Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook

“I’m really happy to finally be announced for H2K. I met the guys at IEM and we got along really well. I had some great experiences in Korea, but during my short time in Europe already, I knew I wanted more. I’m delighted to be here and I hope you guys will cheer us this season!”

Another top mid-laner for europe! That's really exiting! I just hope the language barrier does not become a problem for them.

I wish they could have taken Godbro, but I'm not sure if he would be able to live in the gaming house. Aside from that, the only player free in EU right now that would be as good of a pick up is Perkz in my opinion, and he is not old enough to play LCS. Another risky pickup would have been Eika but I don't think he has shown enough promise to warrant the spot above Ryu, all in all in is a decent pick up, but he certainly isn't the player he used to be, and isn't even top 5 in Europe in my opinion.
can u delete this fking tweet you kid? you think im joking or what? :)

Might be true but the potential certainly is there. He also has a good bit experience under his belt.

Really curious if we won't have a Seraph copy situation. We'll see.

With his disappointing results during his stints on other european teams, it seems entirely plausible.

However, to play devil's advocate: Seraph was only a sub for OGN teams, never any sort of star. Ryu was a top koreans midlaner before Faker came around.

I am cautiosly optimistic that he will do much better than he has shown so far. People were always saying how good he was ins scrims etc.

European midlane is stacked as always. Especially if Ryu can get out of his recent slump, in which I'm pretty confident.

Poor Ryu has gotten passed around like a cheap whore. I hope he actually has a chance to stabilize, both in his play and team situation

I think it's time for Tabzz's glorious return to midlane.
Americans don't like to use unblockables, it is considered not honest. You press a button at the wrong time and hit the other person, you are random, not a top player. You DP Sim's far fierce, it is random and not honest.

I wonder where Kerp is going? Surely all these teams that needed a midlaner in EU didn't pass him up for Nukeduck and Ryu?

Depends whether H2K are gambling on Ryu returning to peak or near-peak form after some time in LCS. Certainly Ryu looked pretty trash in Expansion, but there's no question Ryu's peak form was miles ahead of Kerp's.

You guys dont even know if Kerp is playing anymore. At least I have seen him nowhere.

In pro League motivation and mindset is extremely important, not just your ability to make a great play once in a while. Which is also why for example signing Tabbz never was an issue.

Idk, I find it hard to believe that Ryu can return to his former self after Faker destroyed him in that mirror Zed VS Zed matchup in summer 2013. Especially when you consider how stacked Europe is in terms of their mid laners' talent pool (PowerOfEvil, NukeDuck, Froggen, etc) and also his recent performance in Europe during the promotional tournament. Also his difficulty to communicate with the rest of his team due to language barriers. I can't help but feel that Ryu has been doing downhill after KT Rolster Bullets lost to SKT T1 in the summer 2013 final as well as the regional gauntlet later on.

But here's to hoping that he can indeed make a comeback and show his former prowess as we remember him from back in the KT Rolster Bullets prime days.

I really don't believe that Ryu will succeed which is pretty sad because he has shown massive skill in season 3. But that is almost two years ago and when he returned to jungle he looked really poor. He then goes on to look even worse with a return to the midlane in the Expansion tournament. Look pretty poor at IEM as well, in my eyes there's no hope for Ryu or H2k. I feel like there has to have been better opportunities on the solo queue ladder. One thing that Ryu does have going for him is his experience working in a team environment for a long time back in Korea, but with questionable English skill I feel like it will be hard for him to succeed in EU. Of course we can't blame Ryu for the demise of Millenium, that roster was pretty much doomed to fail, with last minute Korean ringers and a burnt out Creaton, plus a subpar support in JRee.

Do you really count PowerOfEvil to the best midlaners in Europe already?

He's gonna have a magnifying glass on him every single game and will get roasted for every mistake. I almost hope his English isn't great so he can't understand all the hate (baseless and justified) he gets. Hope he can turn his performance around and show why so many EU teams have turned to him.

You're right, it might be too soon to consider him among the ranks of best mid laners in europe. His performance against Bjergsen at IEM was pretty convincing though. Will reserve that opinion as the european lcs progresses.
