I am confused...

I was hoping some Chinese people or people knowledgeable on the situation could tell me what is happening there, as I am getting many mixed reports from various different sources of the 'reality' in Xinjiang...

As far as I can tell about 1 million people (Uighurs and some others) have suddenly appeared in newly built schools. They are getting free haircuts, food + clothes and a Chinese vocational education. They are also grateful to be receiving these things in state of the art facilities that allow them to stay overnight. Their families have not been racially profiled or 'rounded up' and this is all happening for the good of these Chinese people because a few people died in a knife fight a few years back.

Is this correct?

Please help...

The reality of the situation is that the Chinese government harvests the organs of dissidents and deploys subversive actors on anonymous forums to spread propaganda to western audiences.

The situation in Xinjiang is as follows: The US encourages and supported Saudis spread Wahhabist Islam, which can't even be called Islam. Uighurs are disenfranchised economically in China and some go overseas to join Wahhabi groups such as Daesh in Syria. China is worried about the spread of Wahhabism domestically either from returning members of Wahhabi groups or from Saudi funded mosques and is launching a rather stupid method of controlling it by detaining Uighurs. My only opposition is that the methodology is heavy handed and probably ineffective but I'm not going to fault China for combating religious extremism before it becomes a larger problem.

Not to go off topic but the organ harvesting allegations are debunked WaPo

"David Kilgour, a former Canadian politician, and Ethan Gutmann, a journalist, assert that China is secretly carrying out 60,000 to 100,000 organ transplants a year, mostly with organs taken from Falun Gong practitioners held in secret detention since a crackdown on the movement in 1999.

But research and reporting by The Washington Post undercut these allegations.

Transplant patients must take immunosuppressant drugs for life to prevent their bodies from rejecting their transplanted organs. Data compiled by Quintiles IMS, an American health-care-information company, and supplied to The Post, shows China's share of global demand for immunosuppressants is roughly in line with the proportion of the world's transplants China says it carries out."

"And lawyers who have defended Falun Gong practitioners also reject allegations that those prisoners' organs are being harvested.

"I have never heard of organs being taken from live prisoners," said Liang Xiaojun, who said he had defended 300 to 400 Falun Gong practitioners in civil cases and knew of only three or four deaths in prison."

I would heavily recommend this channel to understand and get news from what is going on in China:

So they are preventing 'future' extremism in Xinjiang by detaining 1 million Uighur people (how do they tell who is Uighur by the way?), even though only about 50 people died in Xinjiang from a random knife attack - is this correct?

Thank you, this is quite shocking to watch mind you. How many more places like that are there in Xinjiang? Reports say about 1 million people are detained,,,is that correct?

Estimates are 1 million yes but like anything concerning China it's difficult to know. As you can imagine locking up one million people isn't something the CCP will Voluntarily broadcast to the world.

Uyghurs are a Chinese muslim minority that have lived in the Chinese province of Xinjiang for centuries; they are of Muslim faith; I have been following that channel for about a year and a half, what I got from it is that the number of detained people are officially not available, but also furthermore, they whole province is under a mass survelleince, with cameras everywhere on every corner, people are encouraged to spy on each other and report to the police, its discouraged to even have a beard in some cities. The secret services are very active in the area, and the Person who is governing Tibet, governed the Xinjiang provence for 5 years. What we can agree on that we know by widespread media acclamation and testimonies, are that these mostly peaceful people are being repressed, desensitized and their language, culture and religion is being nullified vy the Central Chinese Government or CCP. Only Turkey has condemmed openly this persecution, as most other muslim countries, as well as Western countries, are tied with economic deals and depend on China s economy, so they do not want to upset the repressive Regime. Also as someone mentioned above, some really shady stuff is going on. All in the name to make every citizen conform and standardize to the Government and its political party; you can get more news from following more videos on that channel or independent news agencies.

So the CCP is not helping because they want to hide facts, and Western media are not helping because they want to overstate them, is this your feeling also???

Even so, I think it is becoming clear the CCP have massively over reacted and violated the rights of approximate 1 million humans - is this close to truth in your opinion?

With respect that part wasn't in what you linked, was it?

From what I understand, the state harvests the organs of anyone they execute, kind of mandatory organ donation since they're executing people anyway. What exactly is the allegation of them harvesting organs of dissidents? To me if you say they harvest organs, it implies they're killing people specifically as a source of organs (or not killing in the case of kidneys, etc.), but which would seem bizarre as stuff has to be a match, I don't know. Not here to shill for China, just could you clarify? Is this to dehumanize specific political dissidents, is this just industrial scale against certain groups?
