If you don't know much about resurfacing wood floors, you will probably want to just ignore this thread. I know very little about resurfacing floors, but I was elected project manager of a floor resurfacing project on campus. I was hoping that possibly some of you could help me out with the figures.
Here is what I know:
Wood floors.
There are three rooms to be resurfaced, sq. footage adds up to about 650-850 sq. ft.(an estimate is the best I have at the moment.)
Floors are very old, and in horrible condition, but we are just going to sand and resurface them, not replace any wood. (budget)
I have 15 workers, including myself, that will be working long hours free of charge, so labor isn't an issue.
We are hoping to get the big equipment (Drum/belt sander and Orbital sander) for free for a while from organizations we are affiliated with, but for the time being, I am assuming 1/2 avg. rental price for the two combined. (I live in downtown Milwaukee if that matters.)
The plan for finishing material is the "Street Shoes" 2-part system, primer and sealer. It is probably sort of pricy, but this is a really high traffic area.
I have no idea what amount of sand paper will be needed or even what grits will be used. (100/150/200 was suggested however.)
We are hoping to get the project completed, one room at a time, as quicly as possible, and we only have 1 weekend for one of the rooms. (about 200sq. ft.)

Any help with sand paper amounts, rental price ranges, or simply suggestions for how to go about the project, would be greatly appreciated. A budget estimate/approximate time frame, with the above criteria considered, would make me extremely happy, but that may be too much to ask for.
Thanks

This is probably the most random thread I've ever seen on TL. And I've seen some.

Well ive done a little bit.. I dont know what the budget is, but the rental prices shouldnt be too scary if you plan the project out well and with 15 people you might as well do as much by hand as possible up until the minute you need the floor machines.

This is a damn random thread though. And really you should maybe look up some guides on this shit using google: ]

The floor resurfacing championships start next week on espn, right after underwater basket weaving. Watch and learn.
I went to the chippy last night and only orderd chips because I knew I could get fish from her bushy plate.

I know it is random, but with all the calculus help threads, I figured why not step it up a notch.
Sorry if this thread has angered anybody, although I consider the first line a good enough disclaimer to not waste your time if you don't want to.
It's all been figured out, so no more advice is needed, but thanks.

I definitely think Gorbaj Michrachev will win the underwater basketweaving championship this year, so far his technique has been really solid as well as having good consistency to his macher.
Theres a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

You say the floor is too old and it takes a lot of work to repair I think it takes more time to complete.
