Thanks for sharing the news story though. Very very doubtful that the bear ran into a wall with intention of inflicting self-harm, rather, it was kept in a cage its whole life and was very unfamiliar with the whole concept of running and object permanence in the first place. It hit the wall and died. It was a messed up bear. Farmer's fault. End of story. Let's attempt not to personify animals because of this. | ||

I know for a fact that the animals here are treated much better than in practically all of asia, and that the west in general has tighter restrictions on how you farm animals. Maybe this instance of drilling holes in animals and keeping them alive is actually illegal, I sure hope it is. | ||

Actually on some farms They have a hole drilled into the cows stomach, you can read online the purpose. But the Animial has a "plug" to keep it from getting infected. And the farmers are very aware that having it open can cause infections. | ||
