Same type of thing for us. And everything went on as normal for us. The roads and sidewalks were already pretty clear last night..... They were trucking away the snow constantly all day yesterday.....

In all seriousness the UK would literally come to a chilly end if we got that much snow now, we used to get it when I was very very young (20 years ago) but now we get like 1cm of snow and the whole country freaks out... schools close even just with the threat of snow where I live..... its so lame how badly we deal with snow these days. I hope you guys are all safe and snug, someone bust out a rodeo for me!

The mainroads are always cleared immediately, but neighborhoods and backroads wont be completely cleared until tomorrow

The mainroads are always cleared immediately, but neighborhoods and backroads wont be completely cleared until tomorrow It could very well be costing your state billions of lost dollars per day by not being able to deal with this type of thing properly..... Better planning, preparation, and operation costs more, but it saves a shitload in situations like this..... And the result is us laughing at you guys.

I went to college in Massachusetts, which has some brutal winters. The state has seemingly more snow plows than people, and even if 24 inches of snow fall overnight, the sidewalks and roads are all somehow magically cleared by morning. They're just prepared for this sort of thing. Here in Maryland though were we get like 1 snowstorm a year, 6 inches shuts down school for a week.

But I guess everyone South of the border just isn't used to snow. At home, a foot or a foot and a half of snow and -50 windchill is a lot of snow and cold, but it won't shut down the society. =P Schools will stay open, busses just won't run.
