A very interesting tournament. The lineup is stacked (well, except for the last 5 teams...), and a few rosters that recently changed are playing their first tournament. A bit sad that we'll have to wait to see NiKo play on FaZe, but it'll come.

Think it would have been kinda hard to use Niko after having him less than a week with the team. Also Faze and Mouz in the same group...lul. Definitely interesting to see what happens: - will Astralis look as strong as they did at the major? - what level is North at now? - can Optic hang with the top 10 teams now? - Complexity...
-has Fnatic solved their old problems and can they return to their old form? - can Misfits put up a fight and not get 16-0 by VP? - can Gambit play other maps than Overpass?
- how will Sk look with felps in the roster? - wtf is going on with NiP? - does Cloud9 still remember how to play cs? - how will Tyloo play after all the drama?
- will NaVi be (even more) motivated? - what can Faze do with a stand-in? - who can be less bad, Renegades or Mouz? Some serious questions to be answered...

ahan... Ill say it again, unless you get some favourable Bo3's which is less likely with D2 out of the pool, teams that work hard and have a tactical bedrock are now good enough to beat teams that just come to tournaments to play FPL.
The days of out fragging and individual outplays are gone now.

Hiko and Elige. I'm not a big fan of jdm to be honest.
But damn, fnatic just keeps running into gambit angles.

Yeah I started doing that all the time for a small period.. obviously with significantly less success.

This is sooo wrong. Obvious you barely watch any games nor asses any data - Hiko was consistently mediocre-to-bad.

Could be. Fnatic just looked really disconnected though. like they were just playing FPL or something there. They missed so many smokes as well. Luckily for them they're very skilled players all.

Dude, there was a round in there, where he went to Cbble Plat by himself to setup a fake. At best you can expect to get a kill and get traded. He cleaned out the whole site by himself.

I find it hilarious that VP tried to dry peek the first buy round. Realized that was a dumb as fuck thing to do against Fnatic and then went for the executes and their mid map control based T side.
It was like such an obvious "NOPE" reaction to what they were doing. if they had been respecting Fnatic from the start it couldve been worse for Fnatic.

Jkaem was just a standin anyways for Faze for this tournament. Niko comes to the team in stead of Aizy.

Whats wrong with Vegas ? Vegas is great, just not for very long. At any rate disgusting is certainly to harsh a word to use.

Uh, it's just too much of what is wrong with this world cramped into one place. For example, building a metropol, that conveys massive over-consumption of ressources as the be-all-end-all, in the middle of the desert, so they have to draw groundwater from distances of up to 1000 km from the city, is what I call disgusting indeed.

its not that CT sided tbh. Norths play was very sloppy and one dimensional near the end.
IF you get banana control the B site i cancerously hard to hold. Same with A and having top mid control.
Edit: See.. there is plenty of potential for fakes and using utility to isolate players in sites.
The Banana area itself could use a bit more reworking its a bit clunky still even if its better but the map isnt as bad as it was before where you could throw smokes through with no skyboxes for the entire round and never have to worry about B.

I do want to see Niko on a team that will have more than 1 star player, hopefully egos/play styles doesnt crash and end up affecting the team performance.
As of now Mouz has always been about letting your star player do what he wants, pretty much mouz playbook is
Oskar/Niko go ham --> gg
If karrigan can find the right play style FaZe is going to be a top dog reaaaaally soon

Faze doesnt really have alot of star style players anymore though. Kio and Karrigan arent star players. Rain is super versatile and can do anything and Allu is a bot that does need some freedom so they will need to carry him a bit. Niko should fit quite nicely tbh.
Wow that overtime was pretty sick and simple forcing overtime was really fun eitht the zeus haha. Hope navi win; guardians finally playing well for the first time in a while~ gogogogo

I'm happy for VP, those guys totally deserve this. So glad to see them in good form once again. Snax was surprisingly quiet. Funnily enough that wasn't because he played worse than usual but because everyone else was stepping it up. Good stuff.
Glad to see VP win this, though Astralis choking in semis brings me to believe that their Major win was a lucky streak. We'll see if they choke again in Katowice
IMO Snax while being gifted as fuck in skills, his biggest strength is easily being the smartest csgo player around. Sone of his decisions were top tier... Like that 1v2 in Cbble (cant remember team) where they faked smoke A and went to B, Snax read that like an open book, it was just bad timing that didnt let him win the round

He win games by outsmarting you.
Snax is definitely one of the smartest players. Like all pros he has his derp moments but way less than most players. Another one of his major qualities is his balls and his unorthodox play-style. His weird angles, bat-shit insane movement through smokes and corners etc. throws his opponent off a lot. Sometimes it doesn't work of course (it shouldn't work close to 100 % of the time though...) but he has talent for this kind of stuff so it works out very often.
Damn if it weren't for VP bein at the top I wouldn't be watching any csgo but what does this say about the scene that a team like VP is still winning tournaments in 2017? Are they getting better or is every other team just getting worse?

Every team is fluctuating. That fluctuation just gets a lot stronger with the constant shuffles of the teams...
I think felps was maybe not the best pickup for SK. His aiming is pretty ugly. Relies too much on spray at medium-long range. Doesn't look like typical pro level rifling. Just an observation.

Little dissapointed with North, but man that team looks strong with Aizy, even if his role is different to the one in FaZe... Tbh, with konfig and magisk, Aizy can fall back to a more support role.
I really have high hopes in this iteration of North
Fallen was really subpar throughout the tournament, and its not like felps is filling the same role as fox did...
Felps was playing alot of Fnx's spots like for like. Train and Mirage CT side were literally just ditto swaps. The real good thing was it allowed Cold to play his regular spots and he went back to being beast.

Tough to say if Aizy had a positive impact because individally speaking he was fairly average. MSL was stepping up huge - might be because Norths coach could contribute as a secondary IGL during the game so MSL could focus more on his own game... Or just positive variance.
I don't know... I rather have Aizy performing well in this event since we have seen that MSL's long-term average is a lot worse than what he has showned in this event - so I don't think that performance is sustainable.

Yeh if only Hiko could speak portugiese - Then Hiko would finally be on a team he deserved and replace a baddie like Felps.
To be fair, aizy had relatively few frags, but he was still impactful. This might work out well, and it will have to I feel because I don't see MSL performing like that on a regular basis either.

Yeah Aizy is never going to be hard fragger in a team where Konfig and Magisks roles are defined. Although the possibility may exist on T side where Konfig wants to swap to Rubinos lurk role (or so has been said)
The impact point is the most valid. Sort of like a Xyp/NBK role, star level skills but takes a back seat unless needed.
Yeah Aizy is never going to be hard fragger in a team where Konfig and Magisks roles are defined.
Except they were redefined with Aizy getting K0nfigs role on T side.
In this tournament the thing is that MSL was taking all of the kills on the CT-side.

Considering I pointed this out already. I guess reading is hard or you are just looking for opportunities at being a contrarian to sound smart.
As for the CT side, that was MSL himself using people to put himself into fraggin situations, mostly because I believe he felt he was better placed to execute the plans he had in his mind on the frag front. Ofcourse he did just flat out frag better but that is normally a function that is accentuated by being put in situations to get easier frags that builds confidence. All players at that level benefit from this.
MSL is no exception. What it does do is get people off his back for the nonsense flack he gets from reddit noobs who look at frag counts and have zero understanding of the game. Perhaps that is the point you were also making but I figured I'd flesh it out.
Theres no reason he cant do the same for an Aizy or anyone else for that matter on that team who would be better placed to do so as the team practices and builds more chemistry with Aizy on the team although that should be a relatively smooth transition imo.
In my opionion personally, Magisk doesnt need that kind of help, kids just flat out insane, he will just outright win his duels. But Aizy and Konfig can benefit immensely from good support play. More so than anything MSL can do but all other options are workable to some degree. If MSL is getting frags instead as long as its a winning formula, who cares?
