This is a strategic 1on1 turn based word/letter game on a 5x7 grid of letters, where you make words to capture new letter tiles and win by capturing one of your opponents 5 starting letters. Here's a short video introduction to it:
This game is created by some TL people: reps)Largo and RUS_Brain. So naturally there's already quite a few of us here from TL playing it.
Gecko got me into it, and some how I won one of the four tournaments they've run in it. There's about one tournament each week. And there's a ladder and rankings and everything. Very familiar for esports people. There's a spectator mode and you can also watch replays of your or anyone else's matches by finding them in the match history in their profile. All this and the game is still in beta. So check it out: http://yourletters.org/

Played a 1 hour 39 minute game with divinelight last night.
Its a fun game.

The "x number of games against opponent" rule is quite silly, should at least allow non-ranked matches so one could play with a friend for as much as they want. Otherwise a fun enough game, all though it turns out I suck at it.

Seems cool, ill check this out later. How long does an average game take usually?

Depends ... 15 minutes if you're getting owned/owning .... 1 hour + if you're supremely evenly matched

And the rule is standart t anti-abuse restriction.
There are some money prizes (except the GLORY) for the ladder achievements so it makes sense.
Any kind of feedback is much appreciated <3

I just signed up and played a game, I hope this gets more popular cuz its cool as hell.

Why does he care about rating so much when there are maybe ~100 recurring players? Or less?
Anyway, it's pertty cool. But I think it'd be cooler if the pieces moved sometimes. Like maybe the first and last letters of each word you make swap spots. That'd add a whole lot more strategic depth.

I never received a verification email. D: I dont know if OP is involved with the website end of things at all, but I can PM you my email if necessary to get it resolved.

I guess the reason comes from the ranking itself. If it was more popular it'd be quite easy to abuse rankings, that happened on almost all BW portals without the rulings. I'm speaking for myself here and from my experience reviewing stats / reports on ICCup.

played an almost 2 hour game the other day with a friend. worst letters of all time.
pretty sure if you get an s/d/n/ed your chances to win improve by alot.

I just played my first multiplayer game. It took 2h and 4min.. lol, but I eventually won. I think I didnt use my mulligans well at all, I didnt have a good strategy for finishing the game off, and I didnt use my extra 5 minutes very effectively (Pacing wise.) I think if I would have done those two right in the first place the game could have been 90 minutes faster, and I wouldnt have almost lost. If anyone thats more experienced has some better criticism I would appreciate it. I think there was atleast two times I could have added an "S" or "ED" onto the end of a word where I forgot to.

What would you think about a 5x5 board, to reduce the stalemate potential and speed up the game?

K is another good letter to have also. alot of 4 letter words you can throw K on the end of. but yes in general N/S are the most important i feel like

Really, I'd rather have a C than a K .... but sure a CK would rock (since there's a lot of words with them both, and if your opponent doesn't have them both you have a good advantage.

Are you guys planning to make it for mobiles as well? Would be great.

Most other word games have the letter frequency normalized in some way (i.e. the letter 'e' has way more copies in scrabble than 'q'), but it doesn't look like this game does. That might make it a lot more fun without changing the rules at all.
|
Does the first move always go to the lower-ranked player? It feels like a pretty significant advantage in getting to the 4th row first.
|
Cool, I'll check it out later

It is a good advantage yeah. but as 2nd you need to know one word with more letters from the 4th row than your opponent. and it's the same if you're in first. So maybe it evens out a little.

Its a fun game. GG! Still one of my favorite matches so far.
Sorry to bump, but activity has taken a slight downturn... And I just wanted everyone to know just how easy it is to actually find people to play, if more people did the following:
QUEUE UP!
All you have to do is leave the browser window running in the background, then you click "Find random opponent" at the lobby. Then you keep doing whatever else you were doing on the internet/in the house/during your commute (it is mobile friendly!).
This is a great game for boosting your English vocabulary, and I feel like it has caught the atmosphere of competitive ladder play very well, while being friendly to D players. I showed this game to a few friends who play late afternoon/evening EST now, and whenever I call on them they usually come; now they call each other out and play. If everyone brought a verbose friend or two, it'd be sick. l10f from TL joined and won a game vs. me in one of his first 3 games. I know I am being that obnoxious guy right now but this game is really awesome, I can't stop hyping it.

Beta version is over, the new (official) one started about an hour ago.
Changes so far (if not mentioned already):
- Time for each move reduced from 2:30 minutes to 1:00 minute - Three Times Re-Create at start - Observer Function - Ladder Ratings decrease automatically if inactive and a bonus pool is there - Referal Links with $1 incentives for each new player to hit a C5 Rank
|
Bump. After a couple of games, another small updates:
- it's rather easy to find games at evening hours (CET) - it's getting incredibly hard to win games, given that a new wave of native speakers is online
|
BUMP!
Next tour is starting tomorrow~ First season is back to being active. Everyone should check it out

The game is back after being down!! HYPE :D
It desperately needs new players, since most of the old players have stopped coming due to the downtime... This is a shout-out! Come check out this great game
|
Shout outs to Gravette, MaBonjwa (though we didn't get to play), and Uranium for coming to play Hope to see you guys again.
Shout outs to returning players F-onTTaX (sp) and souji-gosu.

Can this game come back, please? T_______T

Wonder if we can get Rus_Brain to rehost this game, have been thinking about it recently...
Would be willing to possibly host on my own servers if it isn't too expensive?
