I absolutely loved learning about Iceni back when I was 8, gotta have some British pride! Plus it's always fun to run roughshod over the welsh, irish and french as a starting area :D

Not sure if srs?
Oh you are referring to the faction not the game?
Yeah Rome as a faction was quite monotonous in the battles. But that's just how they were IRL. It's all about the efficient machine of death.
PS whoever thinks Rome 1 has badly aged is MENTAL. If anything it has aged extremely well, and harkens back to the golden age of gaming but also has pretty sick graphics and gives a great impression. It is easily in my top 10 games of all time and maybe my top 5.
Remember time commanders? That show put the production value of Rome 1 into the realm of "wow look what computers can do nowadays!" Even now its so comprehensive and historical (with mods of course) that the graphics don't really affect my thoughts on the game, and i'm a graphics junkie. Its the only game of its time that i still play now.
For those who never saw time commanders, that tiny little gerbil fellow from Top Gear Richard "he's not a real Hamster" Hammond presented teams of people playing what looked like an expanded version of Rome 1.
i kinda fancy egypt right now. not sure why. i mean it's probably going to be rome anyways, because i'm a huge fan of everything roman (excluding gta4), but i might try something different for once. god am i gonna play this game.
in Rome, the concept and visual elements of Egypt were SO attractive. The gold and the golden sand looks incredible and the lines of pharoah's archers and chariots are awesome.
Why was this a mistake? Because I forgot that armies in besieged port settlements do not suffer from attrition unless the port is blockaded, but the besieging army will.
That's new. I'm curious if besieging armies will always suffer attrition, regardless of if it's a port city or not.
Wonder how the mixed sea and land battles will work on the campaign map. Might it be possible to assault a navy with an army if they're both close to each other on the coast?
It looks as though Athens actually cooperated with Jack's army initially against Epirus. Man, I never expect the A.I. to back me up in a fight, lol! X-D
Pleased to see they brought back Wonders.

It's when the game seems so huge, so massive, so flavoured with things to do and the knowledge that the designers have once again created a game with major design flaws are not yet present in your mind, because you're having a blast and you're not going to read the cry threads on the forums, as you're just playing as much as you can.
I know that feel bro, lol. I got September 3rd off as my scheduled Labor Day holiday. I'mma come into work reeeaaally tired on Wednesday. Will probably just read all of the info. that I can about the factions, the units, the cultures and societies, and eventually hash out unit statistics, battle strategies, and field tactics. Serious flavor day.

There's some awesome features (the choose map thing for custom battles sounds amazing).
They had that in earlier games (edit: by that i mean a huge amount of battlefields, depending on campaign map terrain), so glad it returns. I hope that sieges show more diversity too, anyone remembers the standard castles in shogun 2 that you had to conquer 20 or so times in a single campaign. That was just painful.
Quick Match should be just like SC2 Ladder. Unsure what they mean by "only LAN." I live in the middle of nowhere, so I hope that doesn't mean I'm stuck with Quick Matching only players nearby, haha!
That "choose map" thing makes picking an environmentally-desirable map so much easier. I like the idea.
When he's setting his units up in the pre-battle placement, I noticed the unit formations were centered on the mouse pointer, instead of the far right side of the formation like in previous games. I really like that, but I'd prefer having the option to change it. Very curious how you can form thinner or thicker ranks within a unit's formation.
I think I heard an accent for the unit voicers, so that's a good thing.
@Jock: Something tells me she was hired for additional PR more than game design, lol.
It's scheduled as a free DLC released in October. Will definitely be the next campaign I try after Macedon, Rome, and a third if I get around to it in a month, lol.

Nice! They had so much diversity in Rome 1 my 2nd fav faction after Rome.

Yeah, they had a really sweet unit set in Rome 1, which was a really good thing given how difficult their starting position is. I'm always at war with Egypt, Pontus, Parthia, Armenia, and (sometimes) the Greeks within the first 10-15 turns of my Seleucid campaigns.
Looking at the campaign map, most of the Seleucid territory from Rome 1 isn't owned directly by the Seleucids in Rome 2. Instead, its owned by various client states and minor factions. It will be interesting to see how this affects the campaign. I tend to think that it will be a little easier because the core empire will be smaller and easier to defend. Plus, there'll be more of a buffer between the Seleucids and Parthia/Pontus. I doubt there will be any shortage of war, however.
