I'd say that's true in Maplestory, but I'd hardly call the Dragon Nest cash shop character customization in comparison. And then there's the whole fixed set of models per class. I understand why they do it, but I think putting in the time and money towards giving more actual customization would attract more players.

I haven't played any other action-mmorpgs besides Maplestory and Spiral Knights, both of which play completely different through primary game mechanics (Side-scrolling and Top Down slasher, respectively). Dragon Nest's primary game mechanic plays somewhere between Devil May Cry and Dynasty Warriors, both games I enjoy. I've never played a game of that type of gameplay within a mmo environment before. Adding typical mmo aspects to that type of gameplay is surely a welcome addition. This game rewards both skill and classic mmo mindsets such as equipment optimization, loot farming, party play, leveling up skills/stats, etc. So I ask you, what games have you played that are like this that you are sick of it already? I imagine Vindictus is probably the closest in terms of game mechanics. That only came out fairly recently though, so maybe you just get sick of things quickly? That or there have been many games of this nature (not just carrying the mmorpg genre on its back), and I just have not heard and played them.

If you have to keep in mind that Dragon Nest (in North America) is still relatively new and eventually they will have more customization for the classes as they progress. Similar games that were released like DFO will have not much content as compared to the Korean version. If you look at DFO now compared to before, it has a crapload of avatars going around. I do agree that they should have more but they already have some kind of "ad clothing" in which you can pick one of the three costumes once you advance your first subclass. Basically, if you are tired of using the current customization, you have to pay the fancy stuff with real money.

Honestly, it's sort of lackluster as an RPG and if you're looking for a nice MMO game with lots of customizability and depth then you'll be disappointed. Maybe things will change with this patch though, as they are releasing a lot of content. The best part is definitely the PvP. I know people on the forums like to complain about balance, but I've been learning to play all 8 classes (the reason I still play this game at all) and I can say that they all hold their own very well. Most of my losses I would chalk up to differences in skill (and unfortunately sometimes lag) or just inexperience against a class. And once you get to know your character it's quite rewarding. edit: also if anyone wants to add me I play on Argenta under Nanosaur

It's either that or you would be better off just playing on the KR one. The NA team has so many problems right now including a huge breach in their database. Lots of players got hacked several months ago and they're still trying to tie up all the loose ends. Nexon has failed their clientele so often that players are starting to switch to their competitors like Rusty Hearts.

...started over winter break, currently have a 40 acro and 2x ele... totally forgot that TL had a thread on this. Apparently both east coast servers are getting merged very soon, and lvl 50 cap within the next few months? Funnily enough, I've yet to meet a single person who has even touched Starcraft in this game, whereas in maple a good 40-50% have played/liked SC.

However I heard that this game is pretty darn boring until you reach high levels, is that true? Cus I don't know if I can handle the stress. I already had that from maplestory.
