Best game for an Xbox 360 Lan?

I did an eight man LAN recently, we only had halo reach, as that was the only game all 5 of the xbox people had. We mostly played mlg but due to varying skill levels some people found it quite boring, so my question what would be the best game for a 5 maybe 6 xbox LAN?

There are plenty of good games, depending on what you and your friends are into. There is no "best game" for everyone who ever plays XBox. It's all about what you're into with your friends.

However, in my opinion, Gears is always a fun choice.

I think Call of Duty 4 or 6 are the obvious ones. Guitar hero/Rockband is fun in groups too. Red Dead Redemption is supposed to be good in groups too, alhtough I have no experience with it.

The cool thing about Halo is that more then 2 players can play on 1 xbox. Not many games offer that ability.

But the games I like to play on a lan are Halo, Gears of War and Left for Dead (4 player max)

Im trying to think of something other than a shooter for a lan and coming up pretty empty. The only thing I could think of is theres some pretty good multiplayer games on xbl arcade but then you would all have to buy the game. My best advice would be to play things other than mlg if there is a varying skill level. I dont know why you would play mostly mlg at a lan if everyone was varying in skill when there are so many other cool game types in reach.

Edit: maybe Blur?

Fighting games are great around people and does not require multiple copies, so SSF4.

Also, sports games are cool too. FIFA 11 you can play 11 vs 11.

Anyways, a huge difference of skill will always make the game less fun. You guys have to figure out a "fun" way to balance it.

Left for dead 1 and 2 are both epic for multiplayer, since they are co-op and really intense as far as non-shooters go only guitar hero and fifa really come to mind

Gears of War is very fun because it's very personal. Every kill you get is in a pretty specific circumstance and it's fun to look back on it later like "Yeah I chainsawed Kevin and then whipped out the shotgun and blew Chris's head off". Lots of stories to laugh about later.

Whereas in Halo it's like "Yeah then I shot him with the DMR in the head, and then he respawned and I shot him again but he was a little bit faster this time so I died. I also had the sniper rifle for nearly a minute!" It's only really fun if everyone you're playing with is good and competitive.

dat blazblue cs or ssf4
FGs = fun if everyone is on about the same skill level

and you've got all the other non-halo FPS games you could try

I would say Halo, maybe L4D, Guitar hero is definately fun, some kind of football game if you´re into that maybe? But if you´re friends don't think halo is fun.. I dunno

Boring meaning they can barely turn around and got reamed by everyone who isn't terrible at FPS's is what I'd bet on.

With that sort of group I dunno, Whenever I LANed Halo there were definitely only smaller gaps in skill, Personally I think GOW is the clunkiest piece of shit I've played for a long time, and It probably won't be much better for bad players.

You should really be asking the people who don't like Halo what they would rather play instead of random TLers...if they can't give you an answer then maybe they probably aren't really the people you should LAN with.
