Granted England looked terrible last night, Sweden and Croatia/Russia are not exactly the toughest opponents. edit: Damn you Januzaj... This should've been our easy bracket half, not England's :'( Fair point but when I look at the way France and Belgium play, there is no way any kind of momentum can give a chance to England versus any of them. And dont forget Sweden and even Chroatia/Russia will have the same "wow we made it this far momentum as well" I think we could give Belgium a decent game, but I can't see us having a chance against France. Sweden first though, and that ain't gonna be easy at all. I'm just happy we got this far with a squad without any particularly creative players (except Trippier). Any more wins is a bonus. Creative players are overrated though, especially in knock-out matches because of the all-or-nothing factor. Playing a solid game and outlast your opponent tends to work much better. I disagree, all 8 teams showed they had a solid team and the ones winning had creative players making the difference. The remaining teams flipped the coin, I would not call this working, unless your inferior to your opponent. Creative players are indeed good. May I remind that The creative player in Columbian team yesterday was watching the game because of an injury. The thing I see the most lacking in Englad is not that its they are not looking good as a whole. If we give points for overall performance they get maybe 6/6.5 as a whole this is not enough to proceed onward. Not to mention last night was the ugliest most frustrating football of all the WC. England have looked pretty decent in other games. I think Columbia wanted to kill the game and England didn't react properly, which made it super boring. Its hard to judge teams in the WC because the variety of opposition is so huge. I still think we need a decent midfielder who can create, but I'm fairly confident in our system and our defence. Its not an achievement to look decent vs Panama and Tunisia... England fans seem to forget that they had the easiest group We obviously had the easiest group. We haven't played a good team yet, which is why I'm reserving judgement on what will happen if we do. You have played a good team. Your b-team played Belgium's b-team. And lost I'm disregarding that game in the cause of unfounded optimism. Dive all the time, complain about "favoritism" constantly. That's the kind of shit that keeps me from ever supporting them. | ||
